This cemetery is also very different from the Lakeview cemetery. Virtually all of the graves here are cast concrete graves with an affixed marble plaque, most of which are from the 1920's-50's. Sadly, this cemetery appears to have suffered the ravages of hurricanes and time because many of the headstones are toppled, broken or just missing. In contrast, the Congregation Beth Jacob cemetery (see separate review) next to it is immaculately maintained. As you head south through the cemetery, you then enter the Memorial cemetery with more modern granite headstones and recent burials. There are service members intered in the municipal section that date back to the confederate war. It's clear that some effort has been made to improve the cemetery, but its state of disrepair is almost beyond fixing.

If you want your baby buried in the garden of the innocent you only can have a flat headstone. They can take a few minutes out of their day when they mow over the grave over the headstones and put the flowers back on the baby's Graves. You go out there now and the grass is entirely dead where the babies are buried. It's called The garden of Innocence. They don't even water the grass. I paid a lot of money for my daughter's hand-painted ceramic picture for her headstone. Very early on when she died the lawn mower went over and put a huge deep scratch through the middle and they don't care. They're like too bad too sad what do you want from us? I would like you to perhaps water the grass at least and put the babies flowers back on their graves!!! Have some dignity & some compassion for these parents. I have 2 daughters buried in the garden of Innocence. The area is very small so please don't make a reply and say the area is just so huge there's no way it would take hours to put the flowers back because that's b*******.. I know it's asking for too much to them think about the people there as opposed to just making the money.

I stopped by as I usually do around Christmas to pay respects to most of my family buried here. I was presently surprised to find two wreaths on my veteran uncle's headstones. Probably, the VFW did this, but thanks to Galveston Memorial for allowing this to happen, and having/ keeping a well manicured park. I'm gonna hold off on selling the plot, and relocating.

There was seven recorded graves before 1900. They were the descendants of the Simpton's, Schrieber's, Clinton's and Megg's. In the early 1900 the recorded family graves are Johnson's, Lindner's, Langham and Shaw. There are some unknown names for grave site located in the cemetery. In 1994 Jane Ewing located and record all graves. 1972 1.76 acres and in 1993 1.33 acres was donated by the Jeffery Family. In 2011 the Andrew Johnson family donated 0.36 acres. The cemetery is free of charge for the residents of Port Bolivar and their families. The cemetery is maintained by donations and volunteers. There is also the newer B'Nai Israel cemetery on the corner (see separate review) which may have been added next to this cemetery because there is little space left here. On the other side is the Serbian orthodox cemetery. This cemetery is very well laid out and orderly and there is not one single damaged or toppled headstone. It has been very well taken care of over the many decades that it has been here. The oldest head stone I could find was from 1907, nothing from the 1800s. Towards the very back of the cemetery, there is still room enough for a few dozen more burials. It was there. I found the most recently interred person from 2021. As you move away from the main body of the cemetery, there are additional graves located off to the side. If you don't mind the noise of the traffic, it looks like there's still space for sale.
