I've been going to Ken or Molly religiously for three years. At $90-120 a session that's a substantial chunk of change. Today, I made an appointment with Ceci because a nail had opened and I didn't want to risk water getting in and a fungus starting. I couldn't wait til evening to see Ken as I have an event tonight and they can never give you a time, you have to call when he's in and at that point nothing is guaranteed. I cant live my life around the nail salon. I get there, they don't have my appointment in the book, they tell me only Ken knows how to do my nails and they got really nasty and really rude and aggressive. They made me show them on my phone when I called them and then they put the appointment book in front of me and told me to show them where the appt was. Well, it wasn't there bc they didn't put it in. I was treated like a dog who peed on the carpet. Ceci was extremely rude and nasty. But they all really were. It was humiliating and maddening all at the same time. There was a lot of talking amongst themselves in Chinese and ignoring me. A lot of loud aggressive talking. I asked them to take off the nails. They did. I paid $10 and gave Ada a $5 tip and left. Way to treat loyal and high tipping customers. I'm going au natural for now. The good news is my nails are thin and soft but not as bad as I expected. My advice is: only go if Ken is there, he's a professional gentleman. read more

My best friend and I were looking for a good nail place since we would be in this area and we decided to come to this one. We made an appointment for 5 pm on a Friday and I definitely do recommend making an appointment because they were fairly busy when we got there. We had to wait around 10-15 minutes before they were able to get to the two us - in terms of removing our gel nail polish and getting started with our nails. They have a decent color selection in terms of powder or regular gel. I went with a regular gel manicure. Katy was the one who did my nails and she did a great job cutting, filing and shaping my nails. She was also pretty quick (not in a bad way) at painting my nails and after she was finished she gave me a quick back and hand massage which was nice. The pricing for a regular gel manicure was $42 with cash or $48 with card which is comparable to nail salon prices in Manhattan. I believe powder gel nails were $57 with cash. Overall, pretty good experience and I can see myself coming back in the future. The only downside was that - they were not really strict on enforcing wearing masks in the salon (all the workers were wearing it ; but some customers weren't wearing it and some were and they didn't ask to check vaccination cards or anything) so I felt like they definitely could have been stricter on that especially since the seats were pretty close to each other. read more

Since I was in the neighborhood, I thought to check out this place for some pedi given all the great reviews. The place was clean and spacious but there wasn't much else besides that. 1. My pedi was ruined right after I got home - the color on my big toe was smudged. The polish didn't dry off completely even though they checked it before I put on my Ugg. 2. The staff kept pushing for extra services - spa pedicure, massage...etc. Even scrubbing dead skins was an additional $10. 3. Cost - it was a semi expensive salon. When visiting my daughter in NYC I went to this west village nail spa for a dip powder manicure on Monday 2/7/22. I travelled home and went to usual nail salon on Thursday 2/24/22. When my local nail tech removed the dip powder I had received, she found a DISGUSTING FUNGAL INFECTION growing under every single one of my nails. I have NEVER had any type of nail fungus before going to this nail salon. They must NOT SANITIZE their equipment properly for this type of thing to happen to every single one of my nails. I came here recently to get a reg pedi and dip powder manicure because I've been here before for this service and they did an excellent job...not so much this time!! It was a Saturday and I was going to Miami the next day, so I wanted to pamper myself a bit. The last time I came here, the dip powder manicure was AMAZING and lasted me like 3 weeks (the manicurist really took her time and knew what she was doing). Unfortunately this time, the manicurist did a terrible job. I was so disappointed. I understand that it was a Saturday and they were busy, but she rushed through everything like she didn't care at all how it came out! I feel bad writing this, because she was nice, but I don't think it's right when I paid that much money for a service and one of my nails already chipped barely on the 4th day(last night)! 4th DAY! For those of you who know about dip powder, it's supposed to last MUCH longer. She finished everything in under an hour(took her about 45/50 mins for both a pedicure and dip powder), which is what I think had a large affect on this. Lastly, I know nail salons do this this all the time, but I found it pretty annoying how many time she tried up selling me on things that I didn't want. Of course, we've all had someone do this to us and I was good/polite at saying no because it was not something I wanted/needed...but I thought 4/5 times was a bit ridiculous and excessive. Obviously if I wanted something else done, I'd let you know! Maybe I just got unlucky this time with my manicurist and I learned my lesson about coming on a Saturday, but if you do take a chance here, I would suggest coming on a weekday when they're less busy! Although I had to ask for the vibration in my pedi water to be turned on after I saw the lady next to me got hers automatically turned on and I had to take a pillow from the other chair on my back while the other lady got a pillow placed behind her, I was not going to make a big deal out of it but it was noted. This place was a little hard to find. And there was a mystery charge afterwards that no one wanted to clarify to me. The store was clean and I was greeted right away. I like this place because it was one of the only places that does dip powder nails. The nail tech,Lily was very professional and did a good job. She didn't make conversation but her work on my cuticles were great. She did my nails pretty quickly. At the end I didn't like how, when i called in and asked for the price i was told $45 and when it was time to pay they told me it was $48. And then you have to publicly announce how much you are going to tip the nail tech to the whole store. I feel like the business should let the clients input that information themselves. BEWARE: unsanitary conditions. Nail FUNGUS confirmed today by my doctor - two weeks after my appointment I removed the polish and two nails are discolored, foggy and yellowing. Was around the area and decided to look up nail salons on Yelp. This was number 1 on the list within the area I was in, so I decided to try it out. I came for me & my husbands pedicures. They charge $30 for regular pedicure and plus $12 for callus removal. The place is nice inside, nice decor and staff. The only thing that was missing was the pedicure chairs. They didn't have the massage build in the chairs like other nail salons have, where you can control it with the remote. The remote on there chairs can only recline, def needs a pedicure chair upgrade. read more

