We have been using Ohio Mulch for decades. They have always been a good provider of mulch and garden supplier. Ohio Mulch has expanding supply of tools that are quality and reasonably priced. I'm really surprised of the negative review and think this is a "Bogus Yelp Thing". Yelp has a review filter that they say is impartial, but I believe it is it incentivize their AD CAMPAIGN. I ordered 300 bags of ultra mulch #421, 1.5 cubic foot bags. When my delivery arrived I received 420 bags of #9422, 1.0 cubic foot bags. This shorted me 30 cubic feet of mulch that I paid for. I contacted the store and they told me to contact the main office which I did. They requested pictures of what was delivered and I provided them. I was advised that they had made an error and would have the additional bags delivered the next day. That occurred on April 27. I still have not received the mulch. I have attempted to contact them by email several times since with no response. read more

Do NOT use Ohio Mulch. I had top soil delivered over a week ago. I had originally scheduled the delivery date for Friday, September 22 so I could be home when it was delivered. The delivery date had to be changed to Saturday because of inventory issues, which is totally fine, but I wasn't going to be home. I was ensured that was OK. I came home Saturday afternoon to find three of the trees along my driveway damaged and my gate bent and broken (it no longer closes). I emailed on Sunday morning with photos of the damage and received a quick response from the customer service team telling me a director would contact me. It took 5 days to get a call back after emailing and calling multiple times. Then, I was told someone would come to fix my gate. I specifically said I needed to be home when they were there. A Patrick followed up with me on Monday and arranged with me to come by Thursday morning while I was home. Today (Wednesday), I got a notification from my front door camera where I watched someone from Ohio Mulch take my gate from my property without me being home. No call, no email, no text. They just took my gate without me knowing and after I specifically gave them dates and times I would be home. I'm fuming. read more

We ordered bulk topsoil over the phone with a specific delivery date. Their operations team made an error (they admitted they were at fault) and delivered a week early before we were ready for it. They dumped it blocking half our driveway and the mailbox which is illegal. Upon talking with the VP of Sales, they were sorry we were "frustrated" but refused to pick it up and redeliver on original agreed upon date and also said they could not refund us. More like they didn't care to help on their error. First and LAST time we will ever purchase anything from Ohio Mulch! read more

Trust has been built with Ohio Mulch. I started getting landscaping supplies a couple years ago. Lewis Center and Olentangy locations have been excellent at tracking down pine needles and working through an issue with river rocks that was absolutely made right by Regional Manager Ron Frost. This took some time and patience. Manager David at Lewis Center is very caring, professional, and hardworking resource. I greatly thank Ohio Mulch for there help for over two seasons now. Placed order about two weeks in advance. Order confirmations dated I would likely get call regarding delivery. No call, call twice and was told eventually that it could come anytime before dark. After 8:00 and still no delivery. Definitely would not recommend. Especially if you are planning to actually attempt to mulch on day of order. Book ends - Ron Frost, the area retail manager, and my delivery guy, Fred get high ratings, 4-5 stars. EVERYTHING in-between was terrible. They missed two delivery dates, even after I checked on the delivery schedule the day prior to the promised dates. Both times I was assured the deliveries were scheduled. Then the next day no call, no notice, no-show. Both times my landscaper was scheduled in to put down the mulch. I ended up paying him for time and travel - out of pocket $100. Follow-up calls to Ohio Mulch the following mornings of both no-shows led to a round-robin of transfers and Ohio Mulch customer service responses of "I don't know." The first three customer service representatives made it VERY clear they didn't care. At one point I was actually asked by the CSR to call their HQ and asked for better tools to follow up with customers to which I responded "You want me to call them? Are you kidding? I'm the customer!" The one exception was my last call to Ohio Mulch Worthington and, following two long transfers, I reached a CS rep who started out by asking "How can I help you Sweetheart?" I explained to her I wasn't her Sweetheart, but I was a pissed off customer. I was ASSURED by her that she could see my mulch order staged outside her office and waiting for a truck to pick it up for delivery that afternoon - "its a sure thing Sweetheart." Hmm. As soon as I hung up with her my phone rang - it was Fred outside my garage with my order. I guess "sweetheart" got lied to by their CSR or Ohio Mulch has a Star Trek transporter!! I took her up on her offer to call HQ and got Ron who apologized profusely and said my delivery charge would be credited back...we'll see. This is clearly a management issue in Worthington. I have used Ohio Much for years and have been very happy with the service. I get it, staffing is an issue all over. However, when visiting the Riverside location today I was met with the rudest response to what I thought was a very basic question. All was required was a yes or no response. Excuses about not having the time to write a small tag (2 words)for the bins that they were out of stock were not needed for a customer that was about to buy SEVERAL bags of mulch. But no worries, I'll just go somewhere else. BTW, I had visited the Roberts Road location the day before and received very good service from a very nice young lady with the same challenges at that location. So it can be done! read more

