This happened every 7-10 miles. We called one shop and they said we'd have to wait two weeks. They recommended that we check with Hills We limped into Hills. Doug helped us out. He found the cut in our coolant line quickly, replaced the hose and added a chafe guard where the hose had gotten cut by an engine component. And he thoroughly evaluated the cooling system before he let us go. I highly recommend this shop. Really nice folks and very reasonable repair costs, especially considering what we would have paid to a Mercedes shop.

We called Fred and he suggested we drop in and charge up our battery before continuing on to Kennewick for a scheduled RV service appointment. Fred personally installed a new glass battery and we rigged up a connection from our generator to a trickle charger connected the new battery. We got to our appointment in good time to install a new alternator and the guys in Kennewick out the door by 5:00! Without Fred's help I might still be waiting an alternator until Monday! They rent Uhauls but aren't open on the weekend to pickup trailers. Their site says they are open,…read morethe regional director of uhaul says they are open but the sign on the door says they're closed on Saturday and Sunday. I'm not sure if the gods of rental trucks and trailers have different days designated as the weekend and if they do I sure wish they'd share this with the rest of western civilization. Uhaul has this deal that if the trailer you rented isn't ready as promised then they'll give you 50 dollars. Well, I contacted Steve Womack and he credited my credit card 50 dollars. Not really the same as 50 bucks in my wallet but at least he got halfway there. My rather long drawn out point is, don't call uhaul on a Saturday morning to pickup the same day to move your father-in-law who just fell and expect this place to be open. You'll only end up cursing out some poor guy trying to make a living at the uhaul call center (probably in Omaha) demanding a refund. Glad his favorite chair fit in my rig.

They told me they were booked for the next 1-2 weeks but would at least be able to scan the code to give us an idea of what the issue was. We first said "no thank" as we sat in the car outside their shop for about 20 minutes calling several other places even some outside the town who were also booked. Mind you we were traveling from Washington to California overnight. We didn't want to wait even a day or two. Eventually, we had them scan the code and they saw the issue (spark plug #6 was burned off completely, too close to metal) and were able to replace it. They went from "sorry we're booked" to being able to help us out after all.

When our old Chevy was having battery issues and not holding a charge, they didn't just assume I was an ignorant woman, they just got to work. The battery was only 8 months old and a very heavy duty battery from Les Schwab, but it just wouldn't hold a charge and it was summer, not a cold winter. He charged it up a couple times and watched it drain (we just let him keep it for awhile) he ran diagnostics on it, checked out everything and still couldn't figure out why it wouldn't hold a charge. It is a 2004 Chevy with over 125K miles, but that thing is incredibly dependable (except in this one instance) and doesn't even leak oil. Anyway Les Schwab tested it and said there was nothing wrong with it, but it still wouldn't hold a charge and I couldn't go anywhere without leaving the engine running in case it wouldn't start again. Not too practical! Finally Paul asked if I would consider replacing the battery with another one and I said "whatever you think may work" and that fixed that. Unfortunately Les Schwab wouldn't replace the practically new battery because they said it tested out fine, which it did at Pauls station as well but it obviously had an issue. Since then I learned how many other things they can do at that station and I'm a huge fan. The station is so compact and clean I didn't think they really worked on cars, but I'm glad I found out that they do. And they have lifts and bays as well as good, practical equipment to work on vehicles, farm equip and just about anything with a problem. You never have to worry about getting ripped off. Make an appt. for an oil change, best deal in town (unless you know something I don't) if you don't change your own oil. We also have a 2015 Ford Mustang GT and a Toyota 4-runner, so they are able to work on any cars. If it is above or beyond what they can do, they will step forward and let you know that as well. For tourists who need fuel for their boats, it is a great location to fuel up as well as picking up some extra for lawnmowers, etc. Handy, neat, practical and not an overwhelming institution. It fits into Joseph without overpowering the community.
