We recently had extensive basement work completed by Ohio Basement Authority, and couldn't be move satisfied!! From the initial experience with salesman Brendan Kent, to the work completed by Jose, Sergio, and Angel, this has been an extremely pleasant experience!!!! The consultation with Brendan was pressure-free, and he stayed at my house for 3 hours, developing a quote that worked for our financial and repair needs. Since this was a very, very extensive repair, he was patient with me regarding the financing and monthly payment, and I didn't feel rushed. I was, and am still, very impressed. I've never had a sales experience like this. We found all these problems only six weeks into ownership of our first house. I wish I had the same experience as most of you, but the service tech they sent to my house (older gentleman, tall) was a complete POS. He showed up a little early which was great but when I asked him to put on booties or takeoff his shoes, he said he didn't have any, I would need to reschedule. I said that's fine. Not a problem. a few minutes later he called my husband saying he does have booties, He can be back in 10 minutes. I said OK. he comes back in with the booties and walks down to the basement, Looks around for a few seconds and tells me I need a waterproof system. so I said OK, what's a waterproof system? he looks at me and says oh you don't know what that is? I said no. He then proceeds to tell me that I am wasting his time and someone was supposed to be there that knew what he was talking about that this is a giant waste of his time, and I need to reschedule with someone that has less knowledge than him, and proceeds to walk away. I assume all of his next appointments are inspectors, plumbers, or contractors, unfortunately I wasn't aware that this was a requirement for getting a quote. Hopefully he can pull the giant stick out of his a** before walking into anyone else's home. I did email this business owner as requested on April 12th. I have not heard back from them. I had also called the company the day of this incident, the lady I spoke to was nice enough but ultimately never bothered to follow back up with me hence the review. read more

Had 4 different companies come to look at my basement. The person came on time checked in with me ahead of time and was very polite. They told me I needed waterproofing that would cost approx. 25k. The other companies told me something completely different. My walls and foundation are fine. I do not recommend as they are pushing a product and work on commission. read more

I posted our review of Ohio Basement Authority too quickly. BEWARE of this company. Now we've had water in our basement and have been struggling to get assistance. You know that life time guarantee may not be so great if you can't get assistance and repair if needed. Our salesperson assured us that if we went for the whole house waterproofing our basement would be dry. Well, that is not the case. And that wouldn't be the worst. What is the worst is not following up after multiple calls regarding wet walls in the basement. They finally sent a guy out who then explained why it would cost us MORE than the original amount we paid and said he would send a quote. Well, that was December 1st, no follow up. Two additional phone calls and no return calls. Lifetime guarantee isn't helpful if you can't use it. I have to question the integrity of this company at this point. I previously posted a negative review regarding a refund check but since took that down, owing to it being determined to be due to my own oversight. In short, OBA did a job on my basement, and was successful in fixing a persistent but small leak. The original assessment was over estimated, and the actual work did not require as extensive a job as originally proposed. I was promised a refund of that amount. Fast forward a crazy spring/summer dealing with back to back family health issues, moving, work, etc, and I could not recall if I got the check. I could not locate the deposit information in my bank activity and I grew worried that I may have never received the check. However, it was determined with the help of Makensie Andrews and Joe Manion from OBA that this was not the case and that together, we determined that the check was indeed cashed and that the reason I could not locate activity was because the specific amount was hidden in a sum total of a few other checks, a deposit amount of which was batched together with other deposits that day, so I overlooked it. Needless to say, I was extremely embarrassed, and apologized profusely for the headaches I put them through, but Joe was very understanding and professional. Overall, the job was a successful job, the refund check came as promised, staff remained professional at all times, and communication was great. Would recommend! read more

Richard Motsch Ohio Basement Authority Fixed our cracked basement walls in March of 2017. The total cost was $14,700.00 plus. Less than tree years later we had to have another company install I beams on the walls that showed new cracks around Ohio Basement Authorities small metal plates (from Ohio Basement Authorities over tightening). When we had the new I beams installed by a different vender and they had to actually take off some of Ohio Basement Authorities plates that was installed by Ohio Basement Authority, because they were in the way of the new I beams and (where the cracking of the wall was). I had Ohio Basement Authority out to check out the new cracks and they said we needed piers put under our footer at addional $21,000.00. And that must of been a Ohio Basement Authority guess. So I contacted a structural engineering company which was nonbiased and to get their nonbiased opinion. Their solution was to put I beams every 4'-5 horizontally' linear feet . The (structural engineer said put the I beams from the floor to the to the ceiling vertically every 4'- 5' apart with a heavy spring pressure at the top. They also said that the Ohio Basement Authorities small plates are putting too much pressure on a small area. And that is causing the new wall cracks. Exactly the same as our new basement contractor suggested. The point I am making is, Ohio Basement Authorities small plates puts too much pressure on a small area of the wall. That is the reason our walls is having new cracking. I also have pictures of all the new cracks. read more

