Beware dishonest business!! Also check Google reviews. Santiago was punctual and very friendly on the initial estimate. I paid for half the job up front and the remainder was due at completion. The job was started on the day we agreed upon. Unfortunately that's where the positives stopped. He removed the old dead sod from having our pool installed. During that process he cut and destroyed the sprinkler wire going to my valves, which I had pointed out to him prior to starting the job. He denied destroying the wire and I finally just said fix it which cost me an additional $200. Long story short, he sloppily finished the job and demanded immediate payment. I told Santiago when I get home from work and have an opportunity to look at the job I will pay him. I got home and checked the sprinklers and they didn't work. I called Santiago and requested he come fix them. Again, refusing to take any responsibility and poor customer service, stated they all worked when he left and it must be my fault or the brand new controller was bad. I explained this to him but he still refused to come out. When I was younger (I'm old now), I used to install sprinklers and I was able to diagnose the sprinkler issue. It was a simple fix and that's what is so disappointing about Santiago is that he wouldn't come fix a loose ground wire, that would've taken less than 5 minutes. I paid Santiago in full, which I shouldn't have until he came back and fixed the sprinklers but since fixing the ground wire was a simple fix and I didn't feel like arguing with him again. The bottom line is I just didn't want him anywhere near my house again and I'll have to hire someone else to redo the sloppy job that was done on my slope. I really believe if I would have paid him up-to 90% of the total, like he asked for after the first day of work, I wouldn't have seen him again, so BEWARE!! read more

Update 9/22/15. I received a follow up phone call from Santiago today. He was inquiring about our recent experience and to discuss my review. FIRST IMPRESSION: It's always a good thing when a business calls you back curious about how they did. This shows compassion and that they care about their customers and the experience they had. Santiago asked how we were doing and how the backyard was looking. I told him that we are doing fine and the backyard still looks as awesome as it did when it was done the first time. THE REVIEW: We then talked about the review I posted on Yelp. He was happy to hear that the review was mostly positive but was concerned with the two major negative experiences we had. 1) Communication - He said explained that he was a little late due to getting his equipment ready and things like that and also that his crew began work immediately upon arrival which they did. He went on to say when he gives his word that it can be counted on. To that I say that since this is our first time doing business with his company we have nothing to go on as far as that is concerned. Nonetheless, at the end of the day the work got done as promised and in the time we were told which is what matters to us. All I will say is that it would be nice to know this ahead of time so we aren't wondering IF or when exactly they are going to show up. 2) PAYMENT I'm going to keep this short and say that at the end of the day it comes down to a convenience for your customers. If we can have your preferred method of payment ready to go it makes for a smoother transition and better experience. FINAL THOUGHTS: I was honestly surprised to get a follow up call. I just assumed that since everything was worked out there would be no more to discuss about it. I'm glad he did call though it shows something that is rare in businesses today at that is care for their customers. One would think that would be something every company would just automatically have but sadly it's not. After thinking it over the two major negatives weren't really negatives looking back. Sure, things could have been much smoother but it isn't anything keeping me up at night so to speak. We ended the call with the infamous question about future business. Considering everything I would definitely go to Santiago and his crew whenever he next time we need someone to manage the "jungle". Not that we are in any hurry to have the backyard in that condition. But if we do need future landscaping care and the yard maintained they are the first on our list. Like I said in my original review their work ethic is without question. Those guys busted their butts to get our yard looking so awesome and weed free. It makes me so happy to look back there everyday and NOT see overgrown weeds and such. Like I told Santiago it's the small things that add up to make the biggest difference. Calling back to follow up with us was one of those small things. Keep up the great work and until next time (but not too soon though ;) ) I added one star back for calling back to follow up with us. Wow so many positive things to say about this landscaping business. I had so many questions and Santiago was able to answer all of them which made things way easier for me to trust them. He went above and beyond my expectations with my front yard. The pictures speak for themselves and he gave me more than a reasonable price for everything they were able to do for me. These people do not arrive when they say they are going to arrive. The service is unreliable and sporadic. When they do show up they do an incredible job and I am happy however I had to let them go because sometimes my yard would go a month and a half without anybody stopping by and they were supposed to come at lea monthly. When I would inquire about it my texts were left ignored. I found it much easier just to go get it at a lawnmower and edger and just do this myself. read more

