Since this is a new restaurant I'm hoping that this review does not remain relevant. We dined in the main restaurant (not the Upper Lounge). My first gripe is not directed at the restaurant or it's staff, but the other diners. We had a reservation for 6 at 6:30 pm. The table intended for us was supposedly almost vacant when we arrived at about 6:15ish. They were finishing dessert. As time dragged on, we were getting a bit antsy and inquired about the table. Apparently they had been seated at 4:30 and didn't end up leaving until after 7:30. The house did what they could, aside from blatantly asking that they leave. The check was paid and all of the dishes cleared away. But really, people should be more courteous than to take up a table for 3 hours in the prime dining time on a busy Saturday night. Things I noticed that may have helped smooth things over: The maître d appeared to be unfamiliar with his role and seemed to be more of a hostess. He was not overly forthcoming in helping us understand the situation. After we sat at the bar to wait (there were plenty of empty stools) neither of the two bartenders approached our party to see if we needed a drink. I spent some time trying to catch some attention to obtain a drink menu and then even more time trying to catch enough attention to order three drinks. The bartender didn't ask if it was going to be on our dinner tab and just placed the check on the bar. Not awful, but horribly inconvenient. Once we were seated the waiter took the bar tab separately before the meal was ordered. He might have at least rolled it into the dinner tab. On the more positive side, dinner was very nice. There was a moment when the kitchen must have gotten over warm and they opened the back door causing the wind to whistle by us. It got rather cold and, after flagging someone down, they did close the door. The steaks and fish we ordered were cooked wonderfully and precisely to order. The appetizers came out promptly. The side dishes were delicious and the vegetables were not overcooked. Dessert also came out promptly and was wonderful. All in all, once we were seated it was a nice meal. Getting to that point was a bit difficult. I hope that some of the service issues will be resolved as time passes and people become better trained. read more

OK been there twice now, first time food was average and expensive and service wasn't great. Second time was better as the food was better (but people I was with didn't seem to like theirs that much). Service was better too. However the one thing that annoyed me is we sat for about 30 minutes after paying and it was about 9:30pm and we were the last ones there and the staff turned the normally dim lights all the way up, as if to tell us to GTFO. Thought that was pretty rude.....if it wasn't for that I would have rated them higher. read more

My husband is from Lima and I was very pleased to learn that a fine dining restaurant had opened and was excited to visit as an alternative to the large chains the next time we were in town. I was however disappointed with the service, quality of food and portion size. I frequent fine dining restaurants throughout the country and it's my belief that you cannot charge fine dining prices if you are not delivering fine dining service, portions, or quality. Our service was downright ridiculous. Water glasses went unfilled for far too long, the waitress never introduced herself, or welcomed us to the restaurant and even seemed bothered by our party of 6 simple requests for additional salad dressing. The $57 bone in ribeye while somewhat flavorful was thin. I don't believe a $44 prime cut filet should be wrapped in bacon as I was paying for a steak and not bacon flavored steak. The $16 "king crab" was not even CLOSE to being a pound worth as stated on their menu. I would have liked to discuss this with management had they even visited our table. While I would like to give this place another try next time were in town, it will be hard to justify the immense cost with such a bad experience the first time around. read more

Excited to hear about a upscale steakhouse in Lima, OH. If only the food and service could have been equally exciting. I sat at the bar. One of the bartenders bent every employees' ear about how he was upset about how things were going here. I ordered the Lobster Bisque it lacked the smooth richness that one expects with a great lobster bisque. I order the ribeye as a surf and turf with a half a pound of king crab legs. When I got my order it was a ribeye served Oscar style. I thought I had messed up I asked for a menu when one was brought I had order correctly the bartender had put my order in wrong. I waited 35 minutes for my steak and the steak had not been properly tested. When I told him his response was "sorry bud" Lima needs an upscale steakhouse but this one needs some work. read more

I found myself in Lima for business on the weekend and came to this steakhouse for the weekend prime rib special. It was reservations only at 6 o'clock on a Saturday evening. So we sat at the bar and had wonderful service. I ordered the prime rib weekend special (small) and it was delicious. I must say that the side salad with also really, really good! I definitely recommend this restaurant as the service and the food were both top notch. read more