The only thing special about the mulch is the cost. I just paid $50 for a yard of black triple shred. Yikes!! That's $15 more than Jamie's, just down the road and $17 more than County Line Mulch in Mason. County Line has the best of the 3. I've been dragging my heels buying mulch and glad I did! There was a flash sale offered for the mulch I wanted to purchase, so I went down to the Riverside location and ordered 40 bags. Deontay helped me out and was very professional and kind. There is a sign warning they are not liable for any damage to car while loading, but he was concerned about my suspension and offered to let me come back for the other half of my purchase. It ended up working out (we loaded up the front seat!!!) but I appreciated him looking out! The pricing was amazing and I appreciated Deontay taking the time to load up 40 bags of mulch in the heat! I stopped at the Paltaskla location to buy mulch. There were no other customers, just me. I went into the store and waited about 5 to 10 minutes and no one came in to take my order. I seen a couple guys out by some skids ( in the front of the store ) talking and I'm pretty sure they were working there due to the fact no one else was around. I finally left..This is not my first bad experience at this location. Ran into a very rude person that waited on me a couple of years ago.. Went online on April 20th and was told the first available delivery date was May 25th(!?). Not happy but paid and scheduled. My mom called the following day and received her mulch on May 12th. Bad sign. But ok. On May 25th I get home from work. No mulch. I call and a very nice lady answered and told me to talk to the manager. That no one is getting their mulch. That corporate put a special on the website for next day delivery last week and now everything is pure chaos. I talk to the manager and he promises the mulch will be delivered Friday the 26 by noon. No mulch. I call and ask to talk to manager. He won't come to the phone. The same lady from yesterday answered and said only manager can make sure I get the delivery. After 10 minutes on hold a second lady vibes to the phone and says she knows that my order is from April and she is really sorry. She will make sure the order either comes that evening or Saturday. No mulch. I drive trip the store. Manager is there. Says he will solve the problem. I ask for his managers contact info. He gives me the phone number. I call and leave a message. No return call. I ask Caleb to please get back to me with some resolution. No return contact. Before closing I call again. Speak to a different gentleman who says maybe I should go to Lowe's or home Depot because it is very unlikely that Ohio mulch is capable of meeting their obligations and time soon. I feel badly for Ohio mulch employees. Corporate set then up to fail and a abandoned them. And screwed over all their prepaid customers and doesn't have enough integrity to admit it. read more

