For food we chose the breakfast flatbread. It had a sausage gravy base, bacon, cheese and two perfectly runny eggs. Delicious! Our server was so nice and attentive. With quite a small selection spread out across a large county, all the breweries have the opportunity to be unique. But for Dirty Oar Beer Company (which I will shorthand to simply the Dirty Oar), they need to be different from their neighbors, Bugnutty Brewing Company. So did Dirty Oar accomplish the aforementioned "challenge?" Well yes and no depending on what it is you are looking for. Located on the north side of Historic Cocoa Village - which is the south side of King St./US-520, Dirty Oar is a large aquamarine blue building heralding a beautiful mural of birds and an octopus. There is a back entrance where their biergarten is located and a front entrance which i will consider their storefront. Parking is a bit tight, but may be accommodating enough as Dirty Oar is not as rambunctious as their neighbors, Bugnutty, are. My friends, Charles the Grey a.k.a. Roadie X and Patrick joined me today as we enjoyed brews and food in their taproom. The area is kind of small compared to other taprooms, but maybe it is because the biergarten is much bigger for overflow accomodation. There are games for people to play, in which my friends enjoyed a game that was kind of like either/or, and it was fun. Not very intelligent, but whatever. This is where things can be a hit or miss. Maybe it is me, but the flight of "milkshake" beers did not impress me at all. If I am going to drink anything "milkshake flavored", I expect to taste said milkshake flavors. They tasted okay for beers, and maybe that is being more lenient as it was not what I was hoping for. Not bad, but definitely not a "milkshake." Food was delicious, but it comes from a food truck parked next to the biergarten. The grilled cheese was good and packed flavor into something simple, but the Frito pie: exquisite. To be fair, anyone that messes up a Frito pie doesn't deserve to cook anything. Overall, Dirty Oar was a-okay for an initial visit. Will I be back here? Of course, especially if I want a more personal time with friends, family, or a date. But will I go out of my way to go here compared to other breweries, probably not. Still, an a-okay establishment that I suggest visiting at least once. On a sidenote, Dirty Oar is one of the breweries that makes up the Launches & Lagers II Tour in Brevard. It is also a location in the Untappd App.

We added BeachFly's slow-cooked pork for $4 more. (2) Chicken Quesadilla ($8), which had island chicken and pepper jack cheese between two soft tortillas, served with salsa. (3) Key Lime Pie ($6). A slice of classic Florida dessert: sweet, yet slightly tart house-made pie on a graham cracker crust topped with whipped cream. My husband was thrilled to find a good dark beer, Coffee Brown Ale, a rich brown ale brewed with Villon coffee. He also bought a 4-pack of beer cans to go. Mix & match. Thursday nights are Trivia Nights at the Beachfly Brewery. This attracted quite a few local families. Parking is free and plentiful. It is also the only brewery located in Rockledge, in the part of the city which is close to a "Downtown" or "Historic Downtown" (Barton Blvd.). Being a rare "only option" within its city limits, Beachfly stands out not from its uniquely artistically painted building, but the fact it is the only stand-alone business that is synonymous with Rockledge outside of any official government buildings. Thankfully, Beachfly does a great job at brewing and camraderie that comes with it, too. Beachfly is located on the southside of Barton Blvd., probably closer to the end at US-1. You'll know you're at the right buildig as it is a huge aquamarine building with a lot of beach vibes artwork on it. Fits the criteria of its name, right? From what I saw, parking is ample enough but the overflow is all gravel. Take that into account if you don't want your vehicle sitting on stones. Inside, the beach vibes continue as all the decor accompanies such with wood that looks like they came off of pirate ships and walls aligned with portholes ad seaside memorabilia. Upon entering, there seems to be what I think is a private room for parties on the right and a small room serving as the store on the left. The southwest corner serves as a bar while the rest of the taproom serves customers at a hodgepodge array of tables. Now to the good stuff: the brews. I had a lot of their fruited beers, one that was spiced, too. Can't remember the names but they were a-okay. Probably not my first choice, but I could drink it. Their root beer was delicious, though. Their food: delicious but I didn't try it all. I defiitely need to give their grilled cheese and Cuban a go so I can compare and contrast with other restaurants. Finally, a lot of stuff to do with friends and family or by yourself. There is trivia, live performances, and even games for everyone to enjoy. Overall, Beachfly is very good, but they come off as equals to the two breweries in Historic Cocoa Village that isn't far from them, either. Would I go here again? Yes. Will I go out of my way to go here? Probably not. But if I am in the neighborhood, I definitely will make a stop by.
