He was able to give me a rough estimate over the phone (I texted him a couple photos and measurements), and he gave a range based on the size of the stumps. He said he would give an exact price when he came in person. He was able to come the very next week. He gave a fair and reasonable price and even took out an extra bush stump he saw. Ronnie went above and beyond! I have a little one and am very covid cautious, so he helped make the payment transaction easy and contact-free. He left the wood chips/mulch from grinding up the stumps, so I used that to fill up the holes.

We were not satisfied and decided to look elsewhere midway in our project. We first gave Mateo a smaller job. They did such an excellent job that we assigned them the full project at that point. We could not be happier. It was like night and day compared to the previous company we had hired. Mateo showed up every day and worked hard to stay on schedule which they did. That is more than I can say about the previous company. Mateo also gave us a fair price and did not price gouge us. The quality of their work is outstanding. We were amazed at how fast they got it done and how dedicated they were to getting it right. Because of how well they did when we first moved here, we made the decision to only use Mateo construction for our outdoor space. Incidentally, we had to rebuild our staircase off our deck during this project, and Mateo was even able to do that. Next, I want to discuss dedication. We were in the middle of the this huge landscaping project (which covered about an acre of our property) and it was not finished around the time that Hurricane Helene hit. We had all the new trees in our driveway (to be planted) and the mulch was supposed to be laid. The Wednesday afternoon before Helene hit us on Friday morning, Mateo Construction showed up with enough workers to secure our trees and pour mounds of mulch and lay boulders in that acreage. Otherwise, it was raw dirt that would have eroded into the homes beneath us. Our house sits at 2600 feet elevation. They even did this in the rain just to make sure that we were OK. After Helene passed, they came by to check on us. They uprighted some trees that fell over. We also use them in the winter for our 300+ foot driveway when it ices. We are loyal customers! We are beginning a large addition to our existing home. And, of course, we have chosen Mateo Construction to do the hardscaping and landscaping for this project.
