Seemed a little entitled when I bought 5 tomatoes and 2 cucumbers on May 10 - 1 of the cucs was a dud (very poor, limited selection) Took pictures and asked them to replace - no was the response and pretty rude about it I would prefer to buy local, but when stick up your ass companies don't stand behind there products- it makes going to a big box, because they will UNC-CH did develop an ass stick removal tool (different application) if helpful- you lost me over something easy - have a nice life read more

We often take to social media to complain about businesses... I do appreciate that because we need to hold owners accountable. But we should equally shout praise when due and share with others when businesses do well and can be recommended... That said, I can't say enough good things about Raymond's. They transformed our property: ripping out old asphalt, cement, dead plants, invasive species, replanted old bushes, introduced new plants and trees and put in a beautiful gravel driveway and natural pavers. Their prices are competitive, the landscape team was professional, knowledgeable and took great pride in their work. I believe as a team they went above and beyond and it was a pleasure; that is RARE. Highly recommend you give them a call if you need these types of professional services. PS - The garden center is also just a fun place to visit; lots of plants they grow themselves and the staff is soooo friendly and helpful. Plus they have a cool resident cat! read more

I bought 3 Encore azaleas on October 1, 2020, and planted and watered them per their instructions. Used their recommended planting soil mix. The plants in May, 2021, are dead with no growth. I called and left a message, told I would get a call back. Still waiting. read more

Can't say enough about the fabulous services that we received from Raymond's. We recently purchased a home in Lake Lure that is situated on a heavily sloped lot. Access to the back and one side of the house was treacherous and there were some considerable erosion issues as well. I solicited design ideas and estimates from several companies. Justin came out and provided us with a design plan that was in line with others that we had received and at less than half the cost of the highest estimate. We chose to contract with Raymond's and haven't looked back even once. Being a small family owned company, we had to wait a bit for the work to start but we are so glad that we did. The crew of Justin, JR, James, and 4 others worked tirelessly to complete the job. They were not able to access the site with a bobcat and so all the digging for 3 retaining walls, a stairway, and several drains/catch basins was done by hand. We expected 4x4 timbers and instead got 6x6s. We expected pea gravel and instead got river rock. There was some miscommunication on the placement of the stairway which was nearly completed when we arrived at the house. Without blinking an eye, the crew removed and replaced the whole thing the following day. Every aspect of this service was stellar. We had to make long-distance arrangements for the work and communications with the office staff, Christine and Abby, was easy and without delay. The couple of times that I did stop in at the Garden Center, the staff there was attentive and eager to recommend the proper plants and materials for the spaces that we need to fill. We are so happy with the work that we have Justin working up an estimate for another job to be done this summer. read more

We wanted to sell our house and put it on the market by the end of May so we had some work done to the front of our house and needed landscaping beautiful hedges and a lawn put in.. So Raymond's landscaping had such good reviews. from people we knew. And it was in our town. So we scheduled a meeting the guy came out and gave us some plans but never put it on paper. So we could approve it. But A quote Would be given maybe by the end of the day. First problem: It took over a week and we had to call for it. Second problem: They were supposed to come out on March 25, but the day of, they called and said they couldn't make it. Finally on April 1 they came out, third problem: they started putting in the plants the way "they wanted them". My wife had to tell them how we wanted to put them in. Fourth problem: then there was a problem with the plants she wanted different colors, but they only brought two...white Snow ball that grows really large...and red azaleas.. She had stated she wanted orange and pink and red azaleas before they were put in. plus sky pencil Holly bushes. Fifth problem: She also questioned fabric to be put down??? For retardant of weeds....which they said they did not use. That upset my wife right off the bat. The price was 3800 they got there at 8:30 and we're done by four. Sixth problem: We used rocks and Pineneedles, which looked good in the beginning. But without the fabric the weeds started coming up really fast. Seventh problem: They also put a mix of annual rye & fescue grass. It was horrible it looked like We had hay growing in our front yard we call them a numerous times to come out and look at our lawn and some of our pompous grass that they put in had died and they had to replace it which they did... We called all the time for them to come and fix what they had done after 3 times coming to our house to fix the problem. They started to recognize our phone number and refused to pick up the phone... we played games with them and blocked our number then they picked up. We went back to Raymons and asked for more grass seed because what they had planted died they gave unmarked the Ziplock bags. We decided that we had to fix it ourselves. Over the July 4 weekend we put in pellet size lime and Weed and feed plus we bought a new type of grass seed... over the weekend everything that they had put in was dead.. a week later we put on the new grass seed by 20th of July beautiful new grass had come in. We are very very disappointed with Raymond's landscaping they hung up on our phone calls.. and refused to fix their mistake. this is by far A company that has the mindset that you need them, more than they need you. My husband and I are new to NC and coming from SW Florida we have very little experience with gardening. We decided we wanted Creeping Phlox, which is very hard to find this time of year. Raymond's was recommended in a FB post so I sent them a message to see if they had any available. Not only did they have some, they held it for me until I could make it there. Upon picking them up I had many questions and the clerk who helped me patiently answered every one of them and even recommended some plant food. Went here for the first time a couple days ago. My parents needed to pick up some flowers, and they also needed someone to come out to the house to help design the garden. The employees were very helpful and attentive, and we left with a date they would be coming out. The property is huge with lots of plants plus many little things to buy inside to help your garden grow :) My favorite part was Winter the kitty hangin out on the chair and the little fat basset greeting us. read more

