First time trying Kobe Steak & Sushi as we are new to the area and trying to find our "go to" Japanese place. After eating here, I think we have found it! The food was amazing! I ordered the steak & chicken hibachi with double rice in the place of veggies. I asked for a lot of yum yum sauce and teriyaki sauce. Our waitress brought over a container of Yum Yum and three decent sized bowls of teriyaki sauce. It was perfect! My wife had sushi (she's particular about her sushi) and she said this was the best she's had in a long time. She said you could tell it was fresh. She was particularly impressed that the volcano roll actually looked like a volcano and had shredded crab and all on top of the actual sushi rolls. She must have enjoyed it, because walked up to the sushi bar and complimented the sushi chef. Kobe has two dining options, you can choose to do the hibachi style with the chef preparing your food in front of you or you can choose the "dine in" option. We chose to "dine in" and were seated on the right side of the restaurant. The hibachi tables are all on the left side. Kobe is a nice, clean place. You can tell they take pride in the restaurant. My wife enjoyed that each table has its own little lamp. Our waitress told us they are a small business, not part of some chain. They also order their fish and other stuff for the sushi bar every other day to ensure freshness. She told us they had actually received a delivery that day where they ordered several thousand dollars worth of fish, etc. Give Kobe a try, I promise you won't be disappointed! read more

Ate on dining room side. Has filet & chicken, and filet & scallops hibachi. Miso soup too salty to eat. The filet tasted like sirloin, not tender. Chicken, steak and vegetables over cooked. Walking in, the ambiance is much like any other sushi/hibachi restaurant. Hostess straight ahead, tables and hibachi to the left and sushi bar to the right. The bar is behind the sushi bar, which is a bit unique. We asked about drinks and the bartender showed us some drinks were on special. I will say this, he poured a mean pour, as my girlfriend was a bit tipsy after this one. The sushi is not the best I have ever had (Takashi in Salt Lake City probably still holds that title), but it was better than most I have had lately. My husband and I passed this place on our way to an estate sale and noticed the sign for basil fried rice -- figured we'd give it a try. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, and we got a chance to chat with the owner, Marty -- pleasant, friendly, and clearly proud of his food. He even offered us water or lemonade while we waited for our to-go order. The basil fried rice was surprisingly good -- flavorful, fresh, and not greasy. This was my first visit. I was recommended by my cousin. She said it was amazing and she did not lie! I'm sold. I will be a regular from here on out! The ambiance is peaceful. The food is just right. My palate is happy. The hostess made me feel welcomed and my server was attentive. Parking is plentiful. Totally disappointed in this experience. Greeter and waiter were good even though I sat at the bar. The sushi/ sashimi was very disappointing. All of it was bland, overly soft/ mushy, Wasabi was old and not at all hot. Ginger was tasteless. My order was missing 4 pieces. Order came on a plate that was not only not impressive, it made it look unappetizing. The person making the sushi seemed like he had ever done it before. Saw him Preparing my sushi by cutting off older pieces of each fish to make what he served look better. The Hibachi side was very busy and people seemed happy. I was disappointed and left wondering why I spent $35 on what I felt was definitely not worth it. I always give a restaurants a chance. this place has many sushi rolls to choose from and they are pretty good.. I had the mango roll which is a little sweet and the shrimp tempura both very good. Also got soup and salad... the miso soup was good and salad I did not care for because the ginger dressing tasted mayo based almost like thousand island The hibachi chicken we got was good made fresh lots of flavor. The meal came with very few vegetables outside of mushrooms. Overall I would highly recommend this place the servers are very good regardless if you do the show or not. Pros: Ordered off Yelp with Grubhub and our order was done early. Food was hot. Cons: Tonkotsu Ramen came in two same size containers, was given equal parts broth and noodles. (Not enough broth) The broth tasted rancid, very sour, and inedible. No green onions, only spinach, pork, and an egg. Could not eat this and it was thrown out because of how horrible the broth tasted and smelled. The sushi rolls had no flavor and were very blah. Sushi was not fresh at all. Went several times, and at first liked it. Good food and they did a good job remodeling the place. (Used to be a Mexican restaurant.) But after a bad experience a few months ago, haven't been back and most likely won't. Long story short, the manager wouldn't honor the deal they were advertising (on every single table, mind you). See the hibachi combo that's $15, good M-F 4-6? Well, it was a Friday, and it was 5pm. When we tried to order it, the waiter simply said, "Oh, yeah, sorry about that...that deal starts Monday." Yeah, we were dumbfounded too. I asked to speak to a manger, thinking he would easily honor the deal since - after all - they were advertising it. Instead, he sternly said NO and came across as really greedy. As I said before, have had good food there. But just on principle, don't want to give a business like this my money.
