It is a small, quaint, place. The lady at the front register is absolutely PHENOMENAL. She is so gracious, courteous, and welcoming. We were welcomed and introduced to the menu and the variety of flavors and options. We took a few minutes to look everything over and then ordered our food. The lady delivered our food at the table as soon as it was ready, always ever so pleasant, mindful and gracious. The restaurant industry can be quite tedious, demanding and exhausting. She is the kind of host and server that restaurants NEED! She was absolutely amazing. Worth tipping over generously. I grew up on the west coast, in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was exposed to East Asian flavors at a very young age, as my mother is Filipino. I know my Asian flavors. It seems like most of their business is takeout however they have a small indoor eating area as well. The chicken was slightly over battered for me but still delicious. This place is worth coming back to every time we drive through Columbia. We may even plan trips with a stop in mind! Our group ordered 6 different entrees, Everyone loved what they had. The "dragon size" special was listed as a smaller portion, but was still a generous serving. The egg drop soup was amazing, homemade quality (nothing like that gelatinous, tasteless stuff they serve on buffet lines). The woman taking our orders was delightful. Horrible staff, one staff member physically touched my right shoulder, stating that the order would be ready soon.. Under no circumstances is a merchant or anyone allowed to physically touch another person, it is against the law, prohibited by the laws in the state of Missouri and throughout .. She was rude and the online order took 35 minutes to prepare because she was clearly upset that I contacted Driver care. An official complaint will be filed!! Just a small restaurant in a strip mall next to a Panera, but very good. They have a variety of Chinese, Korean, and southeast Asian food. I have a new, favorite, Asian casual restaurant. My wife and I went to Okii Mama's last night. It's located in a small strip mall near Grindstone. Utterly non-descript area and if I hadn't been looking for them, I wouldn't have given it a glance. I ordered Cashew Chicken (Springfield Style). For those barbarians among you, Springfield Style means the chicken are small, breaded, crunchy fried pieces, smothered in a light brown gravy. It's usually served with a sprinkle of chopped green onions and of course, lots of cashews. It's a simple dish, but is seldom done well. Too often, the chicken is sodden, the gravy overwhelming, or the cashews stale. Okii Mama nailed every criteria. Absolutely perfect on all counts and beautifully presented. Paired with excellent fried rice and kimchi (more on that later), my dinner was five stars, all around. Claire ordered the Coconut Curry Chicken. It was correctly seasoned with just a hint of bite, sweet coconut milk, ginger, and basil. The chicken was thin, tender, and plentiful. Every aspect was 100% on target. She had plain, steamed rice and it was sticky, fresh, and hot, with no off taste. About the kimchi, I liked it very much and that's saying something as kimchi and I have been on the outs for years. I thought it was mild, the flavors blended nicely, and had a good texture. Claire said it was "OK, but too slimy". Different tastes, I suppose, but since this is my review, I give it a pass. The decor of Okii Mama is generic, fast food Chinese. A couple of TV's on the wall. Hard plastic chairs. Muted colors. Clean, but nothing to write home about. Food is served on square, black plastic plates. They use real flatware and plastic tumblers. Decent upgrade from foam containers and paper cups. Dinner for two, including two extra sides, came to $24. Excellent value, in my opinion. This is sure to become a frequent stop for us. read more

Restaurant and employees very cautious and careful about Covid....everyone wearing masks, gloves, etc. They even spray the pen before you sign. A+ for safety. Food was outstanding, too. Nice portions and very tasty. Egg drop soup was some of the best I've had. Egg rolls are high quality and not the "cheap & greasy" kind that you sometimes get. Kimchee packed with flavor. What to order: the beef shank noodle soup. It definitely has a very heavy heavy star anise Chinese five spice flavor but I enjoyed it and the beef shank was very tender. I think they can probably source better noodles but it wasn't bad I would totally get this again. What not to order: the bao. I fairly certain it's premade frozen bao they order and just reheat. The bao itself is not soft...it's dense and chewy. The pork filling lacked seasoning. I would skip this one. The jasmine tea comes in a nice large pot. It's mostly self service here. All they do is bring out your food when it's ready but you have to bus your own table and sort your dishes into the bin when you're done. read more

Good Taiwanese style beef shank noodle soup. The baozi is alright (the dough to filling ratio is unbalanced in favor of the dough unfortunately, but I can't complain much as in Columbia there aren't many options). I always enjoy the kung pao chicken. It has a nice balance of sweetness and spice. Very nice prices for combo meals! I never leave disappointed. I recommend eating-in. The quality of the food seems slightly better for some reason when you dine in. read more

I had frequented this place before. Service is very friendly but tonight I order pecan chicken with fried rice and a side of broccoli. I don't think a total of 5 pecan halves make it a pecan chicken dish. The broccoli seemed more like a garnish than even half a serving. Of cause the rice was piled in which adds to the volume. It seems that many restaurants try to cut corners instead of increasing the price of the dish. Personally, I will not order at this place again. read more

I find it incredibly hard to believe that this place seriously has 4 stars... and the only reason I'm giving it anything more than 1 star, is because I received some decent customer service. I was in the mood for soup - and reading about their beef noodle I just had to come in and try it. When I think of Thai food I think of an incredible array of spices and what I got was the complete opposite. 3 bites and I couldn't bare it, top ramen has more flavor. I'm from California, so maybe the Thai there is done differently, but I'm not a fan. Safe your money and just go next door to Panera, God knows I should've. My sister and I just ate here for the first time on a whim and we are SO GLAD we did! I had the Taiwanese braised pork loin which is literally one of the best things I have ever eaten! It's SO tender and flavorful! And I don't usually like pork at all. The jasmine tea eggs are such a delicious treat. My sister got the beef curry and absolutely loved it as well. The only thing that I was disappointed about was that they were all out of the red bean steamed buns when we went, but that's obviously not a big deal. The service was also very lovely (we dined-in). Ordered Pad Thai. Love Pad Thai. I don't recommend it here. The meat was over cooked, the flavors crashed into each other and didn't meld at all, the noodles were soggy, the tofu was like a fried, dry sponge. The egg roll was burnt and greasy on the outside and lacked flavor on the inside. For $9.99, I expected it to at least compete with area businesses in quality. We stopped by to place our order to-go. It's fairly small but not tiny. I went with the sesame chicken meal that came with a side + fried rice. They took and made our order in like 10 minutes. The sesame chicken wasn't that great but it was cheap and fast. It kind had a bbq sauce type flavor to it. The fried rice was nice cause it wasn't super greasy but still flavorful. I'm a life-time Weight Watcher member, and it is hard to find places you can go to have a healthy meal. Okii Mama's is a restaurant that actually gives you healthy choices that taste DELICIOUS! My opinion of Okii Mama is that it's a WONDERFUL place if you like American style Asian food (like Panda Express, etc.). They have a couple of authentic dishes (beef noodle soup, etc.), but I have not tried them. My go to when I visit, is the little dragon bowl (which is their name for the smaller portion, but it fills you up like a Chipotle burrito) with orange chicken (my entree), white rice, and seasoned green beans (my side). The menu selection is pan-Asian (think kimchi fried rice, pad thai) but thankfully it falls short of just being another sterilized, standard fusion food place. This is a nice family owned restaurant that has extremely delicious food! I'd recommend trying everything. One of my favorites is the Cashew Chicken. Chicken Pad Thai is very good, just ask for peanuts on the side if you don't like too much. Seven flavor beef and Coconut curry shrimp are another regular choice of mine. For sides, the dumplings are yummy, but so are their broccoli and green beans! Not feeling rice today? Try their Beef Shank Noodles, spicy!
