I wanted to write this review to say how amazing Oh My Nails is! I have been coming here every 3 weeks for the last 8 years. The salon is small and owned by Momo, an incredible artist and funny, kind person. She hires carefully to make sure that clients always have a good experience - and I always have, everyone here is talented and expert at what they do (shoutout to Lydia and Shinne!). What I love and keeps me coming back are first, that they prioritize health of your natural nails - they use the best quality products and are careful with removal to make sure your nails are not damaged by the gel. Second, they take the time to consult with you on what you want based on any photos or ideas you have. They have a huge library of gel colors, glitter, chrome, cateye, etc. and tons of crystals and 3d add ons to choose from. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of work you receive, and with a little bit of care, my manicures always last sometimes for up to 5 weeks if I can't make it to my usual appointment. Soooo, since I'm back and forth from the DMV, South Jersey/Philadelphia and NYC, I decided that I needed to have a nail technician in each area to make my nails well manicured and appealing. And where else do you look other than YELP to get the scoop on hot nails salons downtown/FiDi/Chinatown/Village... Through my search I stumbled upon Oh, My Nail! Yeah! The shop is small and technicians are friendly and do real craftsmanship & artistry in the nail game. Alice was my technician. Quiet with a kind demeanor, she introduced me to Calgel, which I had never heard of. I did some reading on Calgel which is reportedly less toxic, last for several weeks and come to find out Oh MyNaIls is the go to nail salon for this nail enhancement in NYC. Who knew, clearly not me. I found Alice to be meticulous and very detailed oriented. She applied the polish with a small brush and very thinly so the nail application looked quite natural and a very "polished" look. No pun intended. I was extremely pleased and plan to make this my go to nail salon while in NYC. So far I have been twice and each time extremely pleased. Hello! Please take this review with a grain of salt bc everyone's experiences are different. I had come to this place for a little bit.... status post the pandemic. My favorite nail salon has closed and I have been hopping around some nail salons in the area to see which one would take care of me the best. I came here shortly after having a great manicure that lasted 4 weeks long. This time I requested the trendy Hailey Bieber chrome nails. I came into the salon Wednesday before my Thursday-Friday shift as a healthcare worker. The next morning around 10am I noticed at my computer, that my nails started chipping. But not one but 4! I was furious because these manicures aren't cheap I paid $120. I reached out to them letting them know what happened and they kindly asked me to stop by the salon at 7:30pm after my 12 hour shift. Unfortunately it was my fault of not getting out of work on time and I made it to the salon at 7:40pm which was already closed (online says 8pm). I was sad but they were nice enough to have me come late that following day (in which I speeded back from bk into the city). I made it and was educated how I needed the "extra strong top coat for the chrome nails cause they chip easily." I told myself fine spend the extra ten dollars because I spent already $120 dollars. The next day at home. The "extra strength" nails polish chipped and continued to collect dirt. I'm furious. How come everyone at my job has nice Hailey Bieber nails that don't chip and mine do? I'm sorry to say I will not be coming back here. I feel like I got robbed, I like to spend money where I know quality is there. This place, it's not it. It could have been my nail tech, but I was really unimpressed. One of the polishes "pooled" and she didn't bother fixing it. It just wasn't very detailed work. Alice did an amazing job and was incredibly meticulous through and through, from nail shaping to ensuring the top coat was slick and coated every nail evenly. Took about 1hr 15-20min including gel removal. Note: The shop is very small, so try to book in advance. They keep it very tidy and wipe down the station before each client! Called same day, early and made an afternoon appointment. Small, quaint shop. Sat next to the head nail stylist...not Sure if she is the owner or just runs the place or just does the best designs there but she had super cute nails and was solving all the booking issues of the day. The reason I'm not sure is bc she didn't bother to greet me or thank me for my visit and showed no owner hospitality. So I broke a Nail while traveling and wanted to try a new place in NYC knowing that my regular place here would be full, for same day. I had gel polish on and needed that removed, and wanted a new gel mani with some current designs but nothing complicated. I chose to go with 6 nails with design; the designs were simple (checkerboard and leopard print). The designs could have been better executed, especially the leopard print. Doesn't look like leopard. The actual mani was lacking, barely cut cuticles, no massage. Final price? $127. Yes, she has a "celeb" following if you go on IG but who doesn't? not worth it. They are fairly quick, speed-wise and not too chatty so that's a plus but wildly overpriced. And yes, that is blood on the pinky cuticle from being cut. read more

