Chili cheese fries on the side were the best idea

My favorite cheeseburgers in Calaveras County! This spot is right down the street from our cabin and we are so lucky to have this gem nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lube Room is definitely giving off dive bar vibes but with some of the most delicious bites.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A must try is their cheeseburgers, homemade chips and chili cheese fries! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is also a pool table inside and plenty of TVs to watch all the games.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is quick, friendly and menu prices are affordable!

Lots of personality in decor and the staff = all good! Loved my first visit here. My family and I were up for the weekend and they were right to make sure we came here for lunch after a walk at Big Trees State Park nearby. Just off CA-4 in Dorrington, it was a great experience in this locally owned bar and grill. The service was wonderful and the food we all got was great. I had the mushroom Swiss burger which comes with homemade chips and all the topics. Cornbread was on the small side for the cost but it was freshly made. Deviled eggs were to my likely, but the family was not appreciating the horseradish(?) ingredient. There is a video game, jukebox, and pool table available. The back patio and indoor seating is open with a nice outdoor area in the back open in warmer weather.

Great place to drop in and have a beer or cocktail and some food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its gotten a lot more family friendly over the years[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice deck and patio lawn area with cornhole.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dog friendly in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Usually we only come for a beer since its just typical bar food. I wish they expanded their beer menu to have more local CA craft beers what they have is run of the mill beers, kind of boring but maybe its hard to get anything but mainstay beers way up here. Onion rings are the bomb. The burgers are fine just pretty average and not that big. Giant Burger in Arnold burgers are way better and bigger. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall though its a great place to come and really the only place in miles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Man this place has changed for the better, I guess I'll bring the wife next time ;)... [[HIGHLIGHT]]They still have peanuts, but no longer with shells all over the floor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's been maybe 10 years she the last time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a great outdoor patio, stage of music, grass, horse shoes and great view of the meadow[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathrooms are clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartenders are not ornery, but nice and much easier on the eyes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have changed into a respectable establishment, only the name remains of color, ha![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the hotdog and some peanut. They don't seems to go through peanuts (2 Stars) like they did before, mine were stale, not with the $3 for a large container. The hotdog (3.5 Stars) was decent size and good restaurant quality. The bun was the right size to hold it plus some condiments. They have relish, but you have to ask. They really should tell customers on the menu what the have upon request. The dog was cooked ok, if they want 4 stars or higher they really need to have some grill marks. Also offer with cheese or bacon (for an extra charge of coarse) to kick up to 5 Stars. Until next time... With the wife

Fantastic night at Lube Room. The food is killer and we ordered nachos, burgers, BLT, and wings. Had a couple beers and margaritas along with a few games of pool. Great place for the whole family. Popular place so you might have to wait a little while for a table but the food, service, and atmosphere is great.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fantastic place, awesome decor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the charcoal grilled burgers are absolutely the best! Homemade French fries adds a great touch to the menu.

5 Stars ! Every time! Love this place

Lube Room - what it lacks in an appetizing name, it makes up for in decent food and a great road house aesthetic. We visited on a Sunday afternoon. The kitchen opens at 5, but patrons started lining up a few minutes before. The line at the bar for ordering food seemed to consistently stay about 6-8 people deep for the next hour or so. The person taking food orders was had that classic road house straight-and-to-the-point personality. Not rude, just not Chick Fil A perky. (Can I get grilled onions? No, they don't do that. Can I get no onions on the other plate? No, they come how they come. Can I get ketchup on the sliders? There's ketchup over by the napkins.) The total for two adults and a kid came out to $70+, including the tip. Those are definitely mountain resort prices, so I'd think of this as more of a $$$ spot than a $$ spot. I also wasn't sure about the tipping - this is definitely one of those "it's just gonna ask you a few questions" situations since you bring your order to them, you pick up your own food (even if it's tricky to balance it all), and you bus your own table (there's a firm Your Mama Don't Work Here component to the road house vibe, of course). One welcome deviation from the road house thing was the notably clean restrooms. Burgers were all cooked well-done, which isn't my favorite, but the flavor wasn't bad and the portions were generous. Food expectation level should be Neighborhood Barbecue with compliments to the grillmaster, which just might be your best bet in the area.

One of the best burgers I've had! And the toasted bun was immaculate. The staff is sweet, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the outdoor seating is gorgeous,[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the food is super yummy.

We stopped at the Lube Room Saloon on a Monday evening. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only open seating was inside the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a full house inside but we were able to get a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bar tender was very sweet. The food was ready very quickly and was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute place worth a stop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

From the moment we walked in, we noticed prolonged stares that immediately made us feel unwelcome even though we there to meet other locals we met at a nearby restaurant. We were taking a few photos of ourselves and the bar to document our trip (nothing disruptive, and no signage indicating photos weren't allowed). Shortly after, a bartender accused us of taking inappropriate photos of her, which was completely untrue. She asked us to delete the photos, and I obliged. Before we were even given a chance to explain, we were aggressively intimidated by staff and bar goers and told to leave immediately. The entire interaction felt abrupt, confusing, and embarrassing. We were respectful customers who didn't even get the opportunity to clarify what we were doing. Regardless of intent, the situation was handled poorly and left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. We were excited to experience a local mountain bar, but unfortunately this was not a positive or inclusive experience.

Came for the burger :)…read more My husband and I live in the East Bay and wanted to go on a lil drive. We decided on Murphy's for the Watering Hole burger which did not disappoint. We ordered 2 Double Cheese Burgers, the Broccoli Bacon Ranch Salad and an order of French Fries that included a side of ranch. All of what we ordered was delicious. The burgers come with double patties and are grilled along with the onions, the bun lightly toasted, soft and sweet and included a smear of 1,000 dressing. The burgers have 2 different types of cheese, fresh crispy shredded lettuce, pickles and sliced ripe tomato. It is the perfect combination and proportions of all ingredients. The Broccoli Bacon Ranch salad was not like anything I have had before and was a nice surprise to our taste buds. The salad included fresh bell peppers both yellow and red. It also had pickled onions, sunflower seeds, bacon and blue cheese that was all tossed together with ranch dressing which made it very convenient and easy to eat. Last but not least, the French Fries. They included a nice seasoning on the outside for a crispy texture and a creamy inside which I love. I liked the fact that they serve the fries with homemsde ranch and I didnt even have to ask for it...it's the little things for me. We sat inside to dine, I enjoyed seeing what others were eating, of course lots of burgers but also ribs, pasta, chicken sandwiches, salads and even cheese cake for dessert. I like that the menu offered a variety of options and brought great value for the quality and care that you can taste in every bite! I did not notice any issues with service as I saw other reviews reported. I would say that the inside, although cozy was a bit loud while others socialize. I think it was simply the high ceilings that carry the noise. The outside seating area is another option and is very nice as it's next to a stream which we would have chosen if it hadn't been 57° outside that day.
