ONE OF The ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE!!! My pet started having seizures during the night. Didn't want to go because I know how these places work or don't work. Got there and they treated us like we were there for a vaccination clinic. No ER CARE AT ALL inspite of the acute onset of seizures. My poor baby had a seizure while there, and they still did not administer emergency care. We were there from 3 1/2 hrs in the middle of the night! They did nothing. I begged the entire time for them to administer emergency intervention! Finally at the 3 1/2 hr marker the large, obese nurse with cranberry hair dumped my baby at my feet and walked away. My pet was limp and barely whimpering in the pet taxi. While driving him to another vet he had another seizure. This location took IMMEDIATE ACTION, did emergency intervention and took us ahead of at least 40 patients. They did CPR, oxygen, IV meds, intubated him. . My baby DID NOT SURVIVE! BTW they never came out with their clipboard asking me to sign to allow them to perform each lifesaving procedure. They just did what needed to be done to save a little being. RIP My love, I'm sorry I took you to this awful place. read more

Ball is treated the same as she treated me and my precious Freya 100 fold. no matter any circumstance do not question them on any aspect of them treating your four legged. my precious dog was denied the treatment they told me they were going to give her and she was handed to my ride in the lobby saying your dog is discharged, while i sat in exam room #3 for an hour after dr. ball threw a fit that i didnt embrace her treatment protocol with blind faith. this place is absolutely ridiculous! This place was a godsend! We live in Dallas and couldn't find a cardiologist in Texas to get our dog in before September/October. My primary vet in Plano suggested to see a specialist after our 14 yr old Pekingese Gizmo was having "fainting" episodes. I researched and found this clinic who was so quick to get us scheduled with Dr.Hodges within 2 weeks of me calling. The scheduler was extremely kind and understanding and even called to inform my doctor had sent records over. When we checked in the staff was all so incredibly nice and welcoming. Dr.Hodges immediately made us feel welcome and after completing an echocardiogram found the issue with my pup. He is now on meds and each day is more and more active. I'm excited to follow up in a few weeks and speak with them again. We will definitely make another trip out here for Gizmo, if needed, as well as any of our pups if a health issue arises. Wish I could give them 0 stars! DO NOT GO HERE! Literally just left, we drove a hour here, waited a hour for them to do a fecal test for parvo. I walked out and told them how long we have been waiting. Ten minute passes and still nothing. Finally the tech comes in tells us the results and the vet will be in shortly. I walk out and let them know we will see our regular vet tomorrow since she was out of town tonight and I'm going to pay the $60 test she tries to tell me the vet wants to talk and wait. I said no I will pay for the test and she calls someone and says there is a exam fee. I say no I did not see a vet but I will pay for the test that took all of 3 minutes. Long story short do not come here, like the rest of the comments they are horrible, rude and just want your money. Might I add the receptionist was RUDE! read more