Average at best, lobster bisque was very good but pass on steak skewers and pretzels for an appetizer. Whitefish was ok, Chilean sea bass was the worst i've had as it was mushy and flavor was confusing. Friends said the house ribeye was excellent in texture but a "6 out of 10" for flavor. Mixed drinks I had were sub par, desserts were flat out bad except for the mint ice cream mixed drink. Baked apple cinnamon is what I ordered, roll tasted like it came out of a machine. Sorry I wanted to like this place, as it is close and Lima needs something like this, but as it is, it is an average restaurant with high end prices. We spent a bit over 100 dollars to get a full experience and I can't say i'd go back. read more

Great food, atmosphere and wait staff. We could not have selected a better restaurant for our evening. Our favorites were the large prawn appetizer, house salad and New York strip steak. The menu has a great variety for all palettes. The home made desserts looked delicious. All staff were very accommodating especially due to our time constraints for our civic center event the same night. Next visit we will save room for the desserts. Had lunch there. Crab corn chowder which was served lukewarm with hard floury corn. Fish tacos were dreadful. I will still try dinner there some time since it deserves a second chance. Had a 7:00 pm reservation yet waited 48 min. The new york strip was good but not outstanding, not worth the $43. They had substituted the menu with a special Valentine weekend menu with inflated prices. Could not order the rib eye I had wanted. I can't comment on the food. We were never seated. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation. The hostess informed us there was no "buzzer" available and we would need to check back every 10 minutes to see if any were available. Thirty minutes later, we still had no pager or table. I asked the hostess if she would be notifying us when our table was ready since a pager wasn't available. She said, "no, that is too inconvenient" for them. An hour later, no pager and no table. Horrible service from the moment we walked in the door our was lost we did get seated at the worst table in there. After ordering a bottle of wine it took 30 min to get it. 1 hr 50 min to get food which wasn't right. The food was not worth price unfortunately you just can't have high quality service in Lima. read more

I have been there 3 times, got steak 2 of the times. The steak isn't very flavorful and I expected more for the price I was paying. The rest of the food tastes really good though! The burgers are reasonably priced for what you get and the lunch is reasonably priced. I don't think I will purchase a steak next time I go though. read more

I recently visited and was not impressed.The food wasnt any different than Applebees. I ordered a steak and it came on what looked like a piece of wheat toast with the crust cut off. The dessert looked and tasted like it got pulled out of a box. The food just didnt feel like any love was put into it. I was not impressd with the wine list either. This was our second visit. Last Oct all seemed well. Last night the food was just not very good - especially given the prices being charged. Both prime rib and my chicken dish were really salty almost to the point being inedible. Deviled egg appetizer was just weird - little flavor. A friend with us liked her salmon. Service was slow but we were in no hurry so that was not so much of a problem and it was a busy Sat. night. Hope things improve. read more

This was my first time and last time going here. It's beautiful inside and was seated right away. We were a group of 6 celebrating our friends 3rd anniversary. I ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms, French onion soup and the half chicken breast with Yukon mashed potatoes. I was the only one not drinking any alcohol. The mushrooms were good, the French onion soup had very little taste. I have had better at beer barrel which is ironic that it's owned by the same owner. Not for my dinner, I received a stuffed chicken breast. Was not going to send it back since it took almost an hour to get to our main course and was not impressed. I have gone to other restaurants like City Prime all my life with my parents and this will be our one and only time. We normally go to Mancys in Toledo. Beautiful decor and atmosphere but wasn't impressed with my food. We even ordered the 2 ahi tuna apps for our teenager which she was excited about and loved. My husband did enjoy his New York Strip but you might have real butter served with your lobster that was his only complaint read more

First of all, the atmosphere and the service were terrific. Exactly what you would expect at a nice, high-end restaurant. We had the bruschetta for an appetizer and it was terrific. The issue I have is with the featured bone in ribeye. For $47 I would've expected much, much more. The taste was great, but I ordered it medium rare, which would be impossible to cook since it was less than 1/2" thick. It came out medium well. I've eaten at many high-end steakhouses around the country and this is the first time I've ever had an issue with the thickness of a steak. I ordered The Alaskan king crab legs as an addition. The taste was great, but they were not precut which would've made it much easier to handle. I also had the creamed spinach as a side, it came out cold and tasteless. I had one bite. My wife had the chicken and home baked macaroni and cheese - it was fine, as you would expect. read more