I needed a cu yard of mulch, went to the Roberts Rd. location, as I have for years. Not quite remembering what the product number was I needed I said I think I need 1940, and then physically put my hand on the kind I needed, it was 1950. The clerk rang up the wrong product, so obviously she was not listening to me, never a thank you, seemed more interested in chatting with the other clerk. The error was discovered in the yard and the loader said I could go gt the $5 refund. I said it was't worth the hassle and he said "oh you had _____." Terrible. Order placed on 23 April with a delivery date of 3 May, which I picked to give them time bc I figured they were busy. On 5 May I called and told them I haven't received my order, which they responded would be there by 6pm. On 7 May they told me they can't give me an estimated delivery date. I understand it's a busy time of year but if your unable to give customers an expected delivery date for an order already paid for, that's already late, you should probally stop taking so many orders or just go out of business. I scheduled my yard work around this delivery And am now screwed. Update: it is 9 May and I still haven't received my mulch. I was guaranteed delivery yesterday by 6 pm, and today they are telling me again, they cannot provide delivery day. I will be requesting a refund and never using them again. Note: we are (were?) repeat customers. One star for service. Ordered bulk mulch (truck load), set up delivery date. Delivery date arrived. I called in the morning to get an "estimate" of delivery time. They didn't have our paperwork of purchase on "the board" for delivery. After being on hold for 12 minutes while staff researched purchase, getting manager involved, and discussing delivery time, the "manager" said he'd hand the paperwork to delivery person when he returned, so it would be next. So I figured 45 minutes for delivery return to shop, 30 minutes to reload truck, 30 minutes to drive to location. 3 hrs later, still no delivery! Called twice to get status. On hold for 5 minutes, some one dropped call, and it wasn't me. Called back again, the person said they haven't been able to get contact driver... going to voicemail... still waiting for status. Update: delivery finally arrived. No one called with an update as promised. To add icing to this cake... the driver didn't lower the truck bed before driving away so he left little piles of mulch along our neighborhood's road. It looked terrible as I left the neighborhood to finally start my day, 4 hours wasted. Oh wait, it gave me time to write this review so maybe someone else can benefit. You definitely need to take your business somewhere else. I picked up 15 bags of mulch and 7 of them were just a dried, hard, plasticy package of white stuff -- the white powdery mold that you sometimes see x1000. The mulch was unusable as it had fused completely solid. It was like hard plastic. I've never seen anything like it. Repeated calls, texts,and messages to owner and manager brought promises of a delivery of replacement bags. But in the end, nothing. I will gladly pay twice what I would have at Ohio Mulch since that's what the bottom line ended up being. read more

My experience is exactly the same as other people who have posted here. I was given a delivery date, then told they ran out of mulch. Someone called to tell me the mulch was now in but they had no idea when they would be able to deliver. I had previously experienced poor customer service with them a few years ago but decided to give them another chance. Clearly things have not improved and I will never purchase from them again. I ordered 60 bags of mulch two weeks prior to a set delivery date to coincide with me laying the mulch over the weekend. On the afternoon of the expected delivery date they called me and told me that their "one" delivery truck was broken down for two days so my Friday scheduled delivery needed to be pushed back to next Tuesday or Wednesday. And they refused to offer any pricing discount or anything else for the inconvenience even though they missed their target delivery date and did not inform me until that date arrived even though the delay was known a few days earlier. Bad experience, 2 years running. Ordered online and picked delivery based on there online availability calendar May 12th. May 11th, I got phone call saying they moved delivery to 16th, but needed to call to confirm. Once I called them back after being in work meetings, they told me June 11th. Sat on hold for 29 minutes and they still said June 11th is earliest available delivery. Completely unacceptable and bad business practice! They have a disclaimer stating your delivery date may be moved, but are you kidding me- 1 month. DO NOT BUY MULCH HERE. I ordered 100 bags to be delivered the next weekend. No mulch delivered. Called the store and overheard one employee telling another that nobody got their deliveries that Friday or Saturday. I was then told by the first employee that I would get my delivery that day. No delivery that day. I call the store the next morning (Sunday), and am told that there are no deliveries that day. I then ask to speak to a manager and am put on hold for 10 minutes, then the phone disconnects. I then call back and am put on hold automatically for 10 minutes, then the call goes to voicemail and disconnects. So we go to the store, wait in line. While in line I see an employee overcharge another customer and then say she cannot fix it so he has to wait for a manager. I get to the front of the line and ask for a refund of my undelivered mulch. I am told that the employee cannot do that. I ask who can. She says the manager. I ask for her to get the manager. She SAYS NO. I say can you call him. She SAYS NO. She says he is outside and she cannot get him or contact him to come in (despite the fact that she is the only employee in the store and there are 15 people in line). I then ASK FOR A PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MANAGER SO I CAN GO OUTSIDE AND FIND HIM MYSELF. I find him, get him to come in. He tells me he is sorry about my experience, but the delivery system for Ohio Mulch is THE MOST UNORGANIZED SYSTEM HE HAS EVER SEEN. He says that he is TIRED OF LYING TO CUSTOMERS, and that he cannot tell me IF I WILL GET MY DELIVERY. In the end, I did get my refund. But it's been a while since I've had such a bad retail experience. read more
