The kids and I stopped here for an early luinch on the way home from a 3-day camping trip at Guadalupe River SP. After 3 nights of smelling campfire, the bbq craving was full on. The environment is really cool, very well designed. Even the rest rooms are great. Loved the rustic but classy vibe to everything. We really enjoyed the food we had, brisket, ribs and sausage. The kids appreciated that the sausage was not at all peppery like some can be, but it did have tons of flavor. The brisket was tender, moist and smokey. Ribs were well seasoned, off-the-bone just the right way, and delicious. At the pickel/onion/bread station, they have some great marinated onions with black pepper. I saw lots of people getting sandwiches, perhaps due to lunch time of our visit, and I think I'll get one too if my next visit is around lunch time, they looked great! Saw all the great reviews and decided to try this place. Ordered the sliced brisket sandwich and potato salad. The brisket was dry and flavorless. The potato salad was the same. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the Bbq sauce was very weak. Maybe they were just having a bad day. The restaurant only had one table occupied with a few people eating at 1230. Drove all the way from san antonio and they would even serve me to go food because they had a party,,, it's a Friday night during regular business hours and no food for customers that drive from an hour away! I really feel like they could of taken care of us but instead the manager closed the door and just said sorry after I explained how far we drove.Super disappointed and I own a salon in san antonio with all 5 star reviews AK Lounge and I can't believe this happened,their food may be good but management sure isn't! I even called to talk to the manager to see if they would reconsider and still a no go! We stopped here before to get full before drinking lots of beer at Real Ale. I judge a BBQ joint off their brisket and their brisket was spot on. We ordered half normal brisket and half brisket tips and it was great. I left no morsel of chicken on the half chicken order. It was super tender. The jalepano sausages were tasty too. Onions, pickels and bread are free. Their BBQ sauce was a little weak but a lot of great BBQ joints in Texas have soso suaces. Fill your belly here before going to Real Ale. read more

Old 300 BBQ is dynamite! From the old school store feel to the friendly staff. As cool as the store is the BBQ is the real deal. The brisket was tender and not dried out. Be aware that the BBQ stuffed potato does not include brisket but instead is made of their. "Mystery Meat" with BBQ sauce. My husband and I ordered this and specified brisket as our meat and the cashier didn't bother to tell us it was different. This only matters because my husband is gluten intolerant and the sauce sometimes includes some ingredient that is not wheat free. The young lady who brought out the order said it included pork as well. The food was good, but we won't know for a few hours whether there was any problem with the sauce. I would have loved to have tried the brisket but we have lots of bbq places around Austin so no big deal. read more

Have been here a number of times, enjoy it. Glad it's in Blanco, and plan to go much more often when I finish my home's construction. Food really is good. One thing I'd note, though, is I've had good pickles and was very disappointed by the flavor of the pickles - took one bite and tossed it aside. Terrible, same toxic sour you get out of any jar in the grocery store. Only a few great places have great pickles, usually in a deli, and this place could benefit by getting a good pickle (add garlic, less vinegar). The only store-bought pickle that starts to come close to a good deli pickle is Boar's Head Kosher Dill, but that's even when i dump out half the vinegar water, fill up with clear water, and add two cloves of crushed garlic and let it sit for a week or two. If Old 300 got a good pickle, it would be fabulous and quite the draw. read more

I was back again on 08/31/14 and gee, this place is GREAT. My friend and I shared a plate of ribs and sliced beef. We also shared the creamed corn, potato salad and an appetizer of deviled eggs. The eggs were delicious. We took some home. The creamed corn and salad were just right. But the BBQ was really good and flavorful. Great stop for lunch. Definitely recommend the Akaushi Rib (only on Sundays) - so tender and delicious. Also the "all you can eat pinto beans" were great. LOVED the pickled white onions. We had been to the LBJ Ranch and were hungry for work. We asked one of the employees where was the best barbecue place and they recommended the 300. We went and enjoyed it so much. The food was great! The whole experience was so fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a good place for brisket and sausages. The jalapeno sausages are not spicy, but they're well flavored. The brisk is tender and smoky. Both pair well with their delicious potato salad and ham flavored green beans. Even the pickles and pickled onions complement the meal well. Skip the half chicken. Five stars for the pork ribs as they were fantastic. Perfectly cooked with a nice slightly salty rub. Definitely recommend them. The sliced brisket was also very good, but not as good as the pork ribs. Nicely smoked but not quite as flavorful as some other BBQ joints in the hill country. The potato salad and creamed corn were both good. The pinto beans were good and peppery. Drop in a few sliced jalapeños and they are fantastic. Also, beans are all you can eat. The Spicy Texas BBQ sauce was best for the meats in my opinion. Most menu items are a la carte. Order your meat by weight and pick sides separately. They have sandwich options as well. Prices are very reasonable and they seem to give a little more meat than what you actually order. I ordered 1/3 lb of sliced brisket and it seemed a little closer to 1/2 lb. Well it may be the only bbq I've had in Texas but I can say it's the best bbq of my life. Maybe i need to get to Texas more often. The experience of watching the chef pull the slab of meat out of the smoker? Holding bin? And slice portions off to order seemed really authentic. The Chuck Norris was tender and flavorful and ginormous. A really good value for $10. Hubby got the signature brisket which was off the hook tasty. The house spicy bbq sauce was great. The potato salad was solid. The peach cobbler had great caramelization to it. The staff were friendly but not fake and seemed to run like a well oiled machine. I was just passing through Blanco and discovered Old 300 BBQ. The brisket was tender, juicy and very tasty. Unlike many other bbq places it was not overcooked and dry. The pinto beans and coleslaw were excellent. The service was friendly and prompt but I dined Wednesday around 1630. I did not try other menu items but my food was excellent. Old 300 continues the Texas tradition of only serving tasteless mass produced white bread which is my only complaint. Prices are competitive with Black's bbq but I like the Old 300 brisket and beans better. read more

Since the virus pandemic was still in full swing, we placed our order by phone once we had arrived at the restaurant. The Old 300 Staff could not have been more accommodating, delivering our food straight to our car. We ordered brisket, pork loin, chicken, and turkey for our meats - and potato salad and cole slaw sides. It was all FANTASTIC! We ordered enough for several meals, as we could eat Old 300 BBQ every day of the week! The chicken was moist, perfectly seasoned and fell-off-the-bone tender. The brisket had the most amazing flavor and ultra, ultra tender! I cannot say enough great things about this place! If I could give it 10 stars, I would! Stopped in after hiking. We try to make it a point to always eat somewhere we do not have locally. Went in and got 2 sausage sandwiches to go with a side of avocado wedges and cobbler. At first I saw the price of $8 per sandwich and freaked out. Until we got the sandwiches. Basically a full hoagie roll with about 4 layers of sausage each. Tried the sweet and hot sauce and it was fantastic. Fried avocado wedges are outstanding. Peach cobbler again, outstanding. Next time we will probably split a sandwich but no complaints. :).