This place is horrible! We took our senior dog there in Nov 2023, not sure what was wrong with him he was just very sick acting and lethargic one night. We were the only ones there, but they paid no attention to us and made us sit in the front lobby. Meanwhile as people filtered in with their pets, they all received priority attention and were immediately placed in rooms for treatment; an hour later we are still in the front lobby. They took our dog from us to do an exam and check his vitals. We inquired why we were still sitting in the front lobby, they then put us in a room; 45 min later we asked them to give us our dog back. I used the term " please reunite us with our dog". They brought him into our room dripping .... dripping with alcohol, he was literally leaving puddles of it on the floor. We are at the two-hour mark now. Waited and waited and finally a vet came in and said he had pneumonia and asked what we wanted to do: did we want a blood test, or chest x-rays, or for him to spend the night, or for him to receive any medication. My husband and I were shocked; why is the Vet, the doctor, asking us if we want treatment for him and what treatment to give him? Hell, yes, we want medicine for him and emergency treatment! It has now been almost 3 hours and they have done nothing for our dog except pour alcohol on him which they said was to help them do an ultrasound. They kept hinting that they are happy to do anything we want to him or let him spend the night. We got the distinct impression they were trying to pump-up our bill/ inflate the overall cost. The Vet was extremely vague, and we both got the feeling they absolutely did not care about our dog. We sat in the room for another hour then someone came in and told us they will prescribe some medicine but that it could take 2-4 more hours ...yes you heard me correctly...2- 4 more hours before anyone on their staff could get his prescriptions packaged up. At this point I got mad and asked point- blank " why the hell it is taking you guys so long, we've been here 4 hours and you haven't done anything" , here is what they said - " your dog isn't high on our priority list right now, we have other customers more important than you " . My husband and I almost fell out of our chairs. More than four hours earlier we were the ONLY FIRST customers in their building. I said please give us our medicine and let us go home. We sat there for another 25 minutes, at which time I went and complained to the front desk. They said they wanted to give him fluids via IV, even though he had a bowl of water in front of him and was drinking from it readily; so, we waited for that. This lady poked our dog with a big needle three different times and squeezed the IV bag hard to force the fluids into him (under his skin) as fast as possible, once the bubble on his back was full, she would pull it out and stick him again. At one point my husband was scrambling trying to stop two areas from bleeding because she kept sticking him in other areas to get the IV bag emptied under his skin; he had to ask her for cotton balls to help with the bleeding. She was harsh and showed absolutely no care or kindness to our dog at all. Finally got our antibiotics and ran from this horrible place- this was like being in the Twilight zone. We went to our vet two days later; he did not have pneumonia. OVS showed no care or concern or even kindness to our dog or us and went so far as to tell us they had other patients that were more important than we were. We will never again use this facility and will tell every pet owner we know to avoid this retched place. DO NOT use Oklahoma Vet Specialist (OVS). Our total elapsed time there was 4 hours and 10 minutes and received no treatment to speak of. read more

Any pet owner knows that when there is urgent care needed it is super scary. I had to take little Archie in to OVS because he had a large blockage in his esophagus. The clinic was super busy the day we went in, but there were plenty of people at the front desk and a tech came in immediately. They took his vidals. The Dr. explained the procedure they would need to do. They had complete success and Archie wanted to play ball the next morning. Many thanks to all who made what could have been tragic a complete success. They were extremely caring and compentent. Advice to any dog owner......Do not give your dogs rawhide. And thank you especially to Dr Hodges for taking such great care of Archie. read more

Terrible. In it for the money. Brought my chocolate lab in cause she was looking a little bloated. If it was actual bloat, it can be deadly very quickly. This wasn't the case, they took her in, we sat in the parking lot for 3 hours, $2,000 worth of tests later, they tell us they want to keep her over night. The next morning they say our options are a $5,000-$8,000 surgery or we put her down. We didn't do either, that was 2 years ago and she's been living her life happy and healthy as ever. read more

I would give a zero if possible. I spent over four hours on a Saturday afternoon in a waiting room from start to finish. I was told that if I had to put my puppy to sleep, I would not be charged for the office visit. I was charged for that. Over four hours later (BTW, they ask for your driver's license, copy it, and then ask for it every time you go to the counter to pay a bill, or even leave...feel like a criminal? ) and a bill over 300.00, and a dead puppy with no diagnosis, I left. I was told that pictures of my puppy would be shared with their specialist who only works Tuesday through Friday, and I would have another opinion from her. I have called twice, talked to receptionists, left message for the specialist, and called again to talk with a technician. I was told that it would cost more for the specialist's opinion. I said I would pay for that. I asked if I could get chart notes from the vet who saw my puppy. I was told that she had not made notes yet (4 days later). I pointed out that she was new and maybe did not know what she was doing (she told me she was new). I was told that I was rude. I only told them what I was promised in my visit. Now, I am 'rude'. I don't recommend going here unless you do have a gold mine and don't care if you hang around for half a day to be treated. I am sure they do good work sometimes; it just did NOT happen for me. This is the 3rd veterinarian clinic I went to for a diagnosis. They advertise that they are really great at that. It did not happen for me or my puppy. Good luck. read more

