This review is specifically for the Radiology area. I am at that stage of my life where I have to get a yearly mammogram. I have always had a pleasant experience here with the techs. They try to make things as comfortable as possible, and keep the atmosphere light. They get you in and out decently quick if you have an early appointment. No complaints - the ladies that work here have always made this experience easy for me. read more

I have never seen a smaller cafeteria at a hospital than at Ascension St. John Broken Arrow. There is a small section for coffees and drinks. A small area where salads and wraps/sandwiches hide in the corner. For hot food, there are Grill&Co and Central Kitchen. Grill&Co serves the traditional hamburgers and chicken fingers food. Central kitchen serves one dish which varies from day to day basis. On this particular, the dish was the chef's special. The chef's special is a stir fry containing vegetables, rice, and grilled chicken in some sort of greasy soy sauce. It has some Asian features, some American, and some Hispanic features. I guess the chef couldn't make up his mind on what type of food to cook. It is special indeed, one of a kind. Joke aside, it actually tasted really good! read more

Care was great with 2 surgeries almost 2 years ago but and it's a huge but... I don't recommend if you're looking to ever have them bill your insurance correctly. My insurance is willing to pay if they'ed just be willing to call them for help with the proper codes. However, I was informed they don't do that! What a joke! Took my brother in after he fell off a ladder. As we were the first to check in we were the last to be seen even with the pain he was in they felt as though he should have to wait 3 hours to be seen by a doctor. If that's not ridiculous then I don't know what is. Typically they are supposed to see the patient with the most life threatening injuries. While prioritizing who needs to go first - mind you he fell off a ladder. Everyone's sitting behind the checkin desk laughing and discussing everything in their personal lives while ordering uber eats and etc. St. John's in broken arrow is not a great hospital they in fact are the absolute worst hospital in Tulsa/ Surrounding areas! read more

Came to stay with my friend while she was in the critical care unit of this hospital ! I stayed 3 nights with her and taking care of her while recovering from surgery. This is not a place I would ever want anyone to get care from ! If you have to go here make sure you take an advocate with you! I spent 3 nights watching over the lack of care my friend the areas I observed I reported and will make sure to take it to the top to make sure other folks get the care they deserve when they don't have a voice. I will say this. I was told after 1 hour of my friends O2 reapetly dropping and going back up from 94 to 80 the machine was sounding alarms .. after I finally got a nurse ? Or whom ever was sent to the room. To come into the room I was told "oh it's only this yellow bottom" "next time it goes off YOU can do it and reset it ". Ummm no I can't I am not a nurse ! At this point I had seen and heard enough there are a few shining stars there that I will say were amazingly ya however it's sad to me that the standards in this hospital are the way they are. I dont believe anyone gets into the medical field to do a bad job and I do believe intention is meant to do a great job. But more Training and more staff is needed to properly care for the patients you are seriously putting lives at risk when you have the issues I saw . Secondly ... why is it when every single person on staff came into our room not one of them EXCEPT the housekeeper wrote her name on the board for us to know she would be taking care of us ? I had a knee surgery at Ascension St. John Broken Arrow earlier this year and I found the facility to be clean, staff friendly and efficient and my Surgeon, Dr Holt, to be amazing! I also liked the convenience of having my after care equipment delivered to the surgical waiting room! One PEACEFUL suggestion would be for the waiting room to pipe in calming music, classical or spa, as most patients have a sense of anxiety prior to surgery. I can't remember what was on the TV in the office but I found it aggravating. I realize this is a personal opinion but it makes logical sense to me, calm music calms the soul. read more

Home from a second ER visit. I was crying loudly and just begged the check in lady to find someone who would actually HELP MY DAUGHTER. The first doctor completely bipassed anything I said, looked at her for 5 minutes and sent her home with instructions for a "general rash". #StJohnsTulsaER (9 hours later) After not sleeping from the pain in her face and the swelling coming right back to the beginning...d. Sent us in and a very angry mom on a mission to be HEARD AND TAKEN SERIOUSLY (I'm tired of the "panicked mom" assumptions every time... damn-it just freaking listen!!!) Second visit results: this is a medication reaction; like I said in the very beginning. It will take a few days to get through and the pain in her face and heat of her skin and location of swelling... are exact allergic reactions to a medicine she takes. Lesson for my moms and girls: forget their credentials (sometimes only) and trust your gut; trust your mom instinct.... Don't let their "title" make you feel like you don't know your child! read more

