Sasaki Fine Pastry is a specialty shop focused on Japanese daifuku, mochi, and traditional…read moredesserts, with a menu that centers on handmade sweets rather than a full bakery selection. We walked into a small space located inside J-Town, where the display case offers a wide variety of rotating flavors, making it easy to try something different with each visit. The shop is more of a grab-and-go stop than a place to sit for an extended visit, but the quality of the desserts makes it worth the short stop. The daifuku is the highlight here. The mochi has an incredibly soft, delicate texture that is not overly chewy, and the fillings are smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet. We tried a few flavors and found each one distinct, with the matcha, hojicha, and black sesame versions standing out for their depth of flavor. The strawberry and mango options offered a lighter, fruitier contrast, while the seasonal specials gave a reason to come back and see what was new. The dorayaki is also worth trying, with soft pancakes and a generous filling that pairs well with a cup of tea or coffee, and the texture of the pancakes held up well against the sweetness of the filling. Since everything is made fresh, popular flavors can sell out later in the day, so visiting earlier gives you the best selection. We noticed that the display case was fullest in the morning, and a few items were already gone by the afternoon. Individual pieces are priced higher than standard bakery desserts, but the quality and attention to detail help justify the cost. The freshness of the mochi and the care in the preparation are evident in each piece, and the flavors are well developed without relying on excessive sweetness. Sasaki Fine Pastry is one of the better places to try fresh Japanese mochi and daifuku in the Toronto area. The wide variety of flavors, consistently soft texture, and carefully made fillings make it an easy stop whether you are already visiting J-Town or specifically looking for authentic Japanese desserts. The combination of craftsmanship, freshness, and thoughtful flavor combinations makes it a destination worth seeking out for anyone who appreciates traditional Japanese sweets.

He explained he came from a long way.. I asked the lady if there will be more mochis as only a few mango's left. She said it will take time to make more and to come back at 4 pm. I find it makes no sense at all to come back an hour before they closed and they are not open on Sundays and Mondays.. so what happens they cannot sell the remaining on Sunday ? Anyhow, go early

Their main location is in Mississauga, and they expanded to North York a few years ago. Service is nice and cheerful, making you feel quite welcome. I like their drink selection that has some interesting things like black sesame latte, tiramisu latte, and grapefruit tea. Their dessert select is good too, with things big and small. Their rolls and cakes are excellent, with plenty of cream, not too sweet. The cakes are beautifully glazed and decorated. The sweet potato cake is fluffy and light. The mont blanc has a nice chestnutty flavour, but is a bit too sweet for my liking. At the moment, they are selling Korean dubai chewy cookies, but we'll see how long this fad lasts...

But she was right LOL. It was really good, and it was even better than the desserts at the restaurant we had dinner at that night. We cut the 6" cheesecake into 12 small pieces, and it was perfect for a sweet little treat at the end of our meal :) The staff were courteous and ready to help. It was quite busy even on a Saturday evening around 6pm. There are also tables inside the shop for dining in. Other than whole cakes, they do have slices of cakes available and other mini desserts + a lot of macarons! We did request the shop to write HBD on the cake, but the staff said they are unable to do it at this location (not sure why, maybe don't have the proper tools?). We also tried asking for a candle; we ended up having to buy a pack of 6 candles at the shop :\

Their designs are abundant on the website and they really get the design to a tee, it was PERFECT. Flavour selection is pretty good and I did have a short call with them while ordering on their site to determine which flavour was recommended as well as what colours I wanted the cake design to emphasize. I had to check Google reviews to confirm instructions on their location, but when I got to the Langham Square plaza it was easy enough to find based on their address (unit number 2006). Staff gave clear instructions at pick up to keep the cake in the floor of the car during transport and to store the cake in a fridge until ready to eat. The box for transport was great because I got to check the design easily before leaving and the ribbon was tightly wrapped to secure the box cover to the base. The staff speak Mandarin as well as English. Payment was all done online beforehand. Highly recommend ordering their cakes for any event!

I liked how thoughtful they were with the cake box, including cutlery and serving platters. The location is very tucked away inside the T&T plaza on 2nd

Staff were very friendly and keep giving out samples :) Plus, the portion and flavour were very satisfying especially considering the price (very affordable!) Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.