I use to go here regularly and I loved my nails. Then I stopped getting my nails done for my own reasons. Last week I got my nails done. Within a few days it chipped. Calgel is supposed to last up to 21 days. Additionally, when I got my nails done the woman cut my cuticles so close I bled on one finger and two others were very sore and developed scabs days later. I called to fix my chipped nail. Whomever I spoke to I made it clear I didn't want the person who originally did my nails because I had a bad experience. The person on the phone didn't even ask me why I had a bad experience, but whatever I let it go. I went tonight to fix my nail and it was the owner who did it for me. I thanked her for being willing to fix my nail and she says, "I have been waiting for you since 2pm with nothing to do." I apologized, and she didn't respond, but then I realized I had no reason to apologize. I made my appointment and I was on time, I didn't ask her to arrive at 2pm to "wait for me" it was rude of her to say that. I didn't want to be there either. I came from work after a long day to fix an error her employee made. Following this, there was discussion about hand models and some of the stuff they do to protect their hands and I asked a question about what do foot models do and she says, "they sit in wheelchairs--cos they can't walk." I'm personally not physically disabled, but I found the comment inappropriate and ableist. I know that may not have been her intention, but it was a micro-aggressive comment and shouldn't be said--joking or not. Between that and the comment about "waiting" for me I prefer not to return. Other than the woman I saw last week they do good nails and at an affordable rate for Calgel, but I want to feel like I'm in an emotionally safe place especially when I'm pampering myself and unfortunately the owner didn't provide that for me. read more

I knew about this place because my friend would always post her nails on IG, and each time, they always look sooooo amazing. So I decided to book an appointment with them. Momo did my nails and had asked if she could do transfer foils on my nails. She was honest with me and told me that they don't last very long and suggested another option. I wanted almond shaped nails, but since my nails were not long enough, she did what she could. I am very happy with the result. She did such a great job that I can't wait to go back and try a different design. This time, I'm going to keep my nails long so I can get that almond shape that I want. The last time I had to sit with a different nail tech from my last two appointments and she was not good. This place is not worth the travel and will never see me again! I thought I booked an appointment here by email during business hours. When the owner offered me a date and time via email, I replied with a confirmation, said yes to the date and time, and confirmed their address. However, when I showed up for the appointment I was told my appointment "wasn't confirmed because the owner failed to ask me for a deposit." It was my first time here so I wasn't aware a deposit was necessary. She never mentioned that in the email thread. Then, the owner who was off-site called it a "miscommunication of both our parts." No, it was her fault entirely. I would have no way of knowing a deposit was required as a first time customer. If that is their procedure, then it was her responsibility to request a deposit once I agreed to the date and time. I asked the nail techs if they wanted me to leave and they told me I could wait for their current clients to be finished and they would take me as a "walk-in" so I agreed to wait. Then, while I was waiting, the owner (who wasn't there) called police on me! Um, she could have just asked me to leave. The police officers were shocked and suggested that I file a Better Business Bureau complaint. One was even nice enough to recommend the nail salon his GF goes to nearby. Do yourself a favor and do NOT come to this salon. The owner of this place is a horrible human being who decided to "customer shame" instead of taking responsibility for her mistake. read more

I have never had nails this bad before in my whole life and I've been getting my nails done since age 7. This place was just no where near an upscale salon. This place was terrible. I'm so disappointed as this place was recommended to me and they are just not ok. Nail process I went in to do gel extensions and I had never done just the gel extensions meaning no plastic tip involved. So I was excited and nervous. I wanted long coffin nails and I provided a picture and the women doing my nails said to me she can't make them as long as the picture but she can make them close to it. She said just a bit shorter then the picture. And I was ok with that so as she start the process (which is pretty darn long) she finishes forming the nails and they look terrible absolutely disgusting, looked like I was going to pay 20 dollars not 100. I just tried to be ok with it. But after she shaped them I lost it. Long story short she took them off and I left. Word of advice AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! Over