The administration of visits is extremely poor when it comes to scheduling as well as wait times. While you may be scheduled for a certain time, you are left to wait from anywhere to 30 minutes past your scheduled appointment times. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible!! The billing department is completely incompetent. They refuse to code correctly to get paid by my insurance company, which covers my operations. Instead, they are harassing me with threats for payment. Meanwhile, I work full time and they expect me to handle this for them. Like I have time to do my job and theirs! Worked here for 8 months loved it but left because of being bullied by the OR super visor. And she still has the nerve to talk about me and make comments about me after I've quit. And admin did nothing to stop her. And she bullied and harassed me for months. You couldn't pay me to deal with admin or her ever again. This is not a dependable ER. These doctors are rude, uncaring, unreliable. Family members have left after going in with fevers, problems were not resolved. Turns out they missed a bladder infection in an older woman and colitis with another. They also missed an infection with a young child. This little girl was diagnosed with a tummy infection. Took her to her pediatrician and she had to be hospitalized for pneumonia! This was such a scary time for us. I do agree with another reviewer, that since Ascension came in, it's all about the bottom dollar. They used to have tagline in their commercials that ran in the 90's: Medical Excellence. Compassionate Care. They are so far away from their mission statement it's not funny. There is another hospital that is locally based. I have far more satisfaction with that hospital and I used to believe for a long time that St. John was the superior hospital. Times have changed and not for the better. read more

Came in after hours with COVID-19 symptoms trying to get a test. Was told to try the county health department, but all their test locations were closed for the night. Waited more than two hours to see a doctor, who said there was no need for a test, just self quarantine for two weeks. What a waste of time! read more

I will say the care here was great the problem will follow with billing. Don't expect a simple process there will several bills of over lapping charges and an itemized statement is almost imposable to get. The collection department will be after you before you have open the first bill and will not let up. Don't use the automated system and expect help, I just found out it does not work after five requests for itemized statements. To bad the care is over shadowed by the follow up after care. read more

I took my husband for surgery this morning and everyone was so nice and genuine. Lori was the nurse that checked him in and made him feel relaxed and comfortable. The anesthesiologist, Dr Sutterfield, I think that was her name was great and answered all of our questions. Josh and Anissa in recovery made us feel at home and totally taken care of. read more

If you're a Veteran, DO NOT use Community Care (CCN) here. They are HORRIBLE. Received treatment, they filed through TriCare, even though I specified Community Care multiple times, filled out the paperwork which stated CCN. So now they say they never received payment, which is incorrect since TriCare forwarded the bill to CCN, which paid the bill. Provided all copies of the bill to their customer service center (in the Phillipines btw), 5x since October. Verified they received it. Has been escalated multiple times, with promises that they would have someone reach out to me. To date they've sent it to collections twice, I've provided the documentation to the collections agency, so they withdrew it. At this point I'll be filing a congressional complaint about their business practices and harassment. Especially since they have admitted to filing it incorrectly and the promise to "resubmit to CCN." They are completely incompetent and dishonest. They're trying to force payment, even though the issue has been brought to their attention multiple times. I tried to be patient, alas after 8 months I have to seek outside assistance since they're completely incapable of following the law regarding CCN.. read more

I was sent to the ER by Urgent Care for an infection that was drug resistant and needed IV antibiotics. An ER visit is never fun and usually requires a long wait, so I expected those things. The wait was long, but that is the only complaint. My veins are very hard to get a needle into, but my nurse was very skilled and took blood for multiple tests and got my IV antibiotics going without much difficulty. The doctor was very thorough and kept me in the ER until my blood tests showed that I wasn't becoming septic and it was safe to send me home. Everyone was polite and respectful. When I left at 2 AM, they even directed me to a place to get the supper I had missed. read more

