A new restaurant to Sioux City, Old Chicago (http://www.oldchicago.com/) located in Lakeport Commons is Sioux Cities new hot spot. With a HUGE beer selection (Over 100 different beers) and amazing specials this new restaurant has the customers rolling in! We visited Old Chicago on our last trip to Sioux City, we were told the wait would be 30-40 minutes and we were happily surprised when our buzzer went off in 20 minutes. We started our night off with their beer selection- we tried a German beer, as well as a mixed beer, Blue Moon & Peach Cider. Tom enjoys the strong flavor of German beers and I loved the mixture of Blue Moon and Cider - we were very impressed by the beer selection, it was nice to see a bar or restaurant in Sioux City offering something more than Bud Light. It's about time Sioux City branches out with their beer selection and beer combinations! While I am happy to see a new restaurant in Sioux City offering beer selection and specials I am unsure how they will do over time. The food seemed to be on the high end- Specialty pizza is not a fad in the Mid-West like it is on the East Coast especially with the high prices. $13 for a 8 inch personal pan pizza is very high, and $24 for a 14 inch pizza is going to be hard to sell in Sioux City! While the pizza was good, it was not worth the cost. Service was great and fast, Beer selection was the best part! I will be anxious to see how this keeps up in Sioux City! read more

The Old Chicago in Sioux City continues to perform very well. It has moved into my family's top choice for our family night out. The Italian Nachos are amazing and we have had great experiences with all of the food. Sometimes the service can be hit or miss but the times we've had issues were on crazy busy nights. In all cases, whenever there has been an issue, the server and manager on duty make things right for us. Also, I'm a big fan of the World Beer Tour. Keeps me coming back in for a "quick beer with my buddies". read more

The food was very good, except for the the bar tender (Mike) that had his pants falling down past his butt and all u could see was his red underwear the whole time we eat. Really made it hard to eat when all u saw was red underwear the whole time not very appetizing at all, I can't believe a place of business that serves food would let their employee dress like that!! Very loud, I couldn't hear the people at our table talking. We were squeezed in behind another family eating. Our pizza was very greesy on both pizza's and my Tuscan chicken was very wet and the crust was paper thin on a regular ale crust. Service was ok just very loud and they stuck us in a corner where we couldn't even see the screens. read more

We came to have a quick bite.. I had them Thai chicken salad.. it was very good. They dressing was delicious..I didn't like them chicken much.. it was cold. I prefer my chicken warm. Even on salads.. overall it was a decent place to watch a little football and a snack. read more

They had my favorite cider on tap (which is rare). Had a thin crust pizza and really enjoyed the size, cut and flavor. The atmosphere was laid back and inviting. They have a nice array of foods and pizza choices. They had thin, regular and thick crust as well gluten free options. Definitely a good place for catch all appetites. read more

The food is good, the beer selection is amazing if they actually don't run out of what you want, but the service is terrible! I cannot believe the staff treat and talk to paying customers in such a derogatory manner. Even an older female manager talked to me in such a demeaning way, after handing me a rewards card I told her I would never dine there again. I waited so long for my server to get the beer I ordered I had finished my meal and asked the bartender directly for a pint of Guinness. After several lunch visits with friends to this new location including opening day, my wife and I decided to have dinner last night and arrived at 5:45. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away. We decided what to order and waited and waited and waited. We waited 30 minutes then left, no server came to our table. We couldn't find the manager so my wife told the hostess about the bad service. The hostess responded, "I'm sorry". After this I don't know that I can go back there. The pizza is not the best in town but the Classic cheddar burger I had for lunch several times was awesome. The beer selection is top notch with over 100 beers available. So disappointed! I was looking forward to some gluten free pizza so we made the hour trip to SC, having Celiac Disease there aren't many choices close to home. Decided to have a Smirnoff listed on the menu as Malternative (meaning malt alternative to barley) turns out they weren't serving the Canadian version on the menu, it was just regular Smirnoff so I was glutened and although they were serving something different than what was on the menu they still billed me for it. Then the food took forever and the gluten free pile of mush that they called nachos, which was ordered as an appetizer, came out 10 minutes after the pizza, of course by then we no longer wanted them, but were never asked. One of the sinks and a toilet were not working but at least the paper towels were filled this time. I spoke to the manager but he didn't really seem too concerned. If I could, I would give zero stars. read more

Great food and a lot of beers. I was hoping for more craft ipa beers on tap, but still had some new ones I haven't tried yet. Food came out fast and hot and was really good. Only thing was towards the end we felt a little rushed to pay and get out. read more

Good food. Mediterranean salad and Mediterranean farmers pizza were both full of flavors. Good beer selection as well... which has been the case for some time at most Old Chicago location. Like the food. Great beer selection. If you like domestic beers this may not be the place for you. The beer selection changes with the seasons. There are always a mini tour going on with a variety of beers. Can get samples of tap beers to try before ordering any tap beer. Good family restaurant. We have ordered some of the appetizers and have not been disappointed. The specially pizza like the Chicago 7 and Meat Me are great on thick crust. read more

