He was articulate explaining the displacement, likely root causes, prevention and mitigation steps, repair options, and the pros/cons of each approach. During the walkthrough he discussed the areas of concerns and created a visual diagram of the forces interacting on the basement walls, how its displacing the wall, and how it will be repaired. The quote contained all these areas with the total cost of repair + the project plan to resolve it. How many straps, their locations, mortar joints that will be replaced, and a 5 foot section of basement slab that needed removed to clear out the flush ports underneath and replace with new concrete. What I appreciated the most was Tyler's engineering approach. Root cause, resolution, and cost. He identified a couple areas not pointed out by other contractors that required addressing and his quote was still in line despite the additional work. And I never got the impression he tried to create work for a higher invoice. I 100% would hire Tyler and Basement Remedy if I ever purchase another house with basement issues again.

I hired them to lift three garage slabs. Instead, they cracked two slabs into seven pieces, then stopped working because the concrete was "cracked beyond a level of safely lifting." Their crew created the damage, then used it as the reason they couldn't finish the job. My garage floor is still 2-3 inches lower than the surrounding slabs, making it unusable for parking and failing to meet the work promised in the contract. I spent over $11,000 for work on my garage and pool area. The result is a broken garage and multiple trip hazards they created themselves--the same hazards they use during sales presentations to justify additional work. Around my pool, one slab now sits higher than the surrounding deck, another remains lower and was left separated instead of being repositioned flush. My property is in worse condition than before they started. Management ignored my calls for three months. When they finally responded, the attitude was hostile, with statements like, "We're not responsible for our salesman's promises," and "We don't level." Once they're paid, don't expect responsive customer service. If something goes wrong, be prepared to spend months fighting just to get someone to acknowledge the problem. To make matters worse, I later learned that completely demolishing and replacing the sunken concrete would have cost about 40% less than the foam lifting system they sold me--and their foam is already showing signs of settlement. He promptly responded to my Yelp inquiry, took the time for a phone consultation beforehand, worked around my schedule, and arrived right on time. He did a careful inspection (we live here and I certainly don't want to live with mold), clearly explained what he found, and provided a well-written inspection letter I could submit to my lender. Marcos provided us with a thorough estimate broken down by cost of each item/phase, and even worked with us when the financing didn't come through on time (they were the least expensive of the estimates, and I believe you get what you pay for, but MBR is a true old-fashioned company and simply doesn't overcharge). Also, they were available months sooner than other companies, although that's not why I chose them. MBR did all 4 walls including the Everydry wall, fixing what that company had done wrong (mold behind the sheeting, one I beam was installed incorrectly and was too short to be used, so thanks a lot, Everydry. Never use one of the big companies!) MBR reinstalled everything correctly and reinforced each beam the way it should have been done in the first place. In addition to the waterproofing, they dug a trench all the way from the back of the house to the street to run a drainage line, incorporating the new sump with an old one to work in tandem and drain far away from the house. Honestly, I've never seen any human work as fast as they dug that day! Now the weep holes are in place, the sheeting is up on the Michigan walls, and they installed extra panels further up on the wall. There were several areas where Miguel just did extra, because it should be done the right way. This is a new standard for contractors, I'll tell you that. And thanks for helping fix my refrigerator doors!! BTW, I'm posting this review in several places so people can find this great company.