RE: 5th floor bone and joint ward. I'm sorry 5 stars is as high as Yelp will go. The staff on the 5th floor are simply excellent. The knee surgery went like clockwork (Dr. Reid from Tulsa Bone and Joint is, for lack of a better word, also excellent as is his staff). Terrible experience, I went to the hospital because I had very high blood pressure. They did nothing to address my bp and I was even told by the doc I would need to see my primary doctor to get help for bp. They gave me something for my headache and they monitor my heart for about 30 mins and sent me home. I was still drowsy when I was discharged. I was not offered a wheel chair. I had a terrible experience twice, the front desk people at the broken arrow clinic has no compassion none so ever for very sick people. I went and saw PA with terrible non stop cough and wheezing in my chest, was told, it is a virus your chest is good, if it doesn't go away with in 10 days, call us back, will give you an antibiotics, it didn't and got worse, called back, they said will send a note to the doctor, will get back to you, 2 days later I called again saying my chest is hurting from coughing and I called and no one got back to me, well there is nothing we can do except send a note to the doctor, could you make it rush, no we told you all we can do send the note to the doctor and hang up on me, no one ever got back to me. I had an old antibiotic at home I used it and it did clear it for a short time because the course was not complete, I went back today talked to the PA and I told him that Azithromycin has worked very well with me in the past, he gladly said he will do it, got home had a different antibiotic, called again, we send a note to the doctor, could you rush it no we can't do that, all we can do is send a note to the doctor, are you gonna call back? wait for the pharmacy to call you and the cycle of carelessness continue while patient suffers. read more

This is not a hospital. Its a buisness. The ER doesnt care about patients, they care about the insurance card. Twice I've been there for urgent situations, and was left waiting for HOURS just to be taken to a room where we would wait for several more hours for the doctor to come in. I had a horrible pain in my neck, and I could not turn my head to the right at all. I was unable to even stand up straight, so to me, this was an emergency. I did not want to wait days to get into my regular doctor, I was in severe pain and unable to work, so I figured...I should go to the ER. There were no patients in the waiting room, so they got me in quick. That's where the positive experience stopped. I had to explain my problem to 4 different people. Eventually the doctor came in to see me, Dr. Jeff Black MD was his name. He was extremely rude, and I felt he was offensive. He came in and leaned against the counter with arms folded and asked, "what do you want me to do"? I told him my current situation, and he did little to examine me. He didn't even listen to my chest, which all doctors do. He just acted like I was there to get pain meds, like I was an addict, which if the moron would look at my chart he would see I have not taken any pain medicine in 7 years when I broke my thumb. $1,000 later he gave me some cheap pain medicine that did not help me, because my neck was inflamed. He should have given me a steroid shot or cortisone shot. He should have tried to treat me, but he literally said, "I'm not touching your pain issue". I told him I wasn't trying to get meds, I just needed some form of hi powered anti-inflammatory administered immediately. I guess he was too lazy to use WebMD. I went to my regular doctor a few days later and he was able to get me a steroid pack that helped free up my neck to move. If you have an emergency, do not go here if you can avoid it. It's very clear the doctor I dealt with does not care about patients and is not at all empathetic. Worst doctor experience I've ever had, and I will never be back if I can help it. read more

I had my first total knee replacement in February of 2016. The required preadmission class was well worth it. I received a ring binder with all the information I needed to prepare for surgery and the information about my procedure and post op care. The admissions process was seamless. Checked in and was on my way in no time. The OR staff were prompt, courteous, respectful and very skillful in preparing me for surgery. The post op recovery room treatment, while somewhat of a blur, was attentive to my needs. The floor nurses and aids were top notch. They checked on me at regular intervals and were always concerned with my comfort and medical treatment. Post op pain control was excellent. The room was comfortable. The food was ordered from room service, was delivered on time and was actually pretty tasty. In fact, I am returning right after Christmas for my other knee replacement. I can't recommend it any more than that! read more

The E.R staff is so rude. I will never go there again!! They are so uncaring and unprofessional. I've heard them talk to patients and other staff in a manner in which I would not talk to a dog. When you need something the majority act as if they are busy, but when you step into the hallway you can see them painting their nails or giving each other massages. (I've witnessed this). I would not recommend this place to anyone. This is not my idea of what good nursing care is at all!!! read more

Was thinking of giving it three stars because of receiving good medical care..but... everytime I go they treat me like a pill seeker when I tell them I have been on Suboxone for about 4 years so not to give me any narcotics. I went in for a post 24hr stomach bug dehydration migraine. My fiancé and I overheard the doctor tell the nurse to "check for track marks..". And the nurse was unable to hide her intentions when she checked my arm for the iv under the blood pressure cuff. And tried to play like it was a mistake...she is the one that put the iv in in the first place. In the past when visiting for kidneystones we have heard comments and received the same treatment till they see an xray proving otherwise. So unless you can 100% prove upon entry that you are dying or injured I would not recommend visiting this ER. Mad Props and a STAR for WAITING ROOM cleanliness and wait time. I was in St. Johns and was totally without my medications and some I HAVE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS.

