I ordered the fried rice and egg rolls. The server who took the phone order and handed me the carry out was polite and mindful. The combination fried rice was fine--it lacked in flavor. The egg rolls were perfectly fried, and the contents were good except for the ground pork or whatever was inside of them. It was dry and bland. Finding good Chinese in Columbia has been extremely difficult, and after my trip to Okii Mama, my quest continues. It's definitely not horrible, but I've had better. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing, which is completely possible. The second time I went, I went out on a whim and got the Springfield Cashew Chicken on recommendation of the cashier. It was kinda gross. It's fried chicken with an oyster gravy. There was so much bland gravy and it just invaded in the dish. I was able to bring some flavor back to the gravy inundated chicken with some soy sauce and sriracha. I've also heard horror stories about the wasabi cream chicken. read more

Best asian restaurant in Columbia! The staff are always friendly, and the food is delicious. I always have to get the Taiwanese pancakes and the bao when I come. Their main dishes cater to the more "American" pallet, but they also have a special menu for those who want to try more traditional Taiwanese dishes. I love that you can customize almost any dish to be vegetarian. Oh yeah, they aren't a full service restaurant but the staff basically does everything aside from filling your water. So show your appreciation by dropping whatever you can spare into the tip jar. read more

My only complaint is the shrimp dishes because I wish the shrimps were bigger, juicier, and the sauce could be better. Food was fast and staff was friendly, however, the food was salty and used low quality cuts of meat. General Tsao's is a staple for Chinese Restaurants but the sauce here was as dark as molasses and as salty as soy sauce out the jar. It's nice to support local but this is not the one. read more

Clearly one of the worst restaurants in the country. The Sweet and Sour sauce tasted like Maple Syrup. The food was terrible. The decor was sub-par for budget Chinese places. I have been a fan for a long time, but it seems as though quality has been slipping for some time now. It's a crap shoot these days whether or not your experience will be a positive one. I think in large part it has to do with some personnel changes. The current order takers are not very good at all and appear confused when you go in to pick up your order. The quality of the food itself has also diminished IMHO. I have had some rather "funky" tasting beef and chicken on a few orders. Perhaps, that's just normal but after biting into such a piece of chicken or meat you are pretty much done eating...yeah, it's that "funky". I really loved their other place they owned called Bamboo House in the Columbia Mall but like just about all food court eateries there closed for business years ago. The food here is good however I found it very annoying that whenever their phone rings, it sounds way too much like my home phone. This became increasingly stressful as I was eating there succulent cashew chicken. If you want great food and service fast go to okii mama. Many Columbia food-snob types would tell you to go to a place with the initials B.G. to get Pad Thai... Well, i'd tell you they're wrong. Okii Mama's is better. In fact, last time I tried B.G. the Pad Thai was terrible. It tasted like nothing but soy sauce (basically just tasted salty). This use to be our Sunday night tradition. It is one of the few Chinese places open late on Sunday. The food has been consistently good although the prices have been creeping up since they first opened. The service for sit-down was friendly and faster than most restaurants. The TVs could be a bit too loud at times. This was the only Chinese-style restaurant we ate during our last few years at Mizzou. None of my experiences with this place have been that great but this last visit was just horrible. A friend and myself decided to get dinner from Okii Mama and we ended up getting two combo meals (I had the sesame chicken and he had the general's chicken). The chicken in both our meals was extremely old and thus was so tough that most of it was inedible. We think that the general's chicken was suppose to come with some broccoli but what my friend got was tiny, rubbery little green twigs. The lo mein noodles that came with it were tasteless and soaking in a nasty sauce so we couldn't eat that either. The crab rangoons were also old and the cream cheese was hard. The whole meal was old, very gross, and we had to throw basically all of it away. What a waste. read more

This is a great spot! My wife and I were looking for new places here in Yelp and this one had great ratings, so we figured we'd give it a try. It was awesome! I can't remember what my wife had, but I tried the Coconut Curry Beef and it was superb. We have returned quite a few times since, and the quality has not gone down. Oh the green beans. So crunchy and flavorful. I also enjoyed the pad thai with extra hot sauce. I actually used to go here a lot until I noticed that all the veggies came from a can (you can see into the kitchen from the dining area). However, they provided quick and pleasant service. It is a small restaurant and they get pretty busy during lunch and dinner hours but they move people through quickly. Faux Asian at its worst. Ordered a miso soup with dumplings. The cashier asked if I would like it spicy and I said yes. Spicy was nothing more than a tablespoon of chili paste. The soup itself had less flavor than a can of chicken broth...no exaggeration. Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup has more flavor. The dumplings appeared and tasted like the frozen variety I purchase at the Asian market.