I have no idea what all these bad reviews are about. I've been seeing Ken for years, my nails always look immaculate. If you're not happy, say something at the moment. If your nail polish gets screwed up, maybe it was an old polish. Just come in and they will fix it at no charge. I feel like some these reviews are one pissed off customer, who got their friends to write reviews. It's ridiculous, they're obviously good, because the place is always packed. TLDR: formerly reliable salon messed up manicure and CHARGED me for the redo, see photos I'll open by saying I had some good dip manicures at Wistaria with different technicians that lasted a long time. I was a regular for just short of a year. However I recently asked to be booked with the nail artist because I wanted to do something a little different for an upcoming trip. When I showed to my appointment I was not sat with the nail artist and received an extremely disappointing and expensive manicure. I'll attach photos of what I asked for vs what I received. The cost was $92 + tip. As soon as I came back from my trip I went in for a redo. Both the nail artist I originally anticipated working with (they only have one) and Coco (other manicurist) who were working during my original appointment seemed unsurprised I was back and referred to the art as bad. Where they went left was charging me the $83 for the redo! I tipped on the original, and I tipped on the redo because I appreciate the employees time and effort. But I will not be returning... $202 worth of manicures in one week is insane! In my opinion, good for a no-frills manicure or pedicure experience. Make an appointment if you can, at peak times they'll turn you away. Don't ask for nail art, get Japanese gel somewhere like Vanity or Akiko. read more