I would highly recommend NOT going here. Throughout our entire experience, it felt like they were taken advantage of our concern for our pup to get a ridiculous amount of money. (I usually read reviews, and wish I would have!! But in the midst of emotional upset over our pup, we just went to the closest animal ER). First off, we took our puppy to our primary veterinarian for a wellness check. They discovered that her PCV was very low, at 11%. She was critically anemic due to a parasite that got out of control (we had no idea). They sent us home with a dewormer and we were to follow up later this week. They said if her PCV improved at all, it was a good sign. Blood transfusion would be needed if it got into the single digits. About 2 hours after we gave her the dewormer, she started vomiting. Our vet suggested we get to the ER because she might have bleeding in her GI tract. Our situation was a little difficult because we are in quarantine, so we called ahead to make sure we could do curb-side service. This part should have been a warning to not visit here at all. But after we explained our situation in its fullness 3 different times, finally on the 4th phone transfer, I didn't explain anything, just asked if we could still come even if we were in quarantine. Finally, we got our answer and took her in. They did blood work and said they would call with results within 20 minutes. Well, nearly an hour later we finally called and after being on hold, got to someone who could give us results. They told us that she had parasitic anemia due to hookworms, and needed a blood transfusion. They didn't give us much information about the PCV numbers at first -- said it was "around 11%". We asked for a quote (obviously) and the doctor said she would get some numbers together and give us a call back. 30 minutes later, still not call back. We called and got put on hold for almost 10 minutes, and hung up (screaming baby in the car). They called us a few minutes later, and finally gave us pricing, but ONLY for outpatient or inpatient blood transfusion. They gave us zero other options. We asked specifically about bleeding in the GI tract (as our vet said), but it was brushed off. We asked more probing questions about her PCV and other issues, and they were so negative about everything. Her PCV had gone up to 14 or 15, which our vet had said was a good sign, but they basically said it was negligible difference. Yes, we could take her home but any more damage and she could die. Any more vomiting and she could die. I get it that they have to be honest, but this whole time our puppy was playing and barking and wanting to have some fun. She clearly wasn't knocking on death's door yet. They gave us NO options besides a $750 (outpatient) or $1380 (inpatient) blood transfusion. They pushed and pushed for it. After asking a lot of questions and clearly driving the tech crazy, we decided to take our puppy home and do our best nurture her back to health. We did get a 24-hour anti-nausea shot for her, but decided to continue with what our vet originally told us - giving her the dewormer and watching ber carefully, then following up with them later. When my husband picked up our pup, he specifically asked for the tech we had been working with because she was going to answer a couple more of his questions, but they gave several excuses as to why she couldn't come. All in all, it was a very disheartening experience. We wanted to help our puppy to the best of our ability and to be given any options possible. Instead, we had to repeat our story 5+ times and we were forced to choose between a $750+ option or death. We are pretty confident that our precious pup will pull through with patient love and care, despite the emotional roller coaster we were just put through. read more

