Went yesterday with a friend to hear Goldpine, singer-songwriters who were terrific with guitars and singing. Beers and pizza were just perfect as we listened to these talented musicians. Drytown Social Club has never let me down! Great people running it who are so gracious and hard working with a crowd like they had for this duo. Stopped in here on a Friday night and the performer was a guy name Willie Watson. As he fumbled through his performance struggling to find his next instrument, we tried ordering a cheese platter and wine at the bar. While ordering, we were yelled at by him on stage to be quiet, and told to leave as he is trying to create "magic". The staff wrote us a note apologizing, as you are not allowed to talk during ole Willie's performance, which is a joke at a bar. Anyways if the staff would have stood up for us and calmed this lunatic down, it would have been a lot nicer experience. read more

Went to go see local band Stealing the Covers, musicians where good, great vibe and energy when they were warming up, but then the lead singer showed up late and brought the band energy down. Would not recommend or hire band with current lead singer. Nothing like watching a a singer hide behind a music stand sitting down, no energy at all and vocal range did not match the play list of songs. Note to lead singer, show up on time in advance to gig and you can mic check, highly recommend it. Drytown Club, looks great, much improved from what it used to be, great job to Fiest Wines on improvements, would definitely recommend people checking out the changes at Drytown Club, but please learn how to use fly traps, disgusting, and children do not belong at a bar/adult club. read more

Can another whole year have gone by since I last came here? Amazingly, so. I came to hear music on a late fall evening after the recent rains. I had worked the weekend and decided to drive up from the Flatland to hear some good, danceable music at my favorite country dive bar. I was not disappointed. In addition to the regular musicians, there were some others and a few vocalists that comprise The Blow Daddy "horn-driven dance band.". The music was very good and eminently danceable! Sadly, no hot food is available, anymore. Just an assortment of packaged snacks like chips and Japanese cracker peanuts was available at the bar. Still, good wine and Deschutes Black Butte Porter can be bought for assuaging thirst, so I was content with peanuts and porter! The music was sublime. Other changes seemed to be the presence of a couple of new tables and the dancer pole in the corner was absent. This is the place to be if you want to dance, up here in the Foothills on a weekend. read more

I try hard not to be ugly, but I feel like this owner is a thief. Music night okay wasn't my jam but not the owner's faults here. It was so packed there were no seats inside or out? And this cost me $50 for what? I stood outside for one song I asked the owner she seemed on something because no way could a business owner be that rude. She said nope not giving you money back! Went there yesterday for the first time and was amazed by the quality of the Dog House blues band, fronted by the bar owner Allen, who plays lead and rhythm and a real old fender laptop slide guitar while singing with a Mose Allison kinda voice. Drinks are affordable, and there are people that come to this foothill dive bar for over 40 years in a row. I happened to walk in to another Dutch man, and a happy dancing crowd, and eventually though it wasn't a jam, I was playing bass with Allen and his band. Definitely worth your while. This is a great, easy going joint right on Hwy 49 just south of Plymouth. There is a fire pit out back, a porch, and friendly locals. The DogHouse blues band (led by the owner, Allen) plays 2 sets starting at 4:20 every Sunday, and it is consistently a rockin' good time. Also consistent (unfortunately) is the woman tending bar. If you need service, look for the only miserable & unfriendly face there. This is your bartender. She is a champion at avoiding eye contact, and if she acknowledges you at all, it will be to growl out how much you owe her. Overall, a great bar for locals and wanderers alike. read more

Went here last night for a little bluegrass and to catch the Niner game. The Niners lost, but that had nothing to do with the Drytown Club. It's a cute little spot, with weathered hardwood floors and a genuine gold country feel. The bartender was pleasant, and we were satisfied with their selection on tap (nothing too spectacular, but they had a local beer!). We ordered up some of the food, and I would say the next time around, I'd pass on the nachos and go for a burger or the pot pie instead. The live bluegrass was a lot of fun, and a bit of a surprise as I hear they mostly host a blues band that has become quite popular. It's always nice feel comfortable and welcomed as out of towners in a new place, and the Drytown Club was friendly, so I'll be back. :) read more

I moved to this area a few months ago and I don't normally go to bars. This one has a comfortable homey feel and doesn't smell like a bar. The service is fun and Sunday's music is a real treat!! Food isn't expected to be much in a small bar like this but Deni cooks the best street tacos I've ever had!! A mellow laid back bar with food, atmosphere, (dollar bills wallpaper the ceiling, signs and other stuff peppering the walls) and amazing blues band on sundays. You must make the Drytown Club a stop while wine tasting or on a road trip. read more

The Drytown Club is really a musician's venue. No matter what the crowd is like on the night you may choose to visit or what person you may involuntarily have an uncomfortable conversation with, you can always count on soul-powered blues to keep you coming back. My greatest memory here involves a drunken night, my brother and my best friend. It was a Saturday, and they were drinking at The Annex in Sutter Creek. I was designated as the sober one. In need of a change of scenery, I drove the three of us at lightning speed down dark country towards the Drytown Club. It was a Saturday, and we fully expected what this place has a reputation for: an eclectic mix of bikers, vagrants, tipsy older women and bewildered retirees who look as if they took a wrong turn and ended up as extras in a bad remake of "Roadhouse." Amazingly, we found none of these on this particular night, just the usual cozy, country cabin-style interior adorned with $1's on the ceiling, beer signs and Christmas lights. There's also a stripper pole in the corner- let's leave it at that. A girl with a pierced face served us beers and we looked around disappointed, that is until the band (who apparently had been on a break between sets) took the stage. Led by the thundering soul voice of a gigantic man named Big something, this eclectic blues group called the "Leather Souls" instantly proved ten times better than the one man karaoke disaster at our previous destination. The club's owner, Alan, was sitting in on guitar. We were bewildered as to why no one else had shown up to enjoy this wonderful free concert. The pierced girl provided us with a simple answer: "Depends on the night." Nevertheless, it proved to be the highlight of our night, and well worth the dangerous drive. read more

Showed up on a Saturday while riding my motorcycle in the area (I live nearby). Nobody in the bar except me, 1 other customer, and 1 waitress. Took them about 10 minutes to get me a drink.....they seemed irritated that I bothered to come in and give them $6 for a $1 beer....maybe it's because I'm a really nice guy and have a lot of money to spend and they don't like customers? I hope they choke. Also; another group showed up after me & got their drinks before me, it was like I wasn't even there, and long story-short they were NOT nice people to talk to so I left immediately. Really love this place. Great place to meet up with friends and make new ones. They have a new outside stage and bar that looks great! Grab a beer sit down, meet new friends, listen to great live music and time will fly. Although the staple of the bar, Reverb, the wonderful dog that greeted you with a big smile is no longer there. The funnest, most inviting hangout I have ever been to. Live music - always excellent and sure to get you movin'. Great food that NEVER disappoints - delicious burgers, hot wings and piled high nachos, etc. I travel to Amador regularly from couple hours away just because of Drytown Club. The owner and team here are always a blast and so incredibly sweet. Wear your dancin' shoes because this atmosphere is sure to have you on the dance floor all night. Allen, part owner and also is the winemaker at the other alcohol serving establishment in Drytown (Drytown Cellars), told us to swing by for some live blues later that night. I was staying at the Old Well Motel & Grill so a careful shuffle across the street was just right after a long hot day of wine tasting. It's a bar set up to have a band in it, very handy that the owner is also the drummer in the band! Music was fun, the crowd was mostly locals, there is a dance pole for those daring, and of course some Drytown Cellars wines and a full bar.
