Finally went. They had my favorite fruity pebbles mochi doughnuts. It was great!!!!! Fresh and crispy fruity pebbles and the perfect mochi texture. Total lack of variety! Nothing truly stands out. This place sells basically a "collection" of asian inspired items. Way better boba you can get literally anywhere else, korean corndogs that would taste way better if they were authentic. Then mochi donuts. Basic base with sloppy icing and toppings on top. On top of that, the prices were just too high for what you actually get. Mochi donuts already tend to be a bit pricier, but in this case, the quality and taste just didn't justify the cost. The texture was alright, but the flavors themselves were underwhelming and didn't have that rich, satisfying taste you'd expect at that price point. The experience was also affected by the atmosphere behind the counter. The workers seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed, which made the environment feel hectic and unorganized. From the outside we thought it was just a donut shop but we were pleasantly surprised. In addition to donuts they offer teas, ramen and other popular Korean dishes. We ordered the funnel cake donut (not pictured because my husband ate it in two bites), the fruity pebbles one and the cookie butter. My favorite was the cookie butter. Even though it was sweet it wasn't over the top. My husband is already planning his return trip because there were a few offerings that caught his eye. Walked in around 2pm and this place was packed! There are two self-service kiosks to order or you can go up to the register to order, and I used one of the kiosks to put in my order. Although I ordered earlier than couple customers who waited at the register line, I'm seeing the staff boxing their donuts before me... I ended up going up to the register to get more items and the staff packed the rest of my order for me, but my suggestion is that the staff should pack/make whoever's order by order, that seems more fair so people who ordered at the kiosks won't have to stand around even though they ordered first. For a whooping 2.85 per donut, although they are delicious, it's still too pricey for me. Even getting the 12 for $30 "deal", they are still $2.50 a piece, still too pricey based on the size of their donuts. Oh mochi would definitely goes to my "payday treat". I ordered 4 donuts for $10.95, but later saw the staff brought out a fresh batch of churro flavored donuts, I HAVE TO add couple more donuts to my order (girl's math‍). With the 7 donuts I ordered, I picked the Strawberry Shortcake, Creme Brulee x2, Taro, Marshmallow, Chocolate and Churro flavor. The dough is airy and al dante, definitely matches the description of "mochi donut". They are not fully coated with sugar like your typical American donuts, so it's perfect for my less-sweetness taste palette. Oh Mochi is my #1 option for mochi donuts, K-dogs, and boba in VA Beach! I really love how they have rotating flavors weekly but still keep their popular flavors on deck too. The space is huge! So my daughter and I love it in here. And service is pretty fast. You don't have to wait long for all of your items because they get it all to you in a timely manner. My favorite flavors that are kept through rotations are the creme brulee and ube. My favorite boba is the passionfruit but that's always my favorite. However, Tony (GM) is a genius and elevated my tea by adding star jellies and popping boba. So my daughter definitely snatched that one up and finished it by herself. lol. I'll have to get my own next time. But I did enjoy drinking the taro milk tea with a dairy alternative - almond milk! That's why I love this place... there isn't just regular milk. The last time I had mochi donuts was at the Oh Mochi location in Richmond so when I heard of the new location in VB, I couldn't wait to stop in. As I walked in, I noticed very little seating which was unfortunate. It was one, long table in the back that a family was sitting at and a few high top seats at the front, which were also occupied. The decor is really fun though. The wall art and the backdrop walls make for great pictures. I looked over the different flavors of donuts and chose the Belgian Chocolate, Fruity Pebbles and Churro. I absolutely love the soft, chewy texture of mochi donuts, the Fruity Pebbles was my favorite! I definitely plan on returning to try the other flavors of donuts as well as the other items. This is an interesting concept of donuts with an Asian twist. We ordered on the kiosk' and since the items looked appealing we were eager to try one of each. The wait was a little too long than I expected, about 30 minutes or