They are simply more concerned about increasing cost than service. I had very sick kitten they run testing costing nearly $1500.00. These test showed several issues but when released there was no medicine, no treatment plan only copies of his testing. Making matter worse they called at 7 pm to let me know they were releasing him. I lived and they knew this 1.5 hours from TULSA. To get the care my kitten needed I had to go to my local veterinarian for help, meds and treatment plans. Very inconsiderate staff, and poor management skills. They lost my dead dogs collar. Entire staff failed to properly search for it. Stephanie assured me that the collar stays at the vet until the ashes are returned. I even called the day after his death to confirm again with Stephanie, before his body was taken to the crematory. 5 days later I requested the collar before the ashes to be returned. Stephanie couldn't find his collar and said she would get with a manager to find out. Never received a call back. Reached out again 3 days later, not a single manager knew of the issue. I requested not to be called back and on hold until they can find the collar since I never received a call back sooner. The supervisor kept over speaking me, conducting poor customer service skills, along with human decency. The manager then informed me to "speak with my friend before calling them." Which obviously I did, AND Stephanie told me she was keeping it at the vet until the urn arrives. She confirmed that with me twice. The manager still made a point to make an addition call after already telling me they can't locate it, just to be hateful informing me to "call my friend next time" as if I didn't talk to my friend about my dead dog in the first place. As if i didn't tell her Stephanie confirmed with me twice they kept it until The ashes returned. Very inconsiderate, lazy management. Highly do not recommend to any pet owner. The managers would rather argue and be mean to people who lost a pet than accept any form of responsibility and have compassion. Add to your response: After days of incompetence, i said "what the f happened" which is not assault. Because again, you don't know what the f happened. Your staff was over speaking me when asking, "what did Stephanie do?" Again, you're not accepting responsibility for your own staff member telling me three separate times she thought the collar would be there until ashes returned. I was going off of what I knew based on the company itself. The company itself is still choosing to argue the matter and not accept responsibility. Calling me AGAIN after already telling me they lost it just to be hateful which would be very great to see in person, guarantee that would've gone much differently. Very poor management and life skills in general. Just because you're desensitized to animals dying doesn't mean customer service skills aren't a must. read more

Thank goodness for OVS. I had an emergency with my dog after poor stitch work from Banfield Per Hospital. OVS saw me right away and within 3 minutes, brought my dog back out to the car with new staples. OVS is AMAZING. They are so nice and compassionate. I can not recommend them enough. This was the second time we have had to go here due to terrible care from Banfield and both times it has been nothing but amazing care. Thank you!!!! read more

Every single worker was amazing and so kind. They took her back for vitals and a scan. She came in acting like herself. Our nurse explained she had a seizure and what to do from here. I took my Boston terrier to this location in the wee hours of the morning because she was demonstrating altered behavior and I had a gut feeling something was very off. This facility took her into their care very quickly and were able to diagnose the problem fast. They do on site blood testing I believe, which meant a lot to me as it was the main way of figuring out what was wrong with her. The prices were a little pricey, but not so much that I couldn't pay it and she needed the emergency care so I was happy to pay for it of course. But I will say the care was worth the price! They were very professional in timing and the way they interacted with me and my precious pup. They let me go back to the back area to see her. She had to stay overnight and they even sent me pictures of them snuggling her during the day! It gave me so much peace of mind to know she was being well cared for. I took her back for a check up again a week later (was worried my pups main vet wouldn't get labs back fast enough) and saw a different vet that time. That vet was also incredible. Even got on the floor with my Boston to make sure she felt the most comfortable she could. I would take my dog here and no where else in an emergency situation. read more

My dog's vet is out of town so I took her to OK Vet Specialists. They are a rip off. They pushed for unnecessary expensive testing. After spending $600 on office visit, basic tests and medicine, they want another $800 for a biopsy and also pushing for dermatologist appointments and meds. They did nothing to actually treat my dog. Basically they just looked at her and charged me for it. Oklahoma Vet Specialists is shady.... Never again. I should have known from the lobby that this place was going to cost a fortune. However, I didn't realize that the treatment would be so poor and that they would just stress testing. If anyone goes there, beware of their push for unnecessary expensive tests. My vet would have done MUCH better and helped my dog vs only trying to get in my back pocket. Never again...... read more

