I must admit I was skeptical about Asian food in the the Mountains. I was pleasantly impressed with the service, the food, the atmosphere. All 5 Stars. The Green curry was flavorful with the slightest hint of spicy heat. The vegetables were cooked in and the added chicken for protein was perfect. The red curry was deliciously rich and flavorful. Our least favorite on the night were the Thai donuts. A little too dense but still tasty. read more

I was riding solo with my toddler son and dropped in here to escape the rainy evening. It's a cozy spot right off of the blue ridge parkway. This was probably the best overall service I've had in a long time. As soon as we arrived the host was pleasant and got us seated quickly. It was late and we needed to speed dine so I gave the waitress our order on the first stop. She guided me toward the tuna tataki starter which was very fresh. From sitting down to full dinner arriving it wasn't more than 15 minutes. She stopped by several times throughout the dinner to make sure we had everything we needed. Everything was solid. No frills but solid size and quality for the price. I very much enjoyed my pho and would definitely order it again. Looking forward to coming back and trying more sushi. read more

This will definitely be a new go-to spot for me! Called ahead and we got seated within 10 minutes or so on a Saturday night which isn't easy this time of year up here! Staff was friendly and helpful and the inside was cute and had plenty of seating. We had the crab rangoons and a few rolls of sushi. The Blowing Rock Roll was by far one of the best crunchy (fried) rolls I've ever had!! Can't wait to go back! read more

We had a good experience. We came on a Wed night at 6:30 only a few days after Hurricane Helene and the curfew had just lifted to be able to eat this late. They had a local IPA (Blowing Rock) - which was a good start. We ordered an edamame ($6.50) appetizer and it was spot on. My bride ordered the Cashew Nut w/chicken ($19) and enjoyed it. We were so happy with this restaruant. It was interesting that you order and pay first at the desk, then the food is brought to your table. It worked out great. Everything was correct and was brought out speedily. We got sushi rolls and nigiri, massaman curry, cashew vegetables, miso soup, tom kha ga soup, and gyoza. Hot green tea, and iced matcha also. This place is a hidden gem. If you have ANY doubts about going- please don't! The food is amazing- the Beef Pho is what I got and it was delicious. It was pretty cheap for the amount of food they give you too! (Which is a pretty big portion size) The service is amazing, everyone was so friendly, attentive, we didn't need to call for the waiter once. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The duck was also great! Our food arrived quickly but it arrived at different times with several minutes in between dishes for various party members. The atmosphere left a bit to be desired as well. We were sat near the kitchen and the very loud clanging of silverware and dishes as tables were bused and staff collected dishes for washing was pretty overwhelming. Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday, so it wasn't busy at all. Walking to/from your vehicle and the restaurant was interesting to say the least!! Super slanted, but it is the natural terrain so I'm just mentioning it as it wouldn't be good for someone with mobility issues. The service was kind of dismal. Our waitress was very ho-hum. Tried the crab rangoon for an appetizer: four small, bland rangoon for $7. Bah humbug. For entrees we ordered the pho chicken and chicken teriyaki. My husband's pho came out 15 minutes before my entree!!!! In any of that time you'd think our waitress would've come to follow up or explain the delay, but she did not. Instead, a server for a neighboring table saw our empty soda glasses and offered us refills and we asked her to check on my entree. I don't know if the chicken teriyaki sat too long before it made it to our table, but the chicken was dry (I had my husband try it to be sure) and the veggies were limp and mushy. Why the three stars?? I guess because my husband added a bunch of sriracha and hoisin sauce to his pho until he liked it. Disappointed with my visit this time. I've not had a bad experience before, but this time made me rethink drive time to Taste Grill vs quality Moon gave. The edamame were very bland, the crab rangoon may has well have just been rangoon because there was like a teaspoon of the crab mixture in each. If I wanted crunchy chips I would have gone to a Mexican Restaurant. As for the sushi, I feel like I went on a three week drinking binge and just tasted alcohol again and want to throw up. The sushi quality was just not there tonight, on top of this being the fried shrimp tails on the Monster roll? More like nightmare roll. Will spend more time driving for higher quality next time, especially after paying $70 to feed 3 people, all of whom were disappointed. At least the restaurant is cute! read more

This place is so good! We went Christmas Day and it was packed. The parking is tough when it is so crowded, but we will be back.

We stopped here for an early dinner on a Saturday. It was such a good meal. The ambience made for a fun date night, and the servers were really wonderful. We ordered the tofu drunken noodles and the red curry chicken and the vegetable dumplings. Everything was delicious. Portion sizes were big enough for two people. Definitely recommend! read more

We had a good lunch here. We asked to be seated outdoors. The outdoor area is usually closed for the winter; but since it was quite warm, they obliged and set us up at a table outside. We had the steamed veggie gyoza (dumplings) to start with, which was excellent, and edamame, which was lightly salted. The panang curry with veggies was mild, as requested. Topped it all off with sticky rice and mango, which had a generous helping of mango and a generous drizzle of the sweet sauce. Moon Thai is definitely one of the best sushi places in Blowing rock/Boone. Prices are a little high but the sushi tasted great. Their fried rice meals are a little mushy but they are packed with flavor. I recommend sticking with the sushi menu because the fish tasted very fresh. Parking was very tight because it's on a hill and the service could have been better because they were a little slow in taking our order. After we got our food they were much faster so we may have caught them in a shift change. They do have raw octopus so strange food lovers should check that out! read more

Came back with hubby and another couple. As in my last review, service not good. Our entrees were excellent - red curry chicken, duck curry, pepper steak and fried fish. But one of our party got his pepper steak first. Then the next entree came out 10 minutes later. and the last two remaining seven minutes later. What can I say? Came in for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated quickly. Friendly, attentive staff. Ordered the spring rolls, Tom Yum soup, garlic beef, Panang chicken, and egg fried rice. Everything was fresh, served quickly. Nothing really stood out as amazing but everything was good. The only dish I wouldn't recommend is the egg fried rice which lacked flavor. We were hoping for Thai donuts but unfortunately they're fried in the same oil as peanut dishes so we had to pass due to a peanut allergy. All in all, good food and great service. read more

Unfortunately we had the worst experience possible!!! Unfortunately the food was subpar. Veggie tempura had way too much breading and was greasy. My Penang curry didn't taste anything like it. Full of carrots, dry chicken and broth was sour and border line spoiled flavor. The rice was uncooked and old. I took one bite and asked th waitress to switch it for something lease. At which point I was told that it's against their policy and was asked why I didn't like my food. No one took the food away, or offered a replacement. I ended up picking on my daughter's meal. The service and staff was rude. They forgot one of our orders and when everyone had their food and we asked them where it was....20 mins later the food showed up. It was truly an unacceptable dining experience. Lots of excuses and no apologies!!!! Stay away!!! read more