Made an appointment with Alan (513 880-8284) at Ohio Basement Authority. When he told me to allow 90 minutes for the appointment I pointed out that what I needed was an estimate on a sump pump and that shouldn't take anywhere near that long. He recommended 90 minutes so the entire basement could be assessed. I told him I had been in the house over 30 years and I know the basement and what I needed was a sump pump. OBA never showed up for the appointment. Nor did they follow-up on my reply to their survey on how the appointment went. On that surey I reported that no one showed up. Why might that be? Could it be that OBA was more interested in trying to sell me on a bunch of basement work I didn't need as opposed to providing only the service I needed? read more

Signed up to have steel reinforcement beams installed to prevent further shifting in a basement wall. The installer showed up and pushed us to go with carbon fiber instead. He insisted that it would not impact cost or timing--he even showed us pricing that would have been higher with the carbon fiber, despite our originally being told it was a cheaper option. We explained that timing is important and he insisted that the permit change and additional inspection would only take a week, so we agreed and they performed the work. We scheduled drywall repair two weeks from the install date and flooring installation the week after that--work that we need to complete in order to sell the house (our primary residence, but we recently moved). We checked in several times but never received a response (despite being told someone would follow up), but kept at it until we finally managed to learn that no permit change had been submitted. They finally told us it was submitted (two weeks later), but when we checked with the township they said they didn't have it. We are now waiting for the permit to be delivered, and have now been told that it will take four weeks from delivery of the change for approval and another week at least to schedule the inspection. In the meantime we have had to reschedule the drywall and flooring out to indeterminate dates, and we are at least a month and a half out from being able to list the house, with all that means in terms of additional mortgage payments and, in the current rising interest rate environment, housing market risk. Bottom line is that the installer pushed us into a product that was likely easier and more profitable for the company and lied about the timing of the required permit change and never filed the paperwork to have the permit change processed. The customer service is unresponsive and we have repeatedly been told the manager is unavailable--in a meeting or on vacation or some other excuse for calling us back, which they never do. This is costing us real money and exposing us to additional housing market risk, and forced us to reschedule with two other contractors. I would never recommend Ohio Basement Authority. read more

Everything was done on time and they did great work. The gentleman that did the work called me with updates and sent pictures when done to make sure I was happy with what he did (I was at work). I contacted this company to put anchors in a outside retaining wall that has dirt on one side and my driveway on the other. I specifically asked if they did this work. I was told yes. I have the texts to prove it. I even sent pictures of the wall to be anchored. The appointment was made a week in advance. The day before the appointment I was left a message saying they don't do this kind of work. It was already verified that they did this work. As I said I even sent pictures. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Ohio Basement Authority! My sister called me after receiving an outrageous quote from another basement company. We were both interested in encapsulating our crawl space. Not only was the other companies quote astronomical it came from a very pushy salesman. She asked around and heard great things about Ohio Basement Authority. Travis, their inspector came to her house and not only was she blown away by his knowledge but the quote was a fraction of the other guy. I had him come give me a quote a few days later. Travis spent a lot of time inspecting my basement and educating me on the options they provided. He was patient with me and in no way pushy. I chose to have a new sump pump installed and to have my crawl space done. Dave and Devin came to do the installation and they could not have been more professional and friendly. I was treated as though I was a family member. They even put up with my overly friendly dog! Devin went to work right away while Dave spoke to me about what exactly they were doing. They were respectful of my home and I couldn't be happier with the end result. They truly went above and beyond! I will be using this company again for insulation and a radon system. This is an update to my earlier review in January about foundation work performed by OBA. On 7/13/18 OBA sent a crew (Larry and Brian) to do a complimentary regrade of the soil that had been disturbed during the foundation work on the garage. Once again, OBA's work was stellar. The office staff were courteous and got me on the schedule quickly, and the crew was polite, friendly and did a great job. During the foundation work, several large concrete slabs and threshold stones had been unearthed and set aside on my neighbors' property (their fence sits back several feet from the property line so part of their land looks like it's our property), and Larry and Brian moved them back onto our property. They also put wood stakes on either side of a survey marker that was going to end up under the soil so that we would still know its location. They checked with me throughout the job to make sure everything was done the way I wanted. The ground around the garage looks great (all the weeds around the garage got buried too!)--thank you Larry and Brian! Six months after the foundation work, the garage itself is looking good. There are no new cracks, and the repairs OBA did to the old cracks are holding beautifully. From the beginning of the foundation work to the finishing touch of the regrade, Ohio Basement Authority did a wonderful job. Like I said in my earlier review, I highly recommend them, and I would call them again in a heartbeat! read more

I highly recommend Ohio Basement Authority for any basement issues! After calling Oh BA this morning, due to a sump pump alarm sounding, I found both Jenny and Mackenzie to be very helpful in assisting me. I eventually talked to technician Jeff who advised me via the phone. After the alarm continued, I called OH BA again and was told, by Mackenzie, that Jeff would come to my home within half an hour. Jeff resolved the issue, after working hard to trace the problem and had the sump pump working again. He was very knowledgeable, as well as personable, and educated me on various features. read more