priced for their work because they are just terrible! Better salons out there people! Trust me for the same price you can get a way better job done. Try Bisou nails. I had to go elsewhere the second time due to time and location. The second place were so bad, it looked like pressed on nails... I just returned yesterday to Oh My Nails and I'm in heaven again! They took good care of me! It was obvious my last work was badly done (by another nail place) but the person doing my nails remained professional and didn't comment. Her comment comes out in her work, my beds were so smooth I now know that other place didn't know what they were doing! Some say it's pricey... it's 50 for a base color and this lasts for 4+weeks, you're dealing with pros...so looking like you've just walked out and gotten your nails done for 4 weeks straight is a bargain to 10-12dollars weekly after chipped nails. They do appointments only and for a reason! I did not feel rushed, I wished I remembered her name, but I think you're lucky with whoever you get. Called to make an appointment for same day service on Friday afternoon for a basic manicure & they were super accommodating & fit me in the schedule. Important to note, they don't do pedicures, just manicures. The place is quite small, but it is NY. Loved the rapport the owner has with her customers, you can tell she really cares & it made it a fun time to be in the salon. This is a scary place. I was over charged several times. They pad the bill and you have no idea what they are talking about because they are liars. If you challenge them they tell you not to come back. Some of the technicians have left and the place is empty when you would expect it to be busy. One technician left because she had Covid. Walked in today and asked if I could get a manicure and one of the ladies who was sitting down doing nothing told me in a indelicate way: "we don't have anything". I asked if they could take me later and once again she replied: no, nothing for today; when was 5pm and the store closes at 8.30. She basically said she didn't care and charged me a $40 fee. In cases of these types of emergencies, you'd think she could offer to reschedule and waive her fee, but she's a greedy and nasty person. I used to come here all the time like 2 years ago for calgel / nail art. They always did a good job and the place was always clean and neat. I went back this past weekend and showed a picture of the nail art I wanted. First of all, the salon itself looks a lot more run down and crowded with the employees things / bags everywhere. It wasn't a great atmosphere and not the cute place it used to be. Also, maybe I should have thought to make an appointment but I just walked in and they basically rushed me and told me that they had all these appointments coming in and that they could start doing my manicure as a solid calgel color and would see if they had time to do art. I also came in with SNS powder gel on and they made a big deal about removing it since they don't do powder there and charged me $30 for removal (calgel removal is $10). Towards the end of the manicure it became clear that they weren't going to do the nail art, but they never told me that specifically. Because of my SNS removal, the solid color manicure cost almost $100 with tip. Fast forward to 3 days later, the tips of my nails are already peeling up and I have chips in my nails. I pay for SNS because it's supposed to last like 20 days. I expect a $100 price tag if I get nail art, but they charged me so much for removal. I usually peel my nails myself because I despise the removal fees but I've been trying to take better care of my nails so decided to let the professionals do it. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be coming back here even though it is so conveniently located to my apartment. There are other places that do calgel nail art where I've had better experiences. I'm going to have to go get another manicure less than a week after this one since this one turned out so terribly. So let's start off by saying this place is very pricey I got nail extensions for 100 bucks if I wanted them longer it would've cost me 160 bucks with a design an additional 60 more bucks and totally my fault for not asking about prices before I sat down in the chair but besides all that let's put that aside my experience at oh my nails was very nice and I didn't quite understand the difference between acrylic nails and nail extensions, and let me say I absolutely love these nail extensions they feel like my real nails and the process was very nice and I feel that this will not break my nails like the acrylic does now I did ask some questions about filling and things like that and to get a filling for these extensions is 70 bucks and if my nail grows and I get a filling it's going to cost more so to maintain these things are gonna cost a little bit more than the acrylic I probably will be back and the service was nice the young lady that did my nails was very nice and I had to give her a $10 tip because she literally did an excellent job on my nails!!! They don't do pedicures but they did tell me they do do lashes but I do have somewhere else that I go for lashes but overall it was a very nice experience very pricey read more