I called Santiago at Ogots Landscape to get a quote on some new sod, tree trimming, sprinklers and some uplighting for my front yard. He came out and gave us a quote which was a couple of hundred dollars less than the two other quotes we had. We set the installation up for the following week and his crew came out and did a great job. The yard looks great! Ogots Landscaping is top notch, Santiago was very professional and went the extra mile. We had just moved into a home we just purchased, the house and yard were in a state of disarray. We called Santiago up and he and I discussed what was needed to get the yard in order. He removed two palm trees that were threating to damage my pool. saving me tons in the long run. The pool inspector didn't pick up on the tree roots starting to crack the sides. Then Santiago and his guys took care of plating smaller much nicer plants to make the landscaping come together. They fixed and adjusted my sprinklers front and back and totally revitalized a dead front yard. Santiago checked up on use and informed use that it was time to reduce the frequency and deration of the watering for the season. He emailed me the complete instructions for my type of sprinkler system so I could learn to do it myself. Had a scheduled bid to come out to take a look at a large job, they messaged me and cancelled 30 minutes prior. I gave them another opportunity to reschedule from 9-10am the next day and I waited until 10:30 and reached out--they stated "raining today, we are taking the day off." No email, no message, no phone call. When I reached out and expressed how upset I was as I rearranged my mornings for two days now, they can all of a sudden come. The man gets here and is very quick to go through everything and tells me he will give me a quote today. I follow up several hours later and instead of providing a detailed quote, he provides a general price for labor. When I inquire for more details all I get in response is "Not saying anything...please leave me alone??!!" At all costs avoid this company. Not only will they bail on any appointments they make with you, they will be the most unprofessional individuals you can encounter. I was looking to pay all cash for a large job that needed to be done and all I got was rude messages from this person. I might add that once I informed him that I would be leaving an appropriate review, he proceeded to inform me that he came on his day off to meet me for the bid and he had to leave his "baby girl"--however, I had to remind him, he was the one who scheduled the appointment and time. But there always is a delay in him following through; Not reliable at all for Yard/Landscape Services; Flakes on you often; I've used him for services and projects in the past but nothing has changed about him or how he runs things; Contracts his work to others that he states he's doing himself. So i waited a couple days to post this review giving Ogots the opportunity to correct there deplorable decision. I had Santiago clean my hill in my yard in the past and no complaints. Done as requested. I contacted Ogots to come to my house and replace all Sprinkler heads and fixtures, front, back, and slope area. I was given a verbal proposal for the job, agreed to the price and even agreed to the extra 200 dollars after the fact he mistakenly forgot ! I then asked when can you perform the work , since i have a painter to schedule to do the wood fencing after you are done with the sprinklers so the wood is no longer being splashed. Ogots stated, i need a 700 dollar down payment, i will order the items and we can start thursday 11/19 around noon, and will finish be end of day on Friday ... I said perfect i will schedule the painter for saturday ( which i did ). Thursday at 11:54 Am i get a text from Ogots says.... I took another Job, i will do yours on Monday !! Enough said on that since painter scheduled. Here's the best part. Since he bought 100 dollars of parts already ( with my money ) he would only return 600 of the 700 dollar down payment. I have all the text messages to verify all of this. Its not about the money. Ofcourse he would not show his face to return the money he sent some young kid who he was paying overtime as he stated to bring it back to me. Lack of integrity, but this is what happens when you try and help the little guy. Could never think of ever hiring or recommending such poor business culture, and decision making. If i did this to any of my customers... I wouldn't have any customers. Also, when he took the other job he texted " i didn't think it would be a big deal " Painter showed up and did a beautiful job by the way if anyone is looking for a reputable painter with Integrity. Owner was quick to provide an estimate in person that was very competitive and was able to start the next week. Project included removing the old sod, laying a weed barrier, three types of rocks and a drip system. It was completed a day prior to the promised date. All in all we are happy with the end result but had a few issues which included a cracked pipe that was repaired the next day, need for more rocks in a few spots which I would have paid more for if he let me know and the crew neglected to remove the mulch in one area so I ended up spending a few hours removing it by hand since the rocks were put on top of it. I would still recommend their services but like everything check what you pay for. read more