Our front porch slab was cracked and sinking, no longer level. OBA quoted ~$4500 to relevel broken section and caulk the crack/break. Guaranteed for only 5 years... Found another vendor to do the job right, completely remove old slab, construct new slab with rebar and footer support for under $2000! Vendor used might have been cheaper because they don't have TV commercials, corporate staff, and shiny work trucks... Who wants to pay for all that? read more

The tech arrived on time for the evaluation of my problem knowing that I had work done by someone else. He suggested replacing the entire drainage line which I just had replaced. The problem wasn't the line but where it was attached to the downspout and the sump discharge. They refused the job based on that it was wasn't big enough for them to send out a crew to fix my problem. My problem is big and somewhat of an emergency. Water is pooling near my house and recycling through the sump. Beware. If you don't have a big enough $$$ job, they aren't going to work with you. I felt like I was about to get taken. I was originally excited to have Ohio Basement Authority come service my waterline that is leaking. I had my appt 5/15/20, where I was quoted $1800, I signed the contract and provided a $500 down payment during the appt. I was informed I would receive a call later that day or Monday 5/18/20 to schedule my project. I never received a call. On 5/20/20, Ohio Basement Authority randomly showed up to my house at 8:30am. The individual wanted to re-inspect the project, and after inspection, changed the project and said it would cost more than the original agreed contract. He did not give me a price, but said the sales team would contact me later that day to inform me of the price. Once again, I never received a call. A week and half later, on 5/27/20, I called Ohio Basement Authority and left a voicemail after no one answered, with the request for a return call, the new price, and when can I schedule the project. Remember, my waterline is leaking. Again, no return phone call. Today, 5/29/20, I spoke with someone, and explained that I would like to schedule and ask for the new price of the project would be, I was placed on hold for 7 minutes, then the phone disconnected on their end. Once again, they never called back. So now, I gave Ohio Basement Authority $500 two Fridays ago, my waterline is still leaking, and I am yet to schedule or know the new price of the project. Basement Authority did work on our home in 2015 with a transferable warranty. As new home owners we called to get information about the work done because we are having issues. They said we would have to pay $150 transfer fee before they would give us any information about the work. We don't have a problem with a transfer fee but we do have serious issues with the fact that they will not reveal any information about past work. On the other hand, Basement Doc sent pictures and a complete report. My experience tells me that Basement Doc is a more reputable company. read more

We had Ohio Basement Authority (OBA) assess our basement in July and perform work based on their recommendation which included water proofing and carbon fiber strips installed on our basement walls. We paid for all services they recommended. In October, we were in the process of selling our house. Our buyers, uncomfortable with a small slope in our floor, asked OBA to come out and assess. OBA sent an associate with no structural engineering background (he has a Sports Administration degree and worked in sports venues prior to joining OBA 1 year ago) and draft a recommendation for our buyers which included the suggestion that we needed to add 2 supports in our basement, as well as lift the slightly sloping floor. Unsurprisingly, our buyers walked from the home sale. Shocked and concerned, as we had never been told this information by OBA when they performed work mere months ago, we had an actual structural engineer asses and he deemed our house well supported and stated that the placement of the supports OBA suggested did not make sense. As a customer that trusted OBA and their services I am alarmed that: 1) they left out recommendations in their initial assessment for us, 2) they send out unqualified sales people to make claims about structural issues that do not align with recommendations of structural engineers, 3) they felt justified making these claims related to a home sale inspection. Their carelessness has caused significant inconvenience to us in the form of our home sale falling through. Very irresponsible business. read more

We asked them to level our kitchen floor. They said they could do it by installing jacks in the crawlspace. They did that... and while it fixed one area, it simply made a different area worse. In the end, we spent thousands of dollars and still have an uneven floor. read more

Inexperienced workers, and company is not financially responsible for bad work done. Sale Representative was very helpful until I had problems, then would not return calls, and would tell me he was on vacation every time I called, saying he would call back, but never did. I told the work director that there was problem with the wood joists and to please take a close look before work, because they may not be able to support the work being done. he said he reviewed them and they were fine. Then on day 2, they told me the joists were not able to be used for the work (support beam and new jacks), and they would not complete the job. I was quoted $19,000 for Cleanup, sump pump, 6 jacks, steel beam and full vapor barrier install on dirt floor of the crawlspace. They only finished, clean up, sump Pump (which they never plugged in - I found out later), and 2 jacks - the company would only refund me $6000 saying that labor was most of the costs, but the first quote from the workers said they had finished $9000 worth of the work, and I should receive a $10,000 refund. I only got $6000 of that, so I paid $13,000 for clean up, a sump pump never plugged in, and 2 jacks. This company is not responsible with their business handlings! read more