I am eternally grateful to the good people who helped us in our time of need. My beautiful kitten was in a horrible accident and I called them howling in despair around 10:30 one night. The person who answered got me a nurse, who told me the best course of action was to go straight there, and that the receptionist would be ready for us when we arrived. They called for a tech "stat" who ushered my kitten into the back while I crumpled into the nearest chair. Luckily my best friend was with me because you really need to have your wits about you once you arrive. They need immediate ID and signatures on various forms indicating a promise to pay right away. There is paperwork to be filled out, and they take an incident report right away too. After that, we were led into an exam room where a tech informed us of his general status, and his treatment plan. They had taken his vitals and restored his breathing without demanding payment, which is the ethical thing to do, but there was more to be done, and so they showed me what it would cost best case scenario and worst case scenario, and they needed payment right then before they could proceed. It was in the range of $390- $1090 and I had to admit that I couldn't afford the upper end of the scale. They had a few options for credit approval through a couple of different services, but I was fortunate enough to find the funds another way. I really don't think the prices are unreasonable, especially considering the prices for human care. Everything was itemized and nothing was over one hundred dollars. The most expensive items were the emergency exam ($90) and the 12-hour stay ($66) which seemed very reasonably priced considering the trust I was bestowing them. Kat Caldwell is an absolute saint, and she is doing the work she was meant to do. She was very warm, and very sympathetic. She made sure to start off with "He's going to be ok!" probably because she could see the intense distress written all over my face. She went into great detail about the extent of his injuries and explained how she had some to her treatment plan decisions. She admitted that the high end price included testing that she was putting off until it became apparent that it was absolutely necessary to ensure the most accurate results, and prevent us from overspending. The degree of consideration and attention she provided was something I have never before experienced from a vet, and it was everything a person could hope for in such a time of crisis. Every member of staff we encountered from the moment we walked in the door made me feel cared for. I felt that their concern was sincere and that there was no judgment made of the situation, just the reassurance that they understood it was an accident and that everything would be ok. They were somber and warm and comforting at reception, the tech crouched down and explained the plan sheet at eye-level which made me feel very cared for, and he had such warm eyes, I felt very reassured. They were so kind to let me see my cat one more time before I had to leave him there for the night. Seeing him was an immediate relief, because he seemed the exact opposite of when I had brought him in. He was no longer panting and seemed to be in much less pain. I got to pet him and give him a kiss goodnight. I left feeling so relieved. The next morning they called me at 6:30 and said he was ready to come home. Fortunately, the additional tests weren't necessary, so the bill remained at $390. That's still a lot of money, but I was happy to pay, especially considering how fearful I had been just eight hours prior. I would have paid anything, done anything to save my cat, and I feel like I was treated fairly and with respect and compassion throughout the entire process. When we were pulling into the parking lot, I was promising my cat that these people would make him all better, and they helped me keep that promise. read more

Our dog had been having violent convulsions and seizures for hours. The clinic refused treatment until we paid a bill from 2014 that was a $53 addition to the $800.00 plus bill we paid in 2014. We never received the additional bill, but no problem. It was now $143.81 with interest they said. "Where was the bill sent?" I asked. They gave an address that was not what I gave them and was incorrect. "There is the problem." I said. "You have to pay the entire amount or your dog will not be treated." Not wanting to negotiate over a suffering animal, we paid. Being sure the accounting department would rectify, we called after our pet was euthanized. We were told no. The collector/account rep said the bill was sent to the correct address. We offered to double the excess amount billed, if returned, and donate it to the SPCA. We put it in writing and gave them a week. We offered credentials of our support of stray animals through our regular Vet. Their error, which we paid for, the offer of a humanitarian compromise, their attitude of money first or your pet dies in the parking lot is what I will always remember about our treatment. read more

Wonderful experience all around. We brought our 8 year old poodle from 2 hours out of town to OVS on the recommendation of our local vet because of limping on her front right leg. Everyone at the front desk was very friendly and professional. We saw Zach Ricker. He was very professional and caring. We were prepared that we may need to do sedation/X-ray/CT etc to see if it was spine issue. He did a thorough exam and was able to rule out spine/neck problem and localized it to her elbow. We discussed options for X-rays or CT but he was very honest that it would not likely change treatment plan so we declined. We were just relieved that it wasn't some bigger issue. Well worth the 2 hour drive and the exam fee in my opinion. It seems like the negative reviews here are mostly related to costs/bills but come on folks, specialty vet care and testing is expensive! You have to decide what your pet is worth to you before going in. At least for us, they did not try to talk us into unnecessary testing! read more

