We got married at Old Brown House this past June and it was absolutely amazing. The space is genuinely gorgeous but Tessie and Dan are what make this place truly special. They put together a lovely punch party spread for our guests, hit every music cue perfectly, and performed a beautiful ceremony in the outdoor chapel that was heartfelt and personal. They handled everything, right down to filing the license paperwork, so we could just be present and enjoy the day. If you're looking for a small wedding with a lot of heart, this is the place. A WAY overdue review here... But what a REMARKABLY SENSATIONAL experience the Old Brown House provided to my wife and me! Tess and Dan are two absolutely genuine, loving, and caring people that went well above and beyond to guarantee my wife and I the type of ceremony we had only intended! A very close, intimate, and small ceremony amongst our closest friends and family including our son (our little terrier mix Pazuzu) was all that we wanted, and Tess and Dan more than delivered. From the beautiful aesthetic of the house inside and out based on all of the love, passion, and hard work that they themselves put into consisting of all the woodwork, metal crafting, and landscaping, to how genuinely accommodating both Tess and Dan were and are. Though small and intimate was the type of ceremony my wife and I were going for, our party of invitees was rather large. Because of this, both the inside chapel and outside barn was unable to accommodate the size of our party in one ceremony. Instead, Tess and Dan worked with us and decided to offer us to have two back-to-back ceremonies! Something they had never done before! One for our friends inside, and the other for our families outside; and the turnout was absolutely AMAZING, and we could not have asked for anything more! If a Vegas style elopement or micro-wedding is what you have in mind, do not waste the opportunity on having it here at the Old Brown House. Because this is not your typical, boring, outdated, and unfashionable setting. We had our ceremony and pre-party package at old brown house and were so happy with how everything went. The ambiance is funky, warm, and celebratory -- all of our guests LOVED it as much as we did! Tessie and Dan were wonderful to work with and helped us along the way, answering all of our questions as we became increasingly frantic with planning! They were more than open to having our dads play music together before the ceremony, which was important to us. Dan's officiating was also beautiful. Truly an absolutely beautiful and magical place. The owners go above and beyond to make your wedding day feel special, calm, and memorable. We opted for the punch party and indoor wedding chapel. They included drinks and snacks reflective of my husband's culture!! This little personal touch was unexpected but so beyond meaningful and sweet. Just one example of how they really went above and beyond to make the day special. Further, everywhere on the property makes for an excellent picture backdrop and the prices are very reasonable. For the last year, my husband and I had debated about renewing our vows for our 25th wedding anniversary. Every venue was way out of budget and not at all a reflection of who we are. Then, in June, I read an article about how a couple, who used to offer free weddings at Burning Man, had converted an old brown house into a wedding chapel during the pandemic. This couple was now offering micro weddings at a crazy affordable price. I reached out to them to share my own (very low-budget) wedding story and inquire about a vow renewal service but did not expect much in return. I was wrong. Dan and Tessy are simply loving people. When we met to chat about booking with them, I immediately felt at home. The decor is old-timey with muted tones and is absolutely beautiful. We chatted for over an hour, but it felt like minutes. They gave us a tour and showed us the bridal suite that is filled with dresses that can be borrowed for the service. All the while, we were followed around by Little Man and Pickles, two of the sweetest dogs I have met outside my own home (because my dogs are the best). The day of our renewal was everything I had hoped it would be and more! Tessy and Dan were so welcoming and accommodating. When my 9-year-old asked if there were snacks beside what was provided, Tessy dug around in the freezer and made him mini corndogs! She was nicer to my kids than I am sometimes; if I had heard his request, I would have lovingly said, "Suck it up, buttercup; enjoy what was provided." They were patient and kind and did not rush us in any way to get started or get out of their way. When Tessy saw we had my little nieces in attendance, she immediately pulled out flower girl baskets. Although the little ones were not interested, my ll- and 12- year old sons were more than happy to fill the roles and were the best flower boys I've ever seen. After the ceremony, Tessy and Dan easily chatted with everyone in attendance and truly felt like they were part of the family. Dan and Tessy operate Old Brown House out of love. They love their house, what they do, and the people they are serving. I wish Dan and Tessy were my friends in real life. I might have another service of some kind just to hang with them again. read more

Every detail, from the metal sculptures to the reclaimed wood chapel (complete with stained glass!) has been lovingly crafted by hand. It's truly stunning! Plus, the owners, Tess and Dan, have a genuine interest in helping you create a ceremony that is personal and meaningful. You can go as traditional or non-traditional as you want. Wow. Where to even start. My husband and I wanted a micro wedding with all the regular fixings and old brown house satisfied our appetite. We initially saw it advertised as Vegas style weddings, which was not exactly what we were looking for, but we saw the photos and we knew this was exactly what we were looking for. when we sat with the artists, we knew it was the perfect venue for the small wedding we wanted that still required lots of planning. I would call our wedding a micro traditional wedding if I were to label it. We wanted the bells and whistles and only close family. Intimacy was important to us while we shared the most sacred thoughts. Dan and tess, the owners are literally amazing. They are so good at what they do, we barely had to coordinate with them and we had the wedding of our dreams. They took such good care of us and our family, and they helped with every little detail they could. They were the coordinators/ fairy god people. The art(home) inside is amazing and is all custom made by the owners. And they are so fun!! They have everything you need, even if you cannot afford a dress, they have an entire room of thifted dresses in many sizes to borrow. If you planned all or most of the details like we did, they do not even need to be instructed on details, they already know what to do. If they plan quickly and perhaps right before, like ours, do not be alarmed! They will NOT let you down on your special day. They are pros. They literally blew our minds seeing them in action, their passion for weddings and love, and their excellence in what they do. Tess and Dan also shared their outlook and experience with love and marriage before our marriage, and this sacred guidance has been a blessing in our lives. Our love has flourished since meeting these two magical people. Tess and Dan will never tell you what to think, they will just show you who they are and if you're lucky enough, you will find a teaching in just meeting them. They really are magical people. My husband and I had the best day out our lives.
