This is the best tuna salad sandwich in all of Vermont and my life. It is at the 170 year-old Old Brick Store in Charlotte (pronounced Cha'-lot). Focaccia with great tasty holes, a good sprinkle of flaky salt, and a rich, crunchy olive oil bottom crust. The arugula is pre-mixed with a vinaigrette. The tuna is sustainably harvested. And avocado holding the salad to the top crust. I am in love. I won't even mention the fudgy double chocolate brownies with sea salt or the incredible lemon ginger puff pastry squiggles or the sumptuous toffee cookies. Thank goodness I don't live full time close to here! read more

Every time I come here, it's an opportunity to practice restraint. Because I want a breakfast sammich on a fresh english muffin, and a breakfast burrito w/cilantro sauce, then one of each huge crispy chewy cookie, & weighty fudgy brownie. Then come lunchtime, give me all of the perfectly pressed sammiches! And I'll sip a matcha or Earl Grey latte while I browse, & try not to buy all the Joeson skincare, the Everyday Oils, the Barrel & Brine spices, & the beautiful beeswax candles. Thankfully I don't drink because the wine selections look impressive. My current fave things are: Sausage & egg on english muffin Hot VT Toastie Turkey Club Toffee cookie Last Resort Farm ginger sizzle canned fizzy drink in the cold case But give me some time to work my way thru the menu. This place is fantastic. A useful local shop that has lots of handy things you need, Hot food, sriracha, tequila, soap, ice cream, kiwi pie mayo, baked goods....... And of course; Coffee. They also have various eclectic gift choices and LP record albums. It's a great place to buy a bottle of old crow but also it makes a great place for a day date... or can be a nice place to have a meeting with a client at the table... it's a nice place to meet people and talk. A fast evolving community center that feels light and friendly with an easy open ambiance. My fiancé and I sometimes sneak in to warm up with soup after playing with our horse in the snow. read more

Had the pleasure of going twice to this historic spot. First time, had an incredibly delicious Turkey Panini with smoked bacon, on fantastic bread. The next morning, stopped by for their famous breakfast sandwich (I had egg, sausage and cheddar). Sooooo good. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and vibe. I'm really glad my friend (a former local) suggested this place! The food and coffee were delicious. I got the McBrick and an iced coffee and everything was so good that we came back the next day and I ordered the same thing. On our first visit we had to ring the service bell twice to get someone's attention but once the young woman working acknowledged us she was super friendly and apologized for our wait. My friend and I split a turnover on our second visit and it was filled with some kind of peach or strawberry jam and was so flaky and yummy. Definitely a popular place with the locals. I could see people sitting outside chatting for hours if it wasn't COVID times. I'm glad places like this are still around! read more

I ordered a bacon lettuce cheese sandwich. I ordered extra bacon and extra crispy bacon. Salt and pepper. I specifically said no tomato. They asked if I wanted it grilled. I said NO. I was given a soggy grilled lack of STRETCHY bacon with tomato sandwich. No salt and pepper. I had to go back to the window 5 times and it was still wrong. I'll never go back. I tried emailing them about it after they offered me a cookie to rectify it. I don't want cookies. I want my order correct. read more

This place is a MUST visit while in the Charlotte area (or worth the drive from anywhere!). They bake the most delicious breakfast pastries- but get there early because they sell fast. The Apple (or really any flavor) turnovers are phenomenal! My most recent buys here were the strawberry turnovers and the breakfast burrito- we ate them so fast we forgot pics! Staff is friendly, too, and the store has an old-timey country feel with big wooden benches in the front porch. read more

I really wanted to love this place and was completely convinced that I would. It's local to me but I had never been there before tonight. They say that customer service can make or break an establishment, and in this case that's what broke it. Went in there around 6:20pm. There was one man who appeared to be working. He was behind the deli counter and talking to a couple who seemed to be from out of the area. We wanted food so we walked directly over to the deli and waited about five minutes, but the people never stopped talking. We then took the small dry-erase cards that are used for ordering food, and filled in our orders. This was done in full view and literally right in front of all who were present. Inches away from them. We waited another five minutes until the couple who were there walked over to the cash register with the clerk in order to pay for their items. After the previous customers left, the clerk asked if he could help us. We gave him our food orders. He then informed us that the deli closed at 6:00. The clerk could have stopped us at any time and told us that the deli was closed, but he didn't. It's impossible for him not to have known that we were there for food. We were in a big hurry to get to an event at 7pm and we wasted a total of about fifteen minutes waiting for nonexistent customer service. Nobody in my family will ever visit this store again and we will be sure to spread the word about how little they care about their customers. read more

this is the old general store. 50 years ago it was and I.G.A grocery store. nowadays it's serves up custom made sandwiches on Klingers bakery bread, and stocks a few staples at Convenience store prices. frequently they have problems with orders of sandwiches so it is not a quick stop to get a sandwich or Panini ; and it took35 minutes to get a panini and they weren't even busy! they have a great selection of wines and they also have a pizza oven! Cute country store right off of Route 7. Definitely worth a stop if you are in need of refreshment or food near Charlotte enroute to/from Burlington. The sandwiches and prepared foods are post on a board as you walk in and your order on a slip of paper. They have a wide selection of drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic) as well as a small selection of crafts, local fresh produce and grocery items. The turkey, bacon, cheddar and onions was local, fresh and delicious. The cookies are the size of your head and are tasty as well. The only reason I did not give five stars is they were out of two items on the menu by (1230 on a Friday) as well as avocado. Our two sandwiches took 15+ minutes to prepare though the place was very busy. read more

Really annoyed- my husband bought me a $5 lake Champlain chocolate bar from here only to get home and find out that the whole chocolate bar "bloomed" (it had the white film on it due to improper conditions). The store is too far to drive just to return a chocolate bar! Not pleased. read more

Love, love, love this place! Other than the Shelburne Market, this was the only place we could find organic, clean food in the area. Liked sesame noodles and cider smoothies. we stopped here after going over the ferry from Essex NY and are glad we did - the smoothies are great, the pasta salad were nice and fresh and the sandwiches perfect and just the right size - we got the thai peanut wrap and the caprice wrap and my girls shared the pasta salad and a grilled cheese. The big table inside was great for the girls to watch them work and they even had outdoor seating.