Do NOT take your pet here! They show no urgency or compassion in treating your beloved pet. And they charge you an arm and leg. Ridiculous!! Here is my story: On Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, my daughter's beloved 14-year-old dog 'L D' ('Little Dog') had an accident at home and suffered a break on each side of his lower jaw. We brought him to OVS in West Tulsa a little before 9:00pm. He was in great pain from his broken jaw and had a major laceration in his mouth, with a lot of blood. We were taken to an exam room. At the outset, we asked that he be given a pain med. We were assured that, after some minimal admin stuff, he would be given a pain med shot. After waiting in the exam room without seeing anyone for about 40 minutes, we finally had two technicians come in to see us (first one and then the other), but the first tech only checked LD's vital signs and the 2nd only gathered information about him (what happened to him, were his vaccinations current, etc.). No one gave him anything for his pain, which we again asked for. Finally around 10:00pm the doctor/vet came in to see us. She looked at his jaw (from a distance) but couldn't really do an exam because it would have caused him too much pain. She said she would put together a treatment plan and get back. Still no pain medication for LD. About 10-15 minutes later, the 2nd technician came back in with a printed treatment plan (with a cost of $1000 to do x-rays and hold him overnight) that he asked us to sign. We asked him if he could give L D some pain medication. He didn't really respond to our request. We explained (again) that we needed to talk to the doctor/vet and get some information about his condition and his prospects before we could make a decision regarding his treatment plan. His age (14) made us concerned about his chances of recovering from any type of surgery to fix his broken jaw; as well, he had some dental problems that might make it more difficult to fix his broken jaw. At this point we were very uncertain as to whether we wanted to seek treatment for his broken jaw from a specialist on Monday morning, or whether it would be better to go ahead and put him to sleep. Still no pain meds for L D. The doctor came back 15-20 min. later, and we asked her again about his chances of recovery. Also whether she had any idea as to how much it might cost for surgery on his broken jaw. She said she was not an orthopedic or dental vet surgeon and that she didn't really have any idea as to what the cost would be or what his chances of recovery would be. Still no pain meds for L D. Without much information, we reluctantly decided to give L D minimal treatment (pain med and anti-inflammatory) and take him home to wait to go see Dr. Russell 1st thing Monday morning. They gave us a revised treatment plan for this, which we signed. Only then did L D get some pain medication, close to 2 hrs. after we brought him in. After further thought, we decided that we would like to go ahead and have L D x-rayed at OVS that evening to see how serious the jaw injury was. I think it was probably around 11:15pm when they took him back for x-rays. Around 11:45pm the doctor came back in and confirmed that he had a break on both sides of his jaw (which was not new information; this just confirmed what we already strongly suspected). We again asked about what his chances might be, and she once again declined to give us her opinion. We talked to a 3rd tech who brought him back from x-ray, and she was more helpful than anyone else had been in providing information to help us make this very difficult decision. We decided that, largely due to his age and the type of injury, he would probably have a tough time getting over the injury and would probably suffer a lot along the way. Plus the fact that it sounded like the cost of the surgery would be at least $3000 and probably more like $5000, which is a lot of money for us. We ended up deciding to have him put to sleep as the most humane way to handle this. After we made this decision, we asked for a few minutes to say our goodbyes. But again it took what seemed like an interminable time (probably more than 20 min.) before someone came back in to administer the put-to-sleep injections. During this period after my daughter had said her goodbyes and left the room, L D was still waking up from the x-ray anesthesia, and at one point started crying out in agony. His crying went on for 5-10 excruciating minutes before the 3rd technician came in and administered the put-to-sleep shots that put him out of his (and our) misery. Wish we could give them 0 stars!! Took our husky here to get treatment because she was so ill and couldn't stand, it was a Sat and our reg vet was closed. After the initial $90 charge just to be seen, they then informed me it would be $1,300 to keep her overnight to give her fluids, take blood, etc, not counting what it would cost AFTER they found out what was going on! I told them thanks, but no thanks, I'll call my reg vet and talk to him about it first. He does answer calls on Saturday's. So I left. Talked to my vet and he said that was ridiculous and to bring her to him and he would take care of her., on a Saturday! Then, to top it all off, this place, called the cops on me for refusing care for my pet!! Umm, I obviously am not neglecting my pet if I am seeking care for her! I just refuse to overpay! She is getting amazing care at our regular vet, who is doing the EXACT same thing this place was going to do, but a whole lot cheaper! If I was neglecting my pet, I never would have brought her in in the first place, I would have just let her die. This place is a joke and needs reported for bullying potential clientele. read more