I would love to give no stars my wife daughter and I went for lunch we all ordered a double cheese Burger and fries and the boneless hot wings for the appetizer it took 45 minutes to get our wings we ordered the largest size and there was not even enough for a one person appetizer the burgers came out maybe 5 or ten minutes after and instead of a double Burger we all got single burgers the waitress told us that the cook was new and didn't know what the Burger was supposed to be and we would be comped for his mistake (which yes we were comped a whopping 5 dollars off not each just 5 dollars total ) the Burger Patty was so so over cooked all you could taste was a charred burnt taste when I go out to a "good" place to eat where it cost 42 dollars for three people ( no beer wine just three ice teas) I would expect good food the table next to us (which was a business Xmas party luncheon )didn't have any better luck food was either wrong or not brought out period I don't think I will be going here again I have heard others that have been to other locations and just raved about the food the only thing good the day we went was the waitress our cups of tea never went dry even though the food was very sub par we still tipped ten bucks just hope the cook didn't get a cut of it read more

The following review comes on the Grand Opening so any improvements that could be made would be natural to expect. Location staff was friendly and welcoming at the door, which was a good start, wasn't too busy around the 8-9pm hour came in. Had a good waiter as well who kept on top of any service needs. Nice atmosphere close to what one would expect in an Old Chicago location. The extra time they took to get the place right rather than rush for Christmas shows. The menu from what I saw is a bit different than the Omaha and Iowa City locations have been to recently and didn't seem to have the Pasta dish options find at some others (i.e. Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo) Made up for this by trying the Spaghetti Pie Alfredo with Chicken as well as the Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs for an Appetizer. The presentation of the food for both were nicely done, the Meatballs with a definite artistic flare, bonus points for that. The sauce and noodles were quite delicious, however the garlic bread that came with the Spaghetti Pie was rather tough in general and quite hard to bite into, so some improvements could be made in regards to that. Other than that mistep an all-in-all good meal. Lived up to an impressive and perhaps the widest selection of beers of any chain restaurant in Sioux City. (Nice to see the Celebrator in the list) Prices were on par with what one can expect and believe them thus far to be fair. Will be going back in the near future to try the signature pizza's as well. Service is terrible. Have been multiple times and the wait staff seems to be overstaffed but still very very slow. Food is OK not great. Layout of restaurant doesn't make any sense. Got seated in a back corner on one visit and watched servers pick leftover food off silverware before wrapping it up. I loved coming here after work for their killer happy hour! But tonight, after not receiving what I ordered the waiter brought me red onion and suggested I shove it in my calzone, myself. Were there at opening time on a Sunday. We were the second table seated but somehow my pizza and my wife's chicken sandwich took over 50 min to come to our table. We watch folks come in after us leave before we got our meal which was frustrating. We were told it was my pizza that was taking so long at first then was told it was my wife's chicken sandwich. The place was freezing, like a meat locker. Looking around the packed restaurant, I saw many dinners wearing their winter coats while sitting and eating. Here's a clue for the management, if your guests are wearing their parkas while eating, turn up the thermostat. read more

Old Chicago is usually one of my favorite restaurants. I travel a lot for my job and love going to Old Chicago often. I was so excited when it came to Sioux City. I keep trying to give it a chance - but after five visits I give up. I took my family there last night. Tried to call in to see if we could reserve a table. Was told they don't do that - which was expected. When we arrived - we were told it would be a twenty minute wait for a table. We sat there for twenty minutes - went up to ask how long it would be (because we saw several table open) and was told it would be another 40 minutes. Finally asked why we couldn't have one of the six tables that we saw just sitting there open and were told it was because they were being held for people who had called in. Seems crazy to make several families sit there and wait for an hour when tables are sitting there open. Food has been subpar each time and service is just not what I'm used to from this chain. read more

Great selection of foods as well as gluten free. Wait staff and servers are friendly and knowledgeable of what being offered. The beer selection is unique and interesting and they can talk the talk. This is really important for those who have not really experienced craft beers very much. This is a good place to learn and enjoy the differences. This restaurant is a great addition to the Lakeport Commons, however, I hope the restaurant staff doesn't take that for granted. We have had hit and miss visits to Old Chicago. 2 things that remains on point-- beer selection is great and the Italian nachos! We LOVED the Thai chili wings the 1st 2 times, but our most recent visit they were disguisting. Looked and tasted like frozen wings. Pizzas have been hot, crispy and tasty... But most recently it was not cooked thoroughly and sloppily presented. Please stay delicious Old Chicago! read more

My wife and I have been there four times since they opened. We were so happy to have Old Chicago in Sioux City, and not have to travel to Omaha or Sioux Falls. If and when we go again it will be in Omaha or Sioux Falls. First issue no take out ordering. I know they will eventually have it. But with five people huddled around the greeting desk maybe they could repurpose them. Next issue empty table but people line up waiting 30 minutes or more to get a table. Our first visit was the best service we got and it has gone down hill since then. So has the food. Our last pizza had very little sauce and was so laden with grease we left it in the pan. Maybe they will get better with time, if they last long enough. read more

I arrived for lunch at ten minutes before noon on a Sunday. We saw that there were seats available inside and a whole ton of seats outside. We put our names in and the server said--"that will be about 25-30 minutes to wait." I said, "What?" So I said that we will be happy to sit outside since it looked like the inside seats were somehow saved for the non-existent people that were sitting there. He says to me..."We're not seating people outside now." REALLY? I mean REALLY? I turned around and happily walked over to Panera Bread, ordered and had my meal in less than 8 minutes and ate a nice healthy lunch OUTSIDE.
