Great folks, very "bowler friendly", helpful and informative. By far the best of the two bowling establishments in Olathe.

I bought a new ball from a different pro shop that didn't have time to drill it before they closed and referred me to here. I gave them a shot and I will never go back. Waited for two hours and my ball still wasn't drilled correctly. I get switch grips can be tricky but I've never had this experience anywhere else. They made me a slug to fit and said I could roll it that night and bring it back tomorrow to have another guy work on it. I did that. I brought one of my other balls to leave for measurements just incase. Told me he didn't need it. After I left a few hours went by and I was called and asked if I could bring one of my balls in the next 45 minutes before they closed. So after all that I go the next day to pick my balls back up and my new ball has two spots with a gap between the thumb slug and ball that I can fit a fingernail between there is a scuff on the ball near the thumb hole and there was glue residue left on my ball. I recommend you go anywhere else. read more

Walked in, asked for two hours. $61 total, this is a rundown spot so I figured it would be a little cheaper. Went to look for balls and can only find 10 and ups, I was with my girlfriend who usually bowls with a 7/8 but we couldn't find it. I went to the desk and asked where the lighter ones were and he pointed behind his desk. You would never know that these balls were there back there. A little heads up saying where they were when checking in would've been nice. As we bowled, no music was played on a Friday night at 9pm. I went to ask the desk and asked if they had any because it was just quiet and depressing. To which the front desk said "yeah, we have music. But we don't play it." I said "oh okay, we'll thank you." And walked away. I took it in a rude way but that could've been me, just not the response you expect. Then they turned on music and played maybe 3-4 songs of 2000s shit rock and then turned it off. As I'm writing this, we're sitting and finishing our pitcher of beer with no music and don't have any desire to bowl. One positive note, the bartender and cook were very sweet and the bartender even remembered my name when I went back up to close the tab out. Still wouldn't come back, only because of the front desk and how they apparently want to run this place. read more

I am not a bowler and will probably never go pro. I've been to several bowling alleys over the years and can say with my limited bowling experience that Olathe Lanes East is a decent place. We came on a Sunday night where 3 games and shoe rentals cost us $5 each. Again with very little bowling experience I can say that is still a great price for bowling. We had to show up early before the happy hour started at 8pm. I saw a few people get turned away because they came right at 8pm. Be sure to try the diner too. It's actually decent alley food. I had the loaded fries and am still thinking of how good they were. read more

Just celebrated my son's highschool graduation here. This was the perfect place! He has bowled here for years and always has a great time. The people are very helpful and kind. Very reasonable rates and some extras. The new game room is awesome as well as the pro-shop! All in all a great place to bowl anytime and an especially great pick for a party! read more

wonderful lanes with great cleanliness, i've bowled there for a year now and can't find a bowling alley better than this one. open bowling is a little tight, because of leagues but if you call up it's a lot easier to tell when to go there. i don't understand 2.5 stars for this place, i would rate it at least 4 stars. read more

It's a bowling alley. The place is old and you can really tell. But we honestly just go here for some cheap bowling alley kind of fun! I don't know what more you can expect. The food is okay, but again you're at a bowling alley. I did get the patty melt once and it was pretty good. But if you want to go to a low key, older bowling alley, this is your place. read more

Came to Olathe lanes to see our daughter bowl for school....upon arrival was charged $7 per person to just enter and watch only....beware they are not nice at all and only care about the money....suggest spend your money elsewhere...where they actually appreciate people...:if they go out of business I know why.... read more

For an older place, they keep their lanes pretty nice. Don't get me wrong, they could use a new carpet, some new tables and chairs, but the service there is amazing, food is always pretty good, and decent bar selection. They are great for leagues, and definitely cater to them. Hard to get an empty lane sometimes for non-league bowling, but I guess that just means they're great! read more

If you were to look at my profile you would probably notice I'll go to mini bowling alleys. I go to them for many reasons tournaments open bowling and I'm even a part of leagues in a couple of them. The most recent visit to Olathe East was to watch a bowling tournament that my other half was a part of. The staff is fairly friendly and the facility is pretty clean as well. The only draw back is the bathrooms could use a little update or a good deep clean. Other than that the facility is a nice one. They have a practice session that allows you to choose the Pins you want to shoot at. This allows bowlers to work on their spare shooting. read more

This bowling alley is down home fun! No frills fun for the whole family. We have had MANY birthday parties here and we've been to many open bowling times and had a great experience every time. Every party that we've celebrated here have been awesome and my party was well taken care of. Never had a complaint about any of our service or the atmosphere there. The arcade isn't great but it doesn't really matter because we are there to bowl, not play arcade games! read more

