    Key Lime cocktail

I came up to Pioneer the weekend after July 4 with a group of 7 old friends from years past. We had the best time thanks to the great crew at the O.K. Corral. Thank you, Jules, Kelley, Kaitlin, and Eric. I've been coming up to Pioneer now for nearly 45 years. In all my years of coming to the O.K. Corral, this is the best crew I've met. Just about the nicest bartenders and owner you could meet...down to earth, good people, no nonsense. We ended up dropping in three nights in a row. They have a well stocked bar, a nice outside deck, a great jukebox, a good pool table, and a good stock of liars dice. Our second night we had their prime rib dinner on Prime Rib Day. It was fantastic... great flavor, large cut, and it came with tasty sides. The O.K. Corral is a great spot to go with friends and to make new ones. And they make an awesome Key Lime cocktail and a mean Royal Pussy. We look forward to being back!

Not exactly your fine dining, but good grub and cold beer.

Only had a burger and onion rings, but they actually asked how I wanted the burger and it was cooked medium rare the way I wanted it. My wife got tea, and cook said to the waitress to heat the water fresh rather than get in from the tap on the coffee machine. The food was good, and I got the impression that they cared about quality. Not much but burgers and fish and chips available at lunch. Smoked chicken and ribs are in the evenings. Way up the mountains, nice setting.

I wish I had written a review about this place sooner, but couldn't remember the city this place was in and just typing in "ok corral" brought up quite a few different places. A couple friends and I were headed back home from a camping trip Labor Day weekend when we stopped by here to use the restroom. Looking at the menu the prices seemed pretty good and the food looked even better so we decided to eat here. If memory serves correctly I had order a burger and fried zucchini and mushrooms along with regular and sweet potato fries, my only regret is that I shared this deliciousness with my friends and didn't have it all to myself! The zucchini and mushrooms were beer battered and oh so good. The fries were fries, pretty hard to get them wrong. But that burger! Oh that burger was amazing I think there must have been some unicorn in that burger because that thing was magical. Easily one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had. The steak the had also looked very appetizing, I can't decide whether or not I will get that next time, because I will be back! It's only a matter of time. Do take this review with a grain of salt as I did eat here after a camping trip and everything tastes pretty amazing after eating nothing but freeze dried goods and trail mix.

The Duke was open in the basement of the old hotel at the end of the block. We walked in and it had classic old steakhouse vibe. A dark wood bar area and a lighter dining area. We were the only one in this place. It was kinda awkward. We were seated in the bar. The hostess was the waitress and the bartender. There was someone in the back vacuuming with a shop vac on high for our entire visit. We ordered the fried pickles, the BLAT with steak fries and a Caesar salad. All of the food was really good. The service was not. When the pickles came we were not given napkins, utensils, or plates. The waitress disappeared into the back. We were able to find some napkins on the bar. The next time we saw her she put the food down and we asked for the napkins. She never came back by to ask about refill on soda or water. She asked if I wanted catsup and I said yes. She put an empty container down. If I found myself in Jackson again. This would not be the place.

The interior is dimly lit, calm, and still very inviting--something you really have to experience in person. The drinks and mocktails are so well crafted that it's almost shocking--you take a sip, then look back at the menu like, "Wait... that's all it cost?" and then back at the bartender like, "Hold on... you made this perfectly for me?" We sat at the bar top and, like everyone else, got caught up in our phones trying to post everything in real time. But Amanda, who was making our drinks, could spark a conversation out of thin air. She was a total pro at keeping us engaged and enjoying our time, all while making drinks and taking care of everyone else around us.

The atmosphere itself is on the smaller side, but it fits the cozy, hidden speakeasy vibe perfectly. That being said, the pricing is a bit tough to swallow. I ordered a drink for $22 that tasted good, but overall, the drinks here are just way too expensive for what you get. They also had live music playing during our visit; it was good lounge background music that added a nice vibe to the room, but it wasn't anything spectacular or something to get overly excited about. It's a cool spot to check out for the ambiance, but the high drink prices keep it at a flat three stars for me.

This was our fourth visit, and every single one has been a five-star experience. Our server, Dusty, was outstanding. This was the second time we've had him, and he remembered us from our previous visit--including what we ordered. That level of attention to detail and genuine hospitality is rare. He was friendly, professional, attentive without hovering, and truly helped make our anniversary dinner memorable. Dusty is one of the best servers we've had anywhere. The food was exceptional from start to finish. The medium-rare filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was one of the best steaks we've had. The garlic mashed potatoes were absolutely phenomenal, the loaded baked potato was excellent, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly prepared. One of the most thoughtful touches came from the chef. Since we brought a bottle of our own wine, they served a bread basket with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and beautifully wrote a special anniversary message in the balsamic. It was a small detail that made the evening feel even more personal. To finish the night, we enjoyed dessert out on the terrace by the fire table overlooking the beautiful view. The tiramisu-style dessert was outstanding, and the "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate was another thoughtful touch that made the evening feel truly special. We also want to recognize Mary, the manager. She took the time to come by our table, introduce herself, and personally wish us a happy anniversary. It's obvious she's doing an outstanding job leading her team because every visit has been consistently excellent. We also appreciate The Perch's dress code. It helps create an upscale, classy atmosphere that makes dining there feel like a special occasion every time. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in Amador County, The Perch delivers. Outstanding food, impeccable service, thoughtful attention to detail, and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. Congratulations to Mary, Dusty, the chef, and the entire team. We'll absolutely be back for visit number five.
