First time trying Old Chicago, but I had heard good things about it from others I was with. The location is good, the building is nice, restaurant seemed clean. Service was a bit slow, but waitress was nice. Buffalo chicken rolls appetizer was good, but needed more chicken. My main dish was the italian sausage sub and it was overcooked (both bread and meat) and rather bland. The fries were good though! My friend had the burger and reported it was overdone and dry. The food was staggered delivery with a delay in salads arriving oddly. I would be willing to try this restaurant again, but would order other items to see if any better! read more

Excellent bar restaurant which has opened in downtown Vincennes in the old downtown theatre. A tremendous re-use of historic space. Food was good - service was good. I had a salad, mozzarella and pretzel sticks. They also have a nice range of pizzas on the menu (which appears to be their main thing) but I wasn't in the mood for that this afternoon. Would highly recommend that you give this place a shot! If I lived in the area, I would definitely be back. read more

Coming from outside Chicago, I was highly skeptical of "Old Chicago". But... This place is HUGE! Bar seats, booth seats, floor tables galore. I had potentially the best side salad ($4.95) I've ever had. Ranch was made in house, mixed greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber, herbed croutons... I almost licked the bowl clean! Followed up with twisted tenders app. Oh my! Real white chicken pieces, juicy, in a superb crispy coating. And epic ranch dipping sauce. Partner had a yummy Italian melt. Fresh veggies and crisp bread roll. Initial sever hadn't officially clocked in when we were seated, but passed on our drink orders to Danielle, our server. I love to try local favorites and this was great! We stopped in for lunch before taking a tour of Vincennes University. The staff was friendly and attentive & the restaurant was clean We started with Italian Nachos...layered with sausage, pepperoni, cheese & peppers served with marinara & basil, it was delicious. We both had the pizza/salad lunch special. The salads were fresh, crisp and huge! I had the thin and crispy pineapple and mushroom & it was very good. I've been here twice, both times the service was not good, staff walking around and leave you wandering when you will be waited on.. the first time I ordered a personal pizza and when it finally arrived the waitress explained they accidentally made a large pizza instead but wouldn't charge me for the difference. That time the pizza was good. My 2nd visit just yesterday I ordered the large pizza and what was brought out didn't come close to fitting the size of the pan. When I said to the waitress I ordered the large she stated that is the large and she walked away. I snapped a picture, then later the waitress asked how everything was and I explained I'm still upset at the size of the pizza and said it doesn't even come to the edges of the pan. She stated she would get the manager. Again finally the manager arrived and I showed her the picture, she said nope that's right. All of our large pizzas look like that. I explained I had been there before and the large did not look like this and she "promised " the dough is always the same and that is what the large looks like. She did not care that I was upset and she did nothing to make my visit any better.. I then looked up the website and compared pictures of pizzas offered and none of them looked like what I was served... my first time there the food was good and service was bad, 2nd time there food and service was bad.. I can not recommend this place to anyone and am upset this restaurant that is high priced feels it can be so dismissive to their patrons when clearly there is a problem. The building is really nice, unique and pretty cool. It was an old theater that is now a pizza place. It definitely has enough room for any size party and even has outdoor seating. There are plenty of TVs around so you can enjoy watching many games while eating or drinking. It does have a big bar you can set at or even at a high top or in a booth. I will say though the majority of the staff was not friendly and took forever for anyone to even acknowledge you. The food was ok and did have decent portion sizes. The place hardly had anyone in it and the staff spent most of the time hanging out with each other rather than talking care of customers. As cool as the establishment is and even with a great location, I'm not sure if I would go back mainly because of the audited of the staff that day. Maybe they were just having a bad day and were short staffed. Others might enjoy it and have a better experience than I did so don't let my opinion steer you 100% away. Potential patrons need to be warned that this is not the place to go in Vincennes!!!!!! We took our stepson and daughter-in-law to Old Chicago for their anniversary since everyone likes pizza and pasta. After being seated and waiting for over 10 minutes with no waitress in sight, my husband and stepson decided to go up to the bar, where the only visible employees were stationed, to ask if there was a waitress available. When they inquired where the wait staff was, one of the bartenders dismissed them, replying, "We're bartenders." Feeling totally insulted, my husband and stepson came back to our table prepared to leave, but immediately a waitress appeared, apologized for the bartender's attitude, and as a defense, said, "Don't feel bad, she's rude to everyone!" We proceeded to order our food, which consisted of an appetizer, pasta for our stepson and daughter-in-law, and calzone for my husband and me to split. When our food came, everything finally seemed in order, but about five minutes after he'd started to eat his pasta carbonara, my stepson pulled out of it what looked like a plastic worm. He unfolded it and discovered that it was actually a twisted-up piece of plastic which looked like it had originally been used to store the chicken pieces for the pasta!!!!!! We couldn't believe our eyes and immediately reported it to the waitress, who sent the manager over. We told her of our unhappiness with our overall experience, and she offered to make another pasta for our stepson. Subsequently another pasta was made, and his original dish was comped from the menu, but we left feeling very dejected and vowed that this visit would be our last sojourn to Old Chicago. This was my second time here and it was not the best. first it took at least over an hour to get our food. second i got a pizza that came out dried and burnt so i ended up getting spaghetti which was okay at the least. the setting was good though so i reccomend not getting the pizza other than that it was good. read more