so. The corn dog and donuts were lovely but I did not like the cheese sticks and mac and cheese bites. I came after a few weeks for the lines to die down and there wasn't a long line. I walked in and just couple people so like it was fast. I ordered a potato mozzarella and a lychee fruit tea. The inside is spacious, but only one table to sit at. I wanted the half beef and half mozzarella, but I guess they don't do that one. All I can say is that this place is AMAZING! My friend Jean was on the way to me and asked if i would like a snack from this spot I have never heard of, she was raving about how amazing this place was and how they just opened! Clearly she was able to convince me to try it and boy was I happy that she did! I was able to try the Strawberry, Ube, & the Nutella flavor doughnuts. I was suspicious at first about them being made from mochi but it was a delightful experience. They were crisp on the outside yet fluffy and slightly chewy on the inside. The thing that was mind blowing to me was the hotdog on the stick, covered in flaming hot flakes, and nacho cheese dip on the side!!! We got here before opening and there was already a line formed outside. If you're willing and able to wait at least an hour, this place is definitely worth going to. The doughnuts were delicious! We tried each flavor and our favorites were the churro and the Belgium chocolate flavors. We also tried the Korean corn dogs. My favorite was the potato with mozzarella. I liked the sugar on this one but wish I could have gotten a mixture of mozzarella and beef. There are milk teas, fruit teas, and slushies as well. Writing this review as I am sitting here on a Saturday afternoon. This is my 2nd time visiting here this week. Before that, I haven't had mochi donuts for months since leaving the Chicagoland area. I avoided this place for a few weeks because of the lines. Drove by on several occasions but I couldn't get myself past the line that zig-zagged out the doors. So glad I waited, here's why... The first vist this week was on a Monday at 2:45 pm. This is probably the most ideal time to visit. I won't gatekeep. I had the entire shop to myself for a bit. I took my time browsing the menu and awing the flavors available. Also, I got to experience great service. The staff was super friendly and helpful with my indecision on the corn dog choices. The shop is well decorated with the mochi and donuts in mind. They really set the ambience to be as instagrammable as possible. There's 3 walls that make good backdrops for photos. The donuts were pretty good. The texture is good enough to satisfy my mochi donut craving. Would prefer a more chewy texture but this gets the job done. They are decorated so cute which makes it even more fun to eat. Fruity Pebble and taro are my current favorites. I ordered the corn dogs. I was expecting Korean corn dogs with half beef and half cheese but you choose one or the other. They were good. I had a mozzarella with cheetos and a sweet potato with beef (added garlic ranch). Garlic ranch I loved! The sweet potato with beef needed the mozzarella with it! The cheetos was ok. I was hoping for the crunchy texture of the cheetos but they were crushed to fine. I'll try again another time. Overall, this is worth coming to visit if you are craving a donut that's not as dense or sweet as a traditional donut. You can tell by how long of a line Oh Mochi has even after a month of their grand opening that their food is worth the wait for. Being one of the first Mochi donut place's in Virginia Beach, it's so exciting that we finally have one here in our hometown. I used travel to Newport News just to get some Mochi Donuts. Anyways, about their food... Their donuts are smaller than what i'm used to but the flavors are definitely better! They have certain flavors that they put out each week. Some stays the same but other days varies. Another food in their menu is Korean Corn Dog. They have variety of choices on what to pick for their flavors-- my choice is Potato on the outside & mozzarella in the inside dipped with spicy mayo. Top tier! & you can't go wrong with Taro Milk tea w/ boba as your drink. The only reason i'm giving a 4 out of 5 stars is the atmosphere inside the shop. Since the lines are very long still-- there's no room to sit, really & it's not a comfy atmosphere feeling. What I can say is though, compared to the first month when I went VS. now-- the flow has gotten better & is faster than before. Overall, i'm always craving mochi donuts & if I had a lot of free time, I would go here more often than I usually do now. The line wasn't as long as it has been but it was still a lot of people inside. The