Very poor lanes we (a couple adults) went for Rock N Bowl so we could bowl for a few hours for 12 dollars and enjoy some drinks. We've done similar multiple other places and works well and has always been enjoyable. The ally itself is decently nice and drinks were up to par for bowling allies. That's where the good stops. We bought a soft pretzel and it was hard as a rock. We were placed next to a family with little kids who had a tendency to drift into our lane (needless to say is very dangerous if you've started a swing and they decide to run into your lane). We asked to switch to another lane. We were switched to a lane with small children right next to us again (4 years ish old). We tried to bowl another game and were unable to enjoy it as similar things happened. 4 children would all go together every time and some would walk over into our lane. Went and talked to the older man at the counter again, but his response was "this is a family bowling ally, what do you expect?". Quite frankly I expect to be able to bowl without being concerned about accidentally decapitating children with a bowling ball. He also told us "just ask them to stay out of your lane". All of which we did; multiple kids were sub 5 years old. I mentioned to the person at the desk that a way a lot of other allies I have bowled at do it is they try to put families with children next to each other rather than spreading them about among all the people who are over 10 and are old enough to be responsible bowlers. He just said it was a family bowling ally. When bowling there there were only 3 groups in the first 15 lanes as they were trying to limit the area they had to have open since they had so few people there. Yet when I asked if we could move down there was told that was not an option. They would rather be lazy then produce a safe, fun environment for people. My suggestion is to not be lazy, be organized, and actually make it is enjoyable for as many groups as possible whether that be by placing groups smartly, or by opening different lanes. Customer service was non-existent. Due to not be able to bowl safely we left after 2 short games and were there for under 1 hour even though we paid for 3. No offer of refund or anything related to that or even an apology or ownership of the poor handling of the situation. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I've had bowling. Once walked in, the guy at the front counter was very rude to us. After finally getting our labe paid for and our shoes, we got to bowl for about 30 minutes before our lane broke. This is understandable, this kind of stuff happens. However, after the lane being broken for about 45 minutes, when we went back to the guy at the desk to ask him what was going on, he blamed the lane being broken on us. After a little while longer, they refunded our money back. Then once the lane was working again, he asked for the money back! The lanes worked for about 10 minutes before breaking again. We finally spoke to another person that refunded our money again as we left and never plan on returning. The food was pretty good though! read more

Felt like bowling with my friends and was super excited to give this new bowling place a shot. Walked in and no one was at the front desk and waited there for 20 minutes. Finally, the old white guy walks and ask what he could do for us. I noticed he was a little odd and felt some weird vibes with him. He seemed as though he had just snorted a line of crack and just came out of his office after doing crack. We told him what we needed and he charged us double and completely ripped us off. I would highly recommend never giving this place a single cent of your money. read more

This place is garbage. I go in there, spend $40 dollars on food and drinks. Only for them to tell me they are closing 3HRS EARLY and we have to leave in 30 minutes. Only because they didnt think they were busy enough. Even though I had just called and asked about their hours and prices. I am extremely upset with this business and will never return. I recommend never going to this dirty, disrespectful location. Idk how you even consider yourself a business if you cant even follow the hours you have listed. I'd give you zero stars if I could. I have bowled league there for over 3 years and find the staff to be very friendly, helpful and professional. I have bowled all over the area and consider this bowling center to be one of the best now! I will continue to bowl there as long as I bowl. Their junior/college program is one of the best and the pro-shop is top rated with several others. This place promotes bowling, senior bowling and youth bowling to the max. Olathe Lanes East sets the standard as high as it gets. read more

Decent bowling alley. They have a nice pro shop and can order just about anything. Staff service is hit or miss. They have a lot of leagues available for league bowlers. Lanes are well kept and oiled for the most part. Arcade and birthday party room for the kids. Some of the equipment is old and outdated, but it works. read more

Why advertise open bowling hours when you don't follow your schedule? We went for the advertised Friday before 5pm open bowling hours, only to be told that all lanes were reserved for high school leagues. The person at the desk was less than polite. Not a very friendly environment. read more

I brought my grandson here today, 8/11/21 about 2:30 p.m. to bowl for his last day of summer before school starts. Billy was the person at the counter and he helped us and was helpful... up until I asked that we not be right beside someone. I explained we would like to be able to not wear his mask, since my grandson is not vaccinated and cannot be due to his age. He told us ok and that we were on lane 6. We went down to lane 6 and, right next to us on lane 7 was a large group of people! There were also people on lane 4 or 5. I went back up and requested a different lane and he acted put out. He was rude and very unprofessional. I, again, explained that I wanted to social distance for my grandson. He said that they don't social distance because they're all vaccinated. I explained that ,I too was vaccinated, however, my grandson wasn't and COULDN'T be because of his AGE. He told me we'd be fine! I told him WE DO social distance and I want another lane. He begrudgingly put us down on lane 26. It isn't like there wasn't room to social distance, there were over half of the lanes completely empty, he just was wanting to be rude and obnoxious. I told him he was being rude and that this is ridiculous because this is a professional business and the way he was acting was ridiculous. Needless to say, I DO NOT appreciate the way we were treated and will be letting everybody I know that bowls to take their business to Mission Bowl. If Billy had a problem with Covid or social distancing, he should have been able to maintain a business attitude and not take it out on us. It spoiled what should have been a fun, last day before school outing with my grandson. read more