Awesome spot! I walked by and they looked open and asked them their prices. $34 for gel mani if pay cash. $35 with credit. Clean and lots of colors available. they put A lot of care into your nails and really dig into the details. They had a mishap with their credit system and managed it well. They even told someone they could pay them later if they couldn't go to an atm or venmo. She was a regular but still that was really nice. I like how well maintained and organize the facilities were. And for NYC I think their prices are reasonable. If I'm in the area I'll definite be back. I have been coming to Wistaria every three weeks for over three years now. Same nail tech too - Cici. In March 2020 when the salon had to close due to COVID-19, I was genuinely worried that the salon would never open again. More importantly, I worried about the staff. Coming to Wistaria Nail Spa is usually the best part of my week because the staff is so nice and you feel taken care of when you go. When I thought Wistaria closed for good, I actually started to cry. I care about this place so much and I worried I'd never see Cici, Ken, and the Wistaria staff again! After six months, I finally went back to Wistaria last night and it was incredible. I was greeted by Ken, who was a sight for sore eyes. He is so sweet and you can tell how much he cares about his customers. When I got my nails done by Cici, she remembered the shape of nail I like without me even having to tell her. If you're looking for a clean and safe place to go and get a manicure or pedicure, pick Wistaria. I have NEVER been disappointed by this salon. Their attention to detail is unlike anything I've never seen. And this attention to detail and quality never changes. I have pretty high standards when it comes to nail salons. A hugeee shoutout to Tina and Ken, who are incredibly talented in what they do and deliver nothing less than perfection. I really wanted to like this place cos it's close to my hair stylist, so I thought two birds one shot but I am honestly very disappointed. I walked in and was shown to a attendant immediately, they asked me to choose a color from the wall after which they motioned me towards a technician. I try asking her questions but she can't speak English so she kept asking the technician beside her to communicate who gave very curt answers. I changed my mind and asked for gel nails and there's a technician change cos she can't do gel nails. The technician who comes in next is very rough with my hands, even though I told her one finger has a cut on it and to be gentle. The whole time she was chatting with the neighboring technician in Mandarin/Cantonese and doesn't make any dialogue with me, not a single sentence. At one point, my thumb didn't dry properly and she immediately yelled out something which made everyone give me a dirty look. After two minutes, she exasperatedly explains that I didn't put the hand under the UV dryer properly. I was really pissed off. Between coats she would go to some other customer and starts doing their nails. I had a good mind not to tip her but I am nicer than that. I'll never come back to this place. I've been going to wistaria for many years and have always recommended it to my friends, especially for acrylics + gel. However I'm not able to continue going here as they've raised their prices and it's $95 now for acrylics, even when paying with cash. Previously it was $75 I used to bring my own gel polish because their color selection is not great for gel polish, and then they started charging $8 for me to use my own polish. The quality of the nail service last time I was there was also not good- some of the nails were not smoothed around the edges and the gel polish chipped the same day. It's unfortunate because it doesn't encourage me to adopt this new price - there's no increase in quality. I also realized that their loyalty card is not a good deal at all if you go for acrylics - you need to go 10 times to get 10% off your service, which is basically spend $1000 to get $10 back (1%) $110 for an acrylic set + tip with no nail art whatsoever and $8 more if I bring my own polish is just too expensive. I love Wistaria and wish I could keep going but there are other places in the city which do tips for the same price and have interesting gel polishes with cool effects or nail art options like stickers - this place hasn't updated their gel polish book in years. read more

Ive been doing acrylic on my nails for YEARS, and when I asked for an ACRYLIC FILL they said "of course!". They begin my manicure and when it gets time to apply the acrylic, she started applying powder?? I said "um is that acrylic?" and she said "no we dont have acrylic, powders stronger anyways.". Then why would you take me when I asked for an ACRYLIC fill? I should have been told up front that they dont offer my services. Not to mention the girl that did my nails made two of my fingers bleed and was so beyond aggressive with me. She almost seemed angry that I knew she was wrong. 3 nails broke within a week, for almost $80.... My normal nail tech at home said this had completely ruined my set and I had to start over with a fresh set of acrylics because they cant put acrylic over powder. Had my nails done here for my wedding. Got a full set and the guy who did them did a mostly good job. It was so busy I waited 30 min past my appointment time. They also were doing people's nails everywhere they could, in pedicure chairs or by the drying tables etc. there were a few spots on my nails that looked like he missed the top coat but I didn't have time to have it fixed. He also had the phone by him and it rang every 2 minutes and he answered it constantly so it wasn't a very peaceful experience. They also do not have any rhinestones or glitter options! Went back today and had the set removed and got a gel manicure. Much quieter tonight but still tons of weird air bubbles all over that look like the top coat didn't work. I had called at 7:15pm on a Saturday night to see if they could fit me in, and even though they closed at 8pm they were more than welcoming even though once I got there and chose the powder gel nails (which takes over an hour..
