We were in the…read morearea recently and decided to stop by...we discovered this gem from our past has only gotten better! High quality and innovative cocktails, reasonable prices, and a chic/classy ambiance make Ward Eight must-visit! I tried two cocktails when I was at Ward 8: Remember the Main and Vieux Carre. Both were decadent, delicious, and boozy. Triple threats! I loved them both, but the "Remember the Main" was different from drinks I've had before, so that was my favorite. My husband had a local beer. They have beer, wine, and NA options for folks who aren't into cocktails. They also have food which looks scrumptious, ranging from high-end appetizers to full meals. We did not come prepared to eat, so we'll have to come back again to try food in the future! The staff were welcoming and professional. The space was clean and Gatsby-style chic. There is plenty of seating and an outdoor space for when it is warmer. It is a fancier places, so prices are higher. But you pay for the higher quality ingredients and innovative recipes. If you enjoy cocktails and cozy cocktail bars, Ward Eight is definitely the spot for you!

I got the feeling that the staff were putting some effort into their craft. The place was crowded & there was even a live band performing. It was the best days ever from the minute I walked in. Arturo, a front desk worker, welcomed me warmly which was when I knew that it was gonna be very comfortable stay for me and my family. He's is the best. Everyone in the hotel were super nice and the manager (Michelle) was always smiling and checked in on us a lot to see if we were comfortable there. Then I met Summer. She was really super super nice like Arturo. Everyone at the reception was really super nice and even for the house keeper are really nice. Selvia and Claudia was really nice. Even if I didn't need cleaning they always just checked in on us. Victor and his coworkers who did maintained for the room were very kind and checked in a lot. I really felt sad to leave the hotel. I felt like I was in my house because of everyone's kindness. I just wanna say thank you to the company for having great staff in Evanston location they are the best. No one would regret staying at The Hyatt house. Best of luck and wishes for everyone who work at the Hyatt house. Thank you Ashjan,

I booked from 6-8 NOWHERE IN MY CONTRACT OR PARTY FAQS SAYS KIDS AREN'T ALLOWED IN BUILDING AT 8:00pm. I understand if it's their policy but i wasn't told on any emails when i booked for adults & KIDS. I had previously ask my bartender and server if my guests and I could cut the cake at 8:00 since food is served at 7:30 they said Yes ofc then manager comes around 8:05 to tell me "KIDS HAVE TO EXIT BUILDING AT 8:00" he gave me a "chance" to cut cake and stay until 8:30 and then we have to leave property, i felt so bad for my guests with kids who were rudely told they can't longer play games & had to leave, we cut cake rushed and they took them to go since they were not allowed to stay and eat on site. One girl there did apologize bc i showed her nowhere in contract nor email with planner party named sam told me about this policy and manager simply said "you have to talk to the person you planned your event with & that people usually play, eat and then leave" like really no one stays on site even if they have to move tables? I understand that but we were the only ones who had booked at that time & there were plenty of empty tables and chairs available. It was just very rude of them to say Kids have to exit the building as if these kids were not being supervised and playing with their own parents. SIMPLY RUDE & they could have communicated this policy with me before even booking it. They did charged me for everything 2 days before event though so they know what what they're doing. I emailed party planner and I've been ignored now. Only Bartender gets the star, very polite. TY.

I Politely Asked The Waitress Whether I Could Switch One Chair So I Could Sit Comfortably. Rather Than Offering A Simple Solution, She Abruptly Told Me That She Could Not Accommodate The Request. We Then Respectfully Asked The Guests At The Nearby Table Whether They Were Using The Chair, And They Kindly Confirmed That They Were Not. We Moved It To Our Table Without Disrupting Anyone, And The Waitress Did Not Raise Any Concern Afterward. That Made The Initial Refusal Especially Frustrating. This Was A Small, Reasonable Request That Would Have Had No Impact On Other Guests Or The Staff. Instead, I Was Made To Feel Like An Inconvenience. It Was Also A Sunday Evening When The Venue Was Not Crowded At All. After The Initial Interaction, Our Server Never Came Back To Check On Our Table Or Ask Whether We Wanted To Order Additional Drinks. The Bartender Eventually Had To Come Out From Behind The Bar To See If We Needed Anything. For A Group Of Five, That Level Of Attentiveness Was Disappointing. A Venue That Promotes Itself As Welcoming And Accommodating Should Be Prepared To Make Basic Seating Adjustments For Guests With Mobility, Injury, Or Back-Related Concerns And Should Provide Consistent Service Throughout The Visit. Based On Our Experience, We Will Not Be Returning.

This has been the week of unbelievable finds mostly due to total chance and a bit of luck and…read moremystery. I found myself in Rogers Park for two days for my daughter's freshman orientation at Loyola. Of course, my number one concern after the first day of seminars was to find somewhere awesome to eat that evening. After extensive searching throughout the day, I believed I had settled on somewhere to go... that is until the front desk attendant of my hotel handed me a sheet of recommended places to check out in the area. Normally, I will just explore and research on my own to figure out somewhere to go. Despite the many exciting choices nearby, of which I almost settled on Ethiopian or Cambodian, I stumbled on Le Piano; and my oh my, I couldn't be happier that I did. Looking at the listed provided by the hotel, Le Piano was in a small section titled "music, food, bar" and specifically labeled as jazz. Taking a minute to hit up their website, I found that night that Gerry Hundt, a blues artist I didn't know was going to be playing. My interest already now piqued, I rushed over to the menu, which is awash in wonderful sounding continental and French classics made local and fit for a jazz bar. The cocktail menu also matches, but is also incredibly extensive and has a very interesting Victorian flair. It was at this point I was sold, and booked a seat immediately to head out that evening. Arriving, I found this to be one of the coolest spaces I have ever been to for music. Styled perfectly with a dark Victorian-yet-jazzy flair, and intimate, my assigned seat was allowed to be changed to an amazingly worn leather loveseat, like something out of a noir film, with a single taper lighting my table. The bartender and my server made a point of giving me their names, which I believe were Chris and Steven, but I can't remember because my memory is Swiss cheese, but they were both amazing, talking with me and being completely engaged with me as a Chicago newbie. This doesn't even include the perfect sazerac and jasmine that Chris made to round out the artichoke fritters I ordered. The fritters were outstanding. Barely breaded and flash fried to perfection and one of the best fried dishes I've had in years, as I don't prefer that type of thing. Steven's recommendation was seriously on point. If a spot like this existed near me, I would be there weekly. If I lived in Chicago, Le Piano wouldn't be able to get rid of me. Don't pass on this place and get there now! Enjoy some wonderful music, legendary drinks, and outstanding food!

Not the end of the world but would've appreciated if that was more clear upfront, instead of getting charged on the bill at the end. Overall loved the venue and the performance, would totally come back!