restaurant is trendy and it's mainly teenage employees working there. We got biscoff, strawberry, marshmallow, fruity pebbles, and taro donuts. They're kinda pricey to me but I guess people are ok paying $3 per small donut. So anyways I tasted them and almost instantly was disappointed with the $33 we spent. The donut itself is sincerely tasteless dough. So choose your toppings wisely because that's where the flavor will come from. I mean 0 taste. I was surprised because I tried Mochi donuts and tea for the 1st time recently and theirs tasted better. At least I tasted something. But here was totally different. It wasn't chewy and didn't taste fresh like the other mochi place I tried. The only donut with flavor was the biscoff. I recommend that one it was good. The fruity pebbles were a heck to the naw naw naw for me. The cereal turned into a weird texture to chew and it was a turn off. I love taro and ube but you could not even tell that's what you were eating. The toasted marshmallow is confusing because I thought it was s'mores, but it's literally just marshmallow. It needs something else. I will say they were pretty to look at. I wanted to like this place more, but when your spending this much on food you want to get something out of it. I got nothing. I had already invested an hour and I don't think I would have the will to return soon. **For those contemplating checking it out the first four days of opening, I'm not sure what to tell you. but I don't think the lines are going to die down just quite yet. Mochi donuts are a "hybrid" of mochi (rice cake/flour) and a donut that's shaped like a teething ring. Texture wise it's soft, chewy but not excessively, it's light and not dense. If you're looking for massively strong flavors to explode in your mouth, it's going to be more of a tickle, a subtle flavor of whatever icing is on top. It's not going to be overly sweet. I have a huge sweet tooth, yet it's tasty and delicious to me. For me, I like how they rotate the flavors weekly. So it spews some excitement and curiosity to anticipate which flavors they will have next. I'm already anxiously awaiting the mango, biscoff , and matcha flavors. Typically Oh Mochi will post the week's flavors on their IG. They also sell various types of korean corn dogs. I'm not really a fan of korean corn dogs, but most people that have had theirs tend to enjoy them. People that ordered the korean corn dogs (grand opening) were waiting quite some time. Everyone was patient on both sides of the counter. I'm sure they will work out the kinks once they've settled in. While they have kiosks to order, it seems they have put that on hold for the grand opening. Once the kiosks are in use, I propose the work flow will become more efficient, allowing for staff to box the orders quicker due to access of concurrent orders placed versus sequential/linear ones. Honestly, I felt staff handled this huge crowd with grace, composure and patience. The gentleman who was running the cash register was taking orders effectively and staff were correctly churning them out. Also some of the wait time might be attributed to customers' unfamiliarity with the menu and/or customer indecisiveness. Once I was up to order it was fast. I also made an effort to type my order on my phone as I had plenty of time to browse the menu and sort my order prior to placing it (while I was waiting in line). Usually they will have six different flavors to choose from and you can see them through the glass before you're even at the register. *** They do offer military discounts! Just show proof of ID. *** Currently from Feb 9-12 (2024) from 12pm-6pm if you follow them on IG and show them the flier for their grand opening posted on IG you can receive one free mochi donut (no purchase necessary). *** I learned from this girl in line ahead of me, that they have an Oh Mochi app to earn points to get a discount. However, during their grand opening they are not currently honoring it. But once they are it appears beneficial. Personally, if you haven't tried a mochi donut, one should at least try it once and decide their self if it's up their alley. We went for the grand opening.... It was a little insane but to be expected. Service was friendly. Even in the madness the guy at the counter was kind and open to explaining things to people. The donuts had great texture, but flavor was very light on the ube and churro donut. We got mozzarella cheese dogs with hot Cheetos, ramen, and potatoe. Fried cheese is kind of hard to get wrong so no complaints there! We also tried taro and strawberry milk teas. Their boba and strawberry jelly were good. Very QQ and a good sweetness.