I have been going for awhile. The first time I went I had to wait for a long time for my food and it was ok.The next couple times I went and I think it came a little quicker by I found a item I liked. The menu is not that diverse. It really only has pizza and bar food. You don't have to stick to a standard pizza from the menu you can build your own with quite a bit to choose from for toppings, bread, sauce . So the most recent times I have been I have really liked it because I know what I want. I do not drink but I have herd the have a nice bar section. Went there last night with my wife. We had been to another location in Little Rock, AR and loved it so we decided to take a chance. The restaurant is in an old remodeled movie theater that was near and dear to our hearts from childhood. We were seated very quickly even though they appeared to be VERY busy. Our server, Whitney, was very friendly and pleasant. She was swamped because there was also a large birthday party close to us. Our appetizer, fried pickles, arrived quickly and was piping hot. DELICIOUS!!! I ordered a personal pizza and my wife had the fish and chips. Food arrived fairly quickly considering the crowd. Both of our dishes were absolutely great! Served hot, great presentation, generous portions and perfectly prepared. Nothing to complain about in any way shape or form with our food. The service was just okay but that was because our server was unreasonably buried with customers. Our only complaint was with the overall ambiance. They had live music in the bar area and it was easily heard throughout the entire restaurant. The music was okay but what made it bad was the house music was playing through the main system as well. This quickly became an annoying clash of musical styles and genres in our ears. Other than the music issue and our server being overloaded our experience was very good. Excellent service, excellent beer, excellent food! Our waitress was nice and efficiently had our appetizers and food to us. Another lady brought beers to the table in an efficient manner. If you're a beer fan and want to try new flavors this is the best I've found in the area thus far. We also had the pretzels and cheese as an appetizer and an ale crust pizza with Alfredo sauce and pepperoni and sausage. The quality of the food was outstanding! Top to bottom I highly recommend this place. It is nice and some may even say "fancy" but the overall feel is casual. Prices were as expected. The food is great. I have tried several different appetizers and have never been disappointed. The pizza is good but the sauce is a little too sweat for my taste. That being said they have a great selection of beer and everyone should try their New Holland's dragons milk. The only complaint I have is the service there are packs of three to five waiters and waitresses standing around everywhere but they never come to check on you. Don't bother with the spinach artichoke dip. It looked so good on a review, I was excited to get it, but, after 37 minutes, we discovered it was disgusting. It was oily, separated, way too salty, and cold. My husband got pizza. And it is much smaller than one would expect. The prices, again are exuberant. He got mushrooms and peppers. It was really actually good. I got the cajun chicken salad. It was chicken and lettuce. It didn't have any of the other stuff. I did request no cheese or dressing. I asked if I could have wing sauce instead. Which they did, for a charge, which I did expect, and that's alright. The lettuce was brown in more spots than one. The chicken was very overcooked.