Good design and very friendly people, but for the life of me I cant figure how they could give me the steps into our kitchen where each riser is a different height. Ive never seen it before. The job was done in 2015 and i called and emailed several times and even went by in person and they said they would fix it. Crickets. I told them all it needs is another layer of stone on the top step. So far, two people have ended up face first on the kitchen floor. read more

Just had new landscaping done at my home. I chose Raymond's after having a couple of quotes from landscapers in the area. Jeremy initially came to my home and laid out a plan that I like. He was very knowledgeable in all plant and trees and guided me on what would look and work good in different areas. He was very polite and professional. A few days later I received a quote via email and put some money down to get the ball rolling. It took just over a month for them to get all the plants and trees that were needed for the Job. Well the day for tearing out the old and planting the new was here and the crew were here first thing in the morning Jeremy was the head man in charge of the job but the real work and expertise was done by a great team of men. Oscar, Felix, Fuji, and Christian were the crew. These guys got right to work and down to business. I not once seen any of them walking around with a cell phone to their ear or texting. A rarity in this day and age Each man knew what to do and worked well together as a team. They finished the job in just two days and would have taken me all summer. It's been three weeks now and everything is thriving. I can hardly wait until next spring to see everything in bloom. I have a couple more minor areas I will be doing some more work in and I will definitely be calling Raymond's. I'm a happy camper. read more

Wow, how does this place not have a million reviews? My husband and I bought a house last year with a big, needy yard. I went to just about ever garden center in the area and this one is, by far, the best. Tons of healthy plants at a great price. I'd previously bought most of my plants at Home Depot. Boy, what an awful idea. At Raymond's, their plants are taken care of properly, so you can buy a plant that will be in good shape when it goes into the ground. Prices were comparable, if not better than a Lowes/Home Depot. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They all seem to be gardeners themselves, so they have actual knowledge of the climate and the weird needs that come with living in the mountains. Instead of just saying "shade plants? Uh, there are hostas over there." They can actually tell you things about everything they sell to make sure you get what you need. Worth the trip. For sure. read more

We had a long, deep, 2 feet above ground level retaining wall created along a drainage ditch. It was created with nice looking stones. It looks great and we have received many compliments. We are fairly sure it has solved our problem of flooding during heavy rains. There were, however, several problems problems we noticed after the job was complete. Several pickets were broken on a fence that was replaced on the wall. Also, our expensive paver driveway has splotches of concrete that will not come up. I suggest that when a job is done the homeowner inspect everything before the men leave. read more

Raymond's Landscaping did a terrific job installing stone stairs in the rear of my house. The stone work naturally blends into the scenery and they don't stand out. It was a pleasure to work with customer service and the team of workers who did the installation. Communication via email and phone calls was excellent.
