I have never seen a smaller cafeteria at a hospital than at Ascension St. John Broken Arrow. There is a small section for coffees and drinks. A small area where salads and wraps/sandwiches hide in the corner. For hot food, there are Grill&Co and Central Kitchen. Grill&Co serves the traditional hamburgers and chicken fingers food. Central kitchen serves one dish which varies from day to day basis. On this particular, the dish was the chef's special. The chef's special is a stir fry containing vegetables, rice, and grilled chicken in some sort of greasy soy sauce. It has some Asian features, some American, and some Hispanic features. I guess the chef couldn't make up his mind on what type of food to cook. It is special indeed, one of a kind. Joke aside, it actually tasted really good!

I can't even describe what I am looking at in view here just zoom in is this JACO compliant ?

Came to stay with my friend while she was in the critical care unit of this hospital ! I stayed 3 nights with her and taking care of her while recovering from surgery. This is not a place I would ever want anyone to get care from ! If you have to go here make sure you take an advocate with you! I spent 3 nights watching over the lack of care my friend the areas I observed I reported and will make sure to take it to the top to make sure other folks get the care they deserve when they don't have a voice. I will say this. I was told after 1 hour of my friends O2 reapetly dropping and going back up from 94 to 80 the machine was sounding alarms .. after I finally got a nurse ? Or whom ever was sent to the room. To come into the room I was told "oh it's only this yellow bottom" "next time it goes off YOU can do it and reset it ". Ummm no I can't I am not a nurse ! At this point I had seen and heard enough there are a few shining stars there that I will say were amazingly ya however it's sad to me that the standards in this hospital are the way they are. I dont believe anyone gets into the medical field to do a bad job and I do believe intention is meant to do a great job. But more Training and more staff is needed to properly care for the patients you are seriously putting lives at risk when you have the issues I saw . Secondly ... why is it when every single person on staff came into our room not one of them EXCEPT the housekeeper wrote her name on the board for us to know she would be taking care of us ? Again I have a thousand questions about standard of care ? Does JACO come to this hospital ?

Er report of problem in 10 hours between 2 doctors at same ER.

I want to compliment RN Issac and KiKi, what ever she is. This was HB 8, corridor I believe. Now, a P.A. is over an RN. Issac explained to me that it varies state to state and even hospital to hospital. they were busy as usual and parked my emergency cart against the wall in HB 8. For the time I was there I saw and heard a lot. I was a bloody mess but no one seemed to care. no blankets offered until Kiki came along and that was nearly dismissal time. But besides all that I want to give St John a massage. Cologne. When I was there shortly ago an ER nurse walked me to the bathroom. I nearly gagged she smelled so offensive, I wondered how her coworkers could take it. like a realllly strong deodorant is all I can say. Here in HB there a hefty "guard" who'd stroll through wafting whatever he was wearing. sick/ wounded people should not be subjected to these conditions. We appreciate Dr Eric Thomas and his crew for all they have done. Keep up serving the community the way you do. We understand that doctors, surgeons, and nurses are busy, but communication with a patient's family should not be treated as an afterthought, especially when the patient has hepatic encephalopathy, a condition that can make it difficult to accurately remember or relay medical information. Every morning, doctors would evaluate my mother and explain her treatment plan to her, but our family was almost never contacted afterward. We were expected to get important medical updates from someone who was not always capable of communicating them accurately. One example was when my mother's hematoma was drained. None of us knew the procedure had even been scheduled until we arrived at the hospital and found her already being prepared. As the people listed on her chart to receive medical information, we should not have been finding out about major procedures at the last minute. Trying to get updates ourselves was just as frustrating. We would call the nurses' station asking to speak with a nurse, only to be told they were too busy and would call us back, or we would sit on hold until the call disconnected. Most of the time, we never received the promised callback. This review is not meant to criticize the staff who worked hard to care for my mother. It is about a communication system that repeatedly failed our family during one of the most difficult times of our lives. Families deserve timely updates, returned phone calls, and communication that recognizes when a patient is unable to reliably relay important medical information. I sincerely hope Saint Francis improves its communication with authorized family members so other families do not have the same experience.

From the time my Dad called me to tell me that he was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer to the day I saw him in the ICU was exactly one month to the day - and he was dead just a couple weeks later. The staff answered my questions without beating around the bush which I appreciated. While my siblings and I were very pragmatic about our Dad's prognosis, my Mom and my Dad's extended family weren't taking it so well. My mom was at the hospital 24/7, sleeping in a chair in my Dad's room to be by his side. The staff were incredibly gracious and kind to my Mom. They let all of the family filter in, pray, talk, etc., for as long as they wanted outside of shift change. While I was out of the country on the night of my Dad's passing, a few of my siblings were there and they let me know that the staff allowed more than 2 people at a time to go in and sit with my Dad's body for a few hours to grieve, which I know my family appreciated. The only drawback for my visit to Hillcrest was that the cafeteria was rough for gluten-free options as a celiac. I went an entire day on just a bag of Cheetos from the cafeteria while I sat in my Dad's room. If I needed to stay longer at the hospital, I would have had to order safe food from outside of the hospital. Overall, my interaction with security, nurses, interns and doctors was fantastic in such a stressful time that I didn't have much time to prepare for. Visited: November 2025