These a**holes forced me to put my 2 & a half yo Dalmatian down bc I didn't have 3k to pay upfront for bladder stone surgery. So after HOURS of fighting for my dogs LIFE his bladder ruptured & I was forced to put him down. They are absolute scum in their quest for money. I don't say this lightly. I know vets have a tough job & make extremely tough decisions but they've "been burned" so they don't give a f*** about animals unless you're a rich boy. I just bought a house. That is the ONLY reason I couldn't pay for it. Heartless & their staff thinks they're somebodies so they were extremely cold & heartless. I'm glad some ppl (probably rich) have good experiences with these ppl but I was willing to put up so much collateral & they wouldn't even listen to me. They cost my dog his life. My heart is broken. Our Havanese girlie, Mari, was extremely sick over the Thanksgiving holidays. She was taken care of by such wonderful, caring, loving doctors, vet techs...actually everyone at OVS was great! They called us often with test results, care plan updates and answered our myriad of questions with great patience. They even suggested that we bring our Westie in with us when we visited Mari! How can we thank you enough for caring for our precious little girlie? She is doing SO well; she walked a mile in our neighborhood with me this morning! Our little Maltese mix was attacked by a bigger dog on a trip to Tulsa. The Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists did a great job making sure she was ok and fixing up her wounds. We were admitted quickly and she was able to come home after two days. We cannot thank them enough for taking such great care of our little girl. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!! I cannot express it enough. I will NEVER step foot in this location ever. They do NOT care about you or your pet. They take advantage of preying on desperation of pet owners and their need of service. We paid almost $2000 for our dog to be treated. Were were told that they will do an X-Ray, blood test, give him liquid nutrition since he hadn't eaten in over a week (we did take him to 3 other vets in our town no luck diagnosing him due to their limitations of equipment) and an IV for hydration. He stayed 2 nights and when we went to pick him up he was worse than when he went in! They never fed him the liquid nutrition and said if we wanted to do that it would be an additional $170! PLUS an additional 2 day stay at $140 per day (they charge per 12 hours) when we were told they were going to feed him. He NEVER was fed! Our dog was hunched over, barely breathing and nauseated. His bandage was on so tight around his leg where the IV was that his leg swelled up with fluid. They did call to inform us twice that we can have an endoscopy done for an additional $1700 to see if it was cancer. They have the ability to test for cancer screening through a blood test but somehow that wasn't offered to us. We got another recommendation for another vet which did a blood test and he found high levels of white blood cells and low protein levels and the test did confirm that it was lymphoma..CANCER!! Going to 5 different vets (3 recommended OVS) and spending over $3000 just to have to put my dog to sleep because of the lack of ability of Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists. Please do your homework before entering this place. If they talk you into unnecessary testing WALK OUT...you're the prey and they will pick you apart...vultures! read more

