I wrote a meager review about this place back in May of 2022, and my opinion of it has drastically changed. After Covid, they opened back up the dining room and it looks great. Simply just opening some blinds does wonders for it; it looks way better than it did two years ago, but they had a valid reason to shut it down- to protect the customers and employees inside. The dining room also has television, now. Normally, restaurants will have at least one cashier, but this one usually has two on the job, which makes business run by smoother. They are always friendly, which really makes you feel at home. Wait times are average considering that most of what is on the menu has to be cooked. The quality of the food is excellent, and is always hot. The pricing is appropriate when you take the value of the food and its ingredients into consideration. In conclusion, this is a great place to dine at, and I am proud to admit that I have eaten here a lot now in the past year. read more

Did a work lunch here. I ordered the teriyaki steak with sweet carrots and broccoli. Got some shrimp sauce on the side. It hit the spot and was a good amount of food for $9. A few suggestions I'd make. While a good meal, the broccoli was a little stiff. Could use about 30 more seconds of steaming. Also the staff and drive through were very convenient. One thing the restaurant doesn't have control over is the entrance is right next to a busy intersection and a Wal Mart. It can be pretty challenging leaving the parking lot, and virtually impossible if you want to turn left out of it in the evening. To be honest the food is usually excellent, it's just never in the bag with the rest of your order. To have it happen often enough that you have a policy keeping you from having to fulfill the whole order is pretty bad, especially when it's really inconsistent. I guess keep the $30 forced donation unless my credit card company can complete the charge back. Either way, not worth the hassle and tokyo diner is just as good. Edit: after contacting the restaurant for 3+ Weeks leaving messages for Julie, the owner, we were told by the assistant manager that julie doesn't see any point in calling customers who leave messages and that she'd rather they not come back than refund mistakes from orders. The quality of the food has gone down I use to love the Jumbo shrimp and noodles but it's not as good ! The shrimp is small and not Jumbo and the noodles is thin spaghetti the flavor is bland until they improve I'll take a pass read more

This is a great little hole in the wall in the mountains. We stopped here on out way back from a hiking trip. A friend recommended it and it was really good. We got a variety of sushi: the Pinku Roll, the Pagoda Roll, and the Oishii Roll. All of them were really good, but the Oishii Roll was my favorite. This was surprisingly good sushi for the middle of no where. We also got the teriyaki chicken which was good, but the chicken was a little dry. The vegetables with it were really good though. I would highly recommend checking this place out. It's much better than you would expect to find in the area. I would stop in again! read more

being from up on the mountain, this little place is close enough that we snag it occasionally when we come down for errands & shopping. the food is fast, flavorful, and for the price great! i recently ordered the pagoda roll & the chicken teriyaki. the sheer amount of shrimp sauce they give you is wonderful. the sushi was very good & the eel sauce/spicy mayo overload was PERFECT for me. the staff were so hard working even though there weren't many of them. they were pumping out orders (tons of take out) and were still friendly in the process! we'll be here again for sure! read more

Well, the food is what you would expect from a Asian leaning place (heavily Americanised) which has a drive through but then would you rather pick up food in a hurry from McD or from a place called Oishi ;) If you are in morganton, NC consider that both the Japanese cuisine places have drive through which makes me think this must be a local thing Regardless, the indoor seating is clean and typical and the food is predictable and fast food fusion and the helpings are generous read more

Very quick, very reasonably priced. I ordered the chicken and Scallops with rice. I substituted zucchini and onions for the carrots. This place is very good and I would suggest eating here over the higher price tagged Japanese restaurants. It's really just as good as those without the price tag. read more

This place is a hidden gem. It is the not the most fancy restaurant but you are really getting a lot of good food for a good price.

The food is well cooked and seasoned. I got teriyaki chicken and the chicken had a nice cook and crisp. The rice was seasoned with pepper and the shrimp sauce was delicious too. Large portions too. read more

We walked in and the entire floor was was wet at 8pm on a Friday night. The wet floors I could deal with, the constant yelling, nasty rap music on their phones, and singing made it difficult to stay. I don't like to Leave bad reviews- but they really need an adult or manager here. They sang so loudly, I don't know how a senior couple could Have handled this. My biggest shock, was the amount of f bombs the young teenager dropped! They literally made fun of a man standing outside. I can't imagine anyone thinking their behavior was appropriate. Food is semi over priced, bland with taste, and they only give you certain amount of shrimp sauce. I watched the cooks prepare my food and their sanitation is awful. I watched a cook dump raw chicken on a counter and left it there. They leave food and containers out from the refrigerator. If there was an option for 0 stars this would be it. I ordered a chicken wing dinner with rice, onions and vegetables. I told them I want my wings on a separate plate. When they come to my table the wings have rice stuck all over them. I was pissed so I asked for my meal to be made again and my money back. I sit here over 30 min again thinking my food is being cooked and the waitress told me the cook will not make it cause i got my money back. So the owner was called who didnt have time to speak to me but did talk to the waitress. The owner couldnt understand why i still wanted my food after it was messed up the first time and I'm still sitting here an hr and a half later waiting on my food. The owner didnt care whatsoever what my issue was. When you do your customers wrong you fix it. Obviously you didnt want to fix it. Horrible service. Will prob be the last time I come here. Everything I've tried here is wonderful! They are open all day, with a drive-thru, so if you wanna skip the dinner rush, grab it to go! The food is always prepared fast and hot! You can feed the whole family and not break the bank!