Just being plain honest. I contacted Santiago and he seemed very eager to come out and give me an estimate. From all the great reviews I couldn't wait to show him my backyard so he can help me out. Said he would GLADLY come over and provide me with an estimate. We agreed on 10:00 am. NO SHOW. I text him and asked, 'hey.. you still coming". He replied that it would have to be later and he apologized. Okay, good enough. Again, NO SHOW... NO Text, NO phone call. Nothing. I text him the other day (yes, i'm desperate) and asked him if he was still interested in coming down and giving me an estimate. NO RESPONSE. oh well, i guess a person like myself just looking to get a little landscaping done will have to look elsewhere. It's obvious this company doesn't understand customer service. UPDATE: the following morning immediately after this review was posted Santiago called me and apologized for not getting back to me. Apparently he was having issues with his work truck AND with his phone but everything seems to be working now. A coincidence I'm sure. He said he would gladly come by and give me an estimate. He showed up on time. Made a couple of measurements and was able to provide me with one. Immediately after he drove away he text me a picture of his work truck on the side of the freeway and asked me if I knew anybody with a tow truck. I did not unfortunately. He then called me and said because of his ongoing issues with his truck he wouldn't be able to work on my yard after all and retracted his estimate. Ok start with the good: got job started within 3 days!! (Was on time crunch because of our daughters bday party)... good price... palm tree service was the best... the OK: sod layed down was good... got a lot of crab grass :/... and some yellowing wishin the first 4 weeks... the BAD: said he would take care of irrigation.... unfortunately not satisfied with it... think their is still a valve leak.. so overall when you spend 2k for a job expect it to be perfect and that was done in some aspects (palm tree removal, fast service) where others seemed lacking ( should of told me to put in sprinkler in spots getting no water, check up on how grass was doing)... so overall 3 stars and needed just a bit extra to be in 5 star range... would suggest for palm tree removal and if in a time crunch, but would suggest looking somewhere else for SOD and irrigation problems read more

I will start by saying that hired Santiago primarily because of the good reviews I had seen here on Yelp. I had high expectations based on that alone. Our backyard was in need of a complete transformation. Santiago came over an said "no problem" to everything we had asked for. He gave us a price and we said ok. He said it would take appx 10 days to complete. He came over on a Monday(7/21) to pick up a check for half of the job which was $7600. The started demo the next day. Then 2 days later the concrete patio was laid down. Things seem to be progressing well. We were really happy. Santiago came over a couple days later to "check on things". However he ended up asking for an additional $5000 on top of the $7600 he already received. He said he had already ordered all the material for the retaining wall. My husband and I must have been in a good mood because we said sure and gave him another $5000 on 7/27. We wanted half in cash, half in check. Well this was when it all went downhill for us. Santiago said they would be back in a couple days to do more work. Well for about 8 days we heard nothing. Santiago ignored multiple calls. When he finally did answer a text he had a handful of excuses. He ended up sending the concrete guy over to take measurements for the retaining wall and order the material. THE SAME MATERIAL he said he had already ordered when asked for the $5000. When I confronted him on that he said it was a mix up with the concrete guy. Regardless, the retaining wall did not get started until 8/9. The wall came out beautifully buy at this point I just wanted them to be done with the yard. Unfortunately they rushed and things were done half ass. Now I have only half the sprinklers that work. Sod that is dying and a fire pit that is half the size I asked for, so it useless. He also left drainage pipes sticking up and not done as well as the caps on the retaining wall not cemented down. Despite the bad things, santiago did work hard and did throw in this and that, without charging us. However, you may want to ask if they are too busy with other jobs, because I think that was happened here and he never was honest with us so we kept getting left behind. UPDATE- I was contacted by Santiago the day after I left this review (5 days ago). He was apologetic for never coming back when he said he would to finish what he said he would. He promised to make it right. I believed him. He had a guy come and fix the wall that was left undone. Now we just wait again for the other things. We shall see. read more

I this company landscape my backyard to finish off remaining dirt not covered with concrete for a pool. If you want an hard working company that does thinks right and charges competitive prices then look no further. When I gave them my budget he gave me a price that was 200 hundred less so I was able to add a couple of more plants. The company was fast in grading/clean up for placing beautiful river rock. The company also cleaned a large area that had grave but was cover with weeds and did not charge me. This company is really passionate about there work and they really want your backyard/front yard to look great as if it was their own. Can not wait still I have another project for them because I know they will do a great job!! read more

We were very happy after Santiago completed the installation of irrigation, sod and plants. We stopped our service with a previous gardener and hired Santiago for our regular lawn service. Unfortunately, I realize now that was a mistake. We were hosting a party and were counting on Santiago coming the week he said he would. However he was a no show. I called and texted him with no response. I even paid him and he has yet to show up for three weeks. When his team shows up they do a good job but they are not reliable. Santiago is the man. Had trouble getting somebody out to fix a leaking sprinkler system on a Sunday. Had no running water in my house because of it and it was quite the emergency situation. Santiago is a Nuevo local who showed up in a timely fashion. Diagnosed the problem and charged me the bare minimum to fix the issue. Cant say enough good things about the guy.