Absolutely terrible. These people ask for 1500-2000 for down payment and upfront. Staff was absolutely unprofessional. We had called ahead of time to notify our pet's arrival with details including name, breed, age, and their health concerns and when we arrive they have no idea we even notified ahead of time, like they were dumbfounded. Please listen to this honest piece of advice and do not take your beautiful pets to these thieves, as I do not stand alone, but alongside many other caring pet owners who has been treated this way by these disgusting beings. I don't usually leave reviews but if my review stops one person from taking their animal to OVS then it will be worth it. If I could leave no stars I would but that's not an option. My 3lb Chihuahua (Charlie) was having severe breathing problems and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure by another vet. They started him on heart meds and he started improving except he was very lethargic and off balance when he walked. They thought it was neurological. So, I took him to OVS because they were supposed to be specialists and have the best equipment. Dr. Nester didn't seem caring at all. He was very cold and matter-of-fact. He wanted to do an echocardiogram even though the other vet did one the week before. We agreed because we just wanted to do what ever we could to help Charlie. They told me he did NOT have heart disease and for me to take him off the heart medications. Nester said the echo ruled out heart disease but he still didn't know what was causing the breathing problems, balance, and lethargy issues. He wanted to do a CT Scan so we did. That also came back negative. So then he wanted to do a spinal tap which we of course did. That eventually came back negative too. While waiting for the results from the spinal tap we took him home and stopped the heart medications like Nester told us to do. They said the reason for him being off balance was a bulging disc in his neck. They prescribed Prednisolone and said he should start improving soon. After a few days his walking was improving a little. So things were looking up. Then all of a sudden his breathing problem came back a week after being off the heart meds. I took him back to OVS the same day. They immediately took Charlie and put him on oxygen in the back. Then they wanted to run more tests. At this point he's already had two sets of x-rays, CT Scan, 2 echocardiograms, and a spinal tap. What was left to do?? They wanted to do MORE x-rays with contrast, so we did it. Again, it was negative. Nobody knows what is wrong with my dog. They kept wanting to run more and more tests but all the tests came back negative. I was there for 6 hours that day just waiting to find out what was wrong with him. That evening he went into cardiac arrest and died. Throughout this whole ordeal I felt like all they cared about was money. I was willing to do anything to help Charlie so I didn't care about the money. Just so you know they won't do anything with your pet until they have their money up front. They bring out a bill before starting anything saying this is the lowest it will be and this is the highest it will be. Then you have to sign and take care of the bill before they even start doing anything with your pet. I have never seen anything like it. I honestly feel like they are totally in it for the money and care nothing about your pet. They could at least act like it's not all they care about. I spent $2900 on tests for Charlie with everything coming back negative but yet Charlie didn't make it and they can't tell me what was wrong. I took him off the heart meds like they told me to do and the breathing problem came back within a week. Now I'm left to wonder if I hadn't stopped the heart meds would Charlie still be here. I feel like I let Charlie down by going to OVS. I took Charlie to OVS because I thought I was getting the best care. However, it was the absolute worst advice and care he could have ever received. It was also the most callous and expensive care he could've received. I will never step foot in OVS again and I'm telling everyone I can about my experience. read more

My kitten just got home from a spay and laser declaw at OVS, and I will say, I couldn't have had abetter experience! Dr. Ricker was the surgeon and Dr. Cory Johnson was the vet in charge of follow up care. Dr. Ricker explained each procedure to me and made sure that I understood each one before I signed the informed consent. He also called me after surgery to update me on how it went as well as how my baby was doing. I work nights, but was told that I could call ANYTIME I wanted to check on her. The next morning, a technician called me to let me now how Eva did overnight and when I could come pick her up. When I arrived for discharge, follo up care and instructions were provided and explained to me in detail. I am most certainly impressed and would recommend these doctors as well as this facility to anyone and everyone! read more

WORST veterinarian office I've ever been to. I took my dog for an ACL repair surgery. The staff was not friendly and not helpful through the entire process. The paperwork I was handed at surgical consult was not clear. On day of surgery, when I had questions the tech referred me to talk to payment person. The payment person did not have answers and told me to ask the tech. No one took ownership of my concerns. Also, I was told I would receive a call when surgery began. Only received a call after surgery was completed. So I posted a negative google review and the dr was made aware of my post. When I discussed the issues directly with Dr. Rickner, he was defensive and offered no apology. He chose instead to bad mouth me in the medical record to my referring veterinarian and accused me of trying to use bad forms of payment on day of surgery even though he was paid in full! Very unprofessional behavior. I will never take my pets back to this place. read more