This is a great place! Very clean, well-lit, music was at the right level, and the gentlemen running the place were extremely polite and helpful. Lots of families and groups of well-behaved teens playing-- definitely a family place to go on a Saturday afternoon. We decided to use bumpers midway through and they were happy to accommodate. Aside from trying to charge me the hourly price when it was cheaper to pay per game at the time, the staff were nice and attentive. Unlike AMF college lanes, they actually answer their phone! (How bout that) This place seems well maintained and unlike many bowling houses these days, the floors were pretty clean, at least where I was. The approaches weren't sticky and the Brunswick synthetic lanes seemed to be recently oiled. Price was reasonable, 3.25/gm which is about the most I will pay considering how much I bowl and how many games I will usually do in one sitting. Was worth the drive versus AMF college lanes that was much closer to me. read more

the service here was atrocious the man at the front kinda tall, grey hair was so rude it was unbelievable. we asked for an hour each on 2 different lanes, around 7:45, then he gave us an hour on 2 lanes (30 each) becuase he wanted to leave earlier, when we tried to get more time he told us we had to buy all the time upfront which is just absurd. 0/10 reccomend going here especially if ur looking to have a good time with ur friends or family. read more

Staff was definitely a MISS the day we went. We got there as they opened and had to listen to the guy behind the counter moan about how he didn't want to be there and should have locked the doors and gone home. I WISH HE HAD!. We had to ask to be helped and we asked for two games on two lanes. He gave us two games on one lane but not the other and when we asked him about it he was not very nice. This alley does not honor the hours they post. The staff behind the bowling counter are the rudest people I have come across in a long time. The "pro shop" gentleman is rude and lazy. I have never seen a business try to turn customer's away more than this place. The staff behind the food counter/bar are fantastic, very friendly and helpful, but the rest of the place is horrible. Several times paid to bowl until 11:00, only to be told they were closing early. Waste of money!! read more

Absolutely terrible service here. Started when I first walked up to pay and was blatantly ignored while the man just stood behind the desk. Ended by them ending our 3 hour bowling session 9 minutes early and turning the lanes off while the machine still had my ball. When I went to the desk asked them to turn the machine back on so my ball would come back, the same guy told me he wouldn't. After telling him that wasn't an option and arguing back and forth, he finally turned it on a couple minutes later. Not sure about his thought process here, but I sure as hell wasn't leaving without my $120 ball. Just trying to save a few from having the same experience I had. read more

This bowling facility has diminished greatly in their services. The snack bar help forgets your request for food and drinks. the lanes break down or have issues frequently (6 out 7 weeks for our team on our league on Tuesday night) and when asked for the approach to be cleaned before someone sticks and falls we were ignored twice and the third time sent someone who did not know what they were doing so we ended up doing it ourselves. This is poor management and supervision. I hope it gets better for the rest of the year but I highly doubt it. I hope others don't have the same experience. read more

Went for open bowl on a Saturday evening after league had ended. Arrived about 830 and went to the counter, the two men were very rude and asked if we were someone else and we said no and they replied "well that's who we are looking for" and ignored us. I said do we need our name on a list or something? He said yeah what's your name? So we gave it and waited a good 15 minutes for a lane even though they weren't very busy and there were plenty of open lanes. We paid for an hour but they told us we had to be done at 930 because of cosmic bowling. So we started about 850 and got one full game in and we're almost done with our second before they shut it off. Also the staff at the snack bar was very rude and the food was gross and hard as a rock. I will not be returning here. read more

i wish i could give this place 0 stars!!! i went bowling with my friends and when we got there we were greeted by this man who did not seem very friendly. we came a bit before 8:00 and assumed we could bowl until 9 when the alley closed. we asked for 1 hour and he said since they closed at 9 we would have to pay all up front. we thought that was fine so we paid $40 for 2 lanes. we get 15 min into playing and we realize we only have 15 minutes left to bowl. we asked the worker who checked us out and he said he split the time even though we specifically asked for 1 hour. when we asked to add more time he said he already told us that we had to pay up front, so he can't add more time. because he was so adamant about reminding my friends and i that they closed at 9, i feel as though he did this to get out of working until close. after finishing bowling the lady cleaning up asked my group of friends to help but away the bowling balls like we were a burden to them... not impressed with this place and i would recommend going somewhere nicer like main event. not worth it at all!!!! read more
