I've never had any issues with the code or the gate. Every time I came to the unit, I could always access it. There were not any people back by the units that should not be there. Straight-up, no high-pressure sales, the property is very secure, but access is easy. The hours listed through Yelp are for the front business office. Gate access for existing customers remains open until 9 pm. This is not a 24 hour access facility. I have a larger, climate-controlled unit. One of the nice perks of this place is the overhead motion-detecting light system. I don't know if all inside units have that, but it's nice and not usual. It is not cheap to store belongings in secure climate control, but I think the prices here are reasonably competitive. The owner told me that if they decide to do price increases they space them about 11 months apart and the increases would be $3 or $5 at a time not $20 or $50 like I watch the other places do. Very few people these days can afford to pay for a whole year's worth of storage at a time. I see a lot of these places lure people in with nice introductory rates and promotions, to then jack the prices way up once they are all moved in. Moving is expensive. Storage is expensive. If you aren't careful you could lose everything. I did not take my decision to store my property here lightly, and like I said so far I am happy with the experience.

The move out process was easy and they give you a 4 day grace period if your move out coincides with your monthly renewal date, so you have a good amount of time should you need it before getting charged. They did accidentally charge me after I moved out but a quick phone call got me a nice apology and my money refunded ASAP. Not a huge problem. Prices were on par with other storage areas I've used as well. Units fill up quickly in the spring as students get storage units for their things for the summer so I'd recommend getting a space in the winter or fall just in case. Pretty good across the board!

I was super happy when I discovered Affordable Storage! As compared to the other similar option nearby, I found Affordable Storage to be much cleaner, the units easier to access, and less in/out traffic, which made me feel more secure about where I would be leaving my belongings. There are a variety of bins and carts available for you to use when shuttling items between your vehicle and storage unit, which I have found very useful. The only drawback is the hours, which are pretty limited; especially on Sundays, when you can only access your unit for three short hours. Having said that, you just need to plan accordingly.

They REPEATEDLY told him that "a driver will be there in 15 minutes! He waited from 3 PM to 10 PM. When I called the number for them online, the first thing that I asked was who contracts them the most frequently in Ann Arbor. The man said " What?" I said "What businesses or institutions contract you the most frequently in Ann Arbor?" He replied, "MA'am, do you need a tow truck? We're busy and it's cold out" then hung up on me. They literally forced someone to wait outside in the cold for 6 hours, always saying "15 more minutes and a driver will show up!" It's so unprofessional to have multiple names for the same business, NOT have a website, NOT accept credit card payments, lie ("15 more minutes" turns into 6 hours of waiting outside, refuse to answer questions AND rudely bring up the fact that it's cold outside (don't customer service reps sit inside)? This isn't even a business. Y'all need to stop leaving negative reviews and instead contact IRS about the company potentially not paying taxes and potentially committing tax fraud. They don't have customers, leaving a bad review won't help. But contacting an organization to investigate them might put them out out of business if they go to prison for "accidentally" not reporting the entirety of their paid ONLY in cash earnings.

When I immediately spoke to the tow truck driver, he told me he would release my car and not tow it if I paid $200 in cash on the spot. I didn't have cash, so the tow proceeded. I was then informed that getting my car out of the impound would require $400, cash only. I was told the wait would be 3-3 1/2 hours because they were busy. In reality, it took approximately 10 hours to retrieve my car. I waited outside in freezing, snowy conditions for over three hours and repeatedly called the office. I was told a driver would arrive around 7 PM, then repeatedly told "15-20 minutes," until about 10 PM. When the vehicle was finally released, I was again required to pay $400 in cash only, and I was not provided with any receipt. The cash-only demands, lack of receipts, misleading delays, and request for money on the spot to avoid towing raise serious concerns. This was an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience, and I would not recommend this company.