I was in yesterday at 1030am having severe back pain on my right lower back and had been vomiting. During the initial talk with the doctor he advised my liver could be the issue and gave an IV for hydration and nausea meds. After my iv ran out i had to leave my room to get someone to remove the bag. no one gave me another. I was never offered anything for the pain, I was given an xray of my stomach, back and chest. They also took blood. 5 hours later I told them I had to leave and I was advised I had to sign a release since the doctor never came back and I never received my results nor did I receive discharge papers. This hospital was the worst I have ever been to. Not only do I have a doctor telling me my liver may be failing (per his words not mine) then to never return nor give anything or offer anything for pain, nor did i get checked back on. Even if I have a limited time to reach a hospital, I will go out of my way to never return to this one again. Now medical records dept is closed over the weekend. Still waiting on the website to update my records. Checked out after 330pm read more

My experience with this hospital was amazing every step of the way from pre-op to discharge. I was there November 2016 for total (left) knee replacement and again February 2017 for my right knee. The staff was professional, kind, pleasant and not only provided excellent care they answered any and all questions and concerns. The 5th floor not only took great care of me , they are set up to make sure my husband and other family visitors were comfortable and well cared for during my stay. The food was delicious, and very convenient and well priced for my husband to have meals with me. I would absolutely recommend this hospital for knee replacement!! read more

Horrible horrible experience in the ER. Don't come here. The Dr. was cold as ice and she didn't bother asking me about my medical history and I have an auto-immune disease. She was arrogant and dismissed me when I was trying to tell her my symptoms and my primary care physician sent me to the ER. She treated me like I was wasting her time , like I don't have better things to do with my time than be sick and go to emergency rooms. Now I know why the ER at the Broken Arrow location was so empty; it's because of doctors like her. read more

My daughter was the ONLY patient in the ER, but the nurses were too busy chatting to take care of her. The nurse that was assigned to her (Suni) was extremely rude from the beginning to the end of our stay. She even RIPPED out her IV with the tape instead of removing it correctly. It was TERRIBLE! They didn't even discharge her properly, we just walked out the door. She never communicated, never got her a blanket or a sheet to cover up with, even after we mentioned that we found a fitted sheet to cover up with because she was cold, Suni just ignored us... THERE WAS NO OTHER PATIENTS THERE AT ALL, we finally asked the CT guy for a proper blanket! After being out of town when my daughter got very sick, and being awake all night long while she writhed in pain, we drove 4 hours back home to Broken Arrow to go straight to the ER and be treated TERRIBLE! I'm so sad that it's this close but we will be going someplace else for care next time!! So disturbing their job is to take care of hurting people! read more

I went to the ER on a Sunday around 3pm with pain in my lower, right abdomen. After a CT Scan the doctor informed me that I had an appendicitus. I was then told that they have no surgeons on hand at that facility on the weekends so I would have to transport to a different hospital. I was shocked! I came to a hospital ER because I had an issue, and issue was found and they were not able to deal with the issue. I could have went to an Urgent Care center, gotten the same result and paid thousands less. Now I will have a huge bill from this hospital as well as the hospital I transported to! I do not recommend this facility if you have an issue on a weekend that may require surgery. read more

i had out patient surgery 8/2018 and I was so impressed with everyone there. the admitting staff was excellent. the out patient surgery staff was great! They did their job while I bantered back and forth with them. they answered every question I asked and my friend asked. The information I was given was very reassuring. When I woke up in recovery, my nurse was sitting right beside me, talking to me rubbing me arm and making sure I had ice chips. The whole experience was wonderful. My surgeon, Dr Griffin TB&J, was absolutely wonderful too! read more
