We've been there at least 10 times with only one item that was mildly disappointing. the pot pies, sandwiches, burgers. All great. Even the steak and fish. Their country fried chicken and mashed potatoes is the ultimate comfort food. I don't often order alcohol, but I love their light, crisp house ale and get it every time.Compared to most places now-a-days, the prices are good. Then when we asked for a booth because we were expecting an elderly guest which we explained he said no despite two booths being empty and sat us under a TV screen in a half booth. Stopped in for a bite after getting off the plane on our way into HH. There were lots of great options on the menu and service was friendly. The prices were very reasonable too and they got our large party of 9 seated with no issues in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday. I got the strawberry salad with grouper. It came out with 2 HUGE pieces of grouper. Everything was delicious and fresh. And it was roughly only $16. Salsa didn't taste handmade, but the portion of the plate was OK! Kiddo demolished his burger without issue! Hubby got the fish and chips, and he said it was fine. I've never been much of a fan, but every now and then you just want something quick and convenient to fill the void. Unfortunately, beyond the food being average at best, the service has consistently been an issue--ranging from young untrained staff to employees who seem more interested in socializing with each other than helping customers. On a recent visit, the over the top rudeness from one of the staff members who interjected herself into a conversation we were having with the hostess was the final straw. This is a fantastic little restaurant and watering hole in the Sun City area. The service is friendly and the food is excellent. The inside seating is nice and they have an outdoor deck overlooking a pond with a bar and sometimes they have live music. My fish and chips plate (made with fresh grouper) is the best fish and chips I've had in years - hot, crispy, and flaky. And the three fillets were huge! My mom had the shrimp and chips and the shrimp were big, plump, and very crispy. I had a pint of the Okatie Ale, which is a nice light, crisp and refreshing golden ale. If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit and you'll see why all the locals love it. read more

Drink review only We walked over from the Hampton Inn to have a couple of drinks. We wanted to get a couple of beers from the draft beer selection. They had 12 or 14 draft beers listed on the menu. The selections were pretty basic, but the menu included an " IPA of the Month". I asked what the IPA of the Month was and our waitress rattled off two beers that were on the menu already. There was no IPA of the Month. I wasn't interested in the beers, so I ordered a Bulleit Old Fashion. My wife ordered the Okatie Ale ( I believe this beer is brewed just for this bar). The Old Fashion It was obvious that the bartenders don't know how to make an Old Fashion . It was a muddled mess. The drink was hazy instead of a clear bourbon color. Instead of using an orange peel as the garnish and adding a cherry at the end, the bartender muddled an orange slice and muddled the cherry. Who muddles a cherry? I don't know what else was added to this drink, but it was a muddled, hazy, bitter mess. (See pic) I added the correct Old Fashion recipe and pic at the end of my review for the bar staffs future reference Okatie Ale The Okatie Ale is a blonde ale. It's pretty much a flavorless under carbonated yellow water. It has an Untppd rating of 2.9/5. How is this your house beer with such a low rating. Stopped in here for dinner. Saw a lot of cars and live music outside so I figured this has to be a good hotspot. Went inside met the bartender who was extremely friendly. Had a nice conversation with other members at the bar. Ordered the Godfather sandwich, which is their equivalent to an Italian hoagie. A whole lotta bread and not a lot of meat or cheese. The biggest disappointment of the night was thinking that by going to an ale house that would be a large beer selection. There was nothing exciting on the taps just the usual Miller lite, Coors light, etc. So they do not brew their own beer there nor do they have a large selection on tap. The food was decent, but nothing superb. It is super clean and the staff are very friendly. I would give it a four out of five stars. Maybe the other food on the menu is more of what they are known for and the Italian sandwich that I got. I got there around 7 o'clock mid week and the place was pretty packed. We were in the need of a quick lunch and decided to stop in! We decided to sit outside and we were seated quickly! The waitress came over quickly and greeted us. I asked for a drink menu and she brought it right away. We decided to order sangrias and they were okay because it does come from a bottle and not homemade. For the entrees we ordered buffalo chicken salad and a chicken caesar wrap and they were both okay. The wrap was a little dry. It just needed more dressing. As for the salad, it had way more celery and carrots than I was anticipating. The service was great though! I live nearby and really want to like this place. Each time I come, several months apart, I'm reminded why I say I'll never come again (except maybe for drinks on the deck). Service is usually pretty good but not always. I don't get cocktails any more because in my experience they are not made well. There was a recent review that went into detail about their lousy Old Fashion. That was exactly my experience as well. I've had a couple salads that were good and I like the Low Country Rueben but it is very greasy. Not thrilled with most other selections. Most recently I had a cup of French onion soup. It looked good. But it was easily the most tasteless French onion soup I have ever had. The French fries were underdone and came back the same way when sent back. It's been this way for a long time. This restaurant is great eating for both the MAGA crowd and sheep followers. In town for a golf tournament this place was recommended by hotel staff for lunch and dinner. We were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and good service. My wife ordered the fish and chips which turned out to be excellent.