Scheduled reservations and looked to have a great night until I was seated and it took the waitress 30 mins to get our drinks out. It was at this time she came to start taking our orders and acknowledged we have an appt upstairs for the dueling pianists. When the food arrived, my order was incorrect as I ordered the Beef sirloin brisket and was brought Top sirloin.... I informed the waitress of the incorrect order, she offered to have the kitchen remake the meal. I had to remind her we were already supposed to be upstairs by the time the food arrived, and I did not want our group to be delayed another 25 mins to wait for the mix up by the waitress. The bill was brought out and she had billed me for the top sirloin, and I asked her to charge me for the order I had placed. She resorted to be short with me about even asking for that, and would have the manager make the decision. This is where it became unprofessional... The manager wanted to state since I ate the meal that was brought out he would not adjust the bill to make up for the mixup. This was literally a $5 difference, and the manager told me "He would not change the bill". This type of problems are easily fixed from restaurants that don't even cost 1/10th the amount, but yet this place does not care to take care of the customer. Needless to say, I don't think its worth the bad publicity over $5.00. I will not recommend people spend their nights out nor their time at this restaurant until corrections are made for these scenario's. read more

This was the second time I went there and I got the salmon both times. Exceptional!! Best I have ever had! Other guest got the sirloin and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great! Our server, Vonda, was very nice, professional, and service was fast! My only complaint was the red potatoes were cold. The steamed vegetables were good. We will be back! read more

We are locals, who have eaten here before. We had a party of 6 on a Thursday evening. The place was empty save for us. So we expected great attention. We got it. Our staff saw to our every need. Even after the dining room began to fill up. anything we needed or requested was produced. As usual, the food was delicious, and the menu was full enough for our widely varying tastes. Had reservation for 7:30 pm on Sat. Had to wait 1/2 hr for table upon arrival. I guess they don't know what reservations mean? Was served a salad while waiting for main entre, which took almost an hour longer. Left before it was served due to wait. Absolutely terrible food service. I feel sorry for the staff. I have been to Old City Prime on three occasions and will only go back for drinks. I really wanted to like this place. The decor is beautiful and the wine selection was good, the food however is extremely disappointing. I ordered the filet med rare and it came out well done. The cook prepared another one for me, but it was nothing special. On another occasion we ordered the pretzels and fondue (this was fine). The Margherita pizza came out without basil (when something only has three toppings I want all three) and when we asked why the waitress said they were out. So we ordered the lobster pizza in its place, after the waitress assured us the seafood had been delivered that day. The lobster was completely rotten, so bad that we couldn't even swallow a bite. The waitress did take it off the bill, but didn't even apologize for our terrible experience. The place is overpriced for less than mediocre food. read more

I drove from Carmel, IN to Lima, OH to meet my husband for dinner, as he is working in Lima. It was our 19th anniversary. We arrived and were seated next to a table with about 12 customers, we readjusted in the booth which made for a somewhat more cozy atmosphere. The building itself had beautiful history and I hoped for a joyful evening, not so much! The waitress was nice but not very attentive, she would deliver our order and not come back until something else was delivered. The wine was good, and the lobster bisque soup was ok - not much lobster. The salad consisted of what I believe to have been bag salad with a few slices of onion, and 2 small slices of tomato. I ordered a sirloin medium, it was closer to medium rare, but that is actually how I like my steak, so it would have been ok. I took one bite of the steak, horrible, no flavor, and felt nauseated after. I did try the red potatoes and Brussels sprout sides, not bad, but again minimal flavor - but that could have been from the nauseating steak. My husband got the Delmonico - he said it was ok, but could have got a lot better food somewhere else. The manager or at least I believe it was the manager came over and asked about my steak, at least 20 minutes after it was delivered. I explained it had no flavor and had a horrible taste. He said they had a Cajun seasoning, and they use minimal seasoning - just salt and pepper - I have always been told if you need A1 - horrible steak, I explained I wasn't a Cajun fan, he asked if there were something else he could get me, my husband was almost finished by that time, and as long as it took to get and the way I felt from the one bite, I was not taking any chances. Our waitress never came back, we were almost done and she brought over some donuts, sent by the manager, donuts for dinner - odd. I declined as I was still nauseated. My husband declined as well. Needless to say I had to stop 1/2 way back to our accommodations because the nausea turned to the flip side. The horrible food and service ruined our evening. I'm not a fast food fan, but a cheeseburger and fry would have been more appetizing and 40 times less. My husband works at the local power plant we frequently dine out in the area, by ourselves and with locals, I now know why the locals have not recommended. I will not be returning and will not recommend. Save your money and try Lock 16, at least their steaks have some flavor. read more

Went there with the family for a Friday evening dinner. Admittedly we had small children with us and from hindsight we question that decision. The waiter was pretty snooty. I think his name was Scott (the one that likes to show off his singing). He appeared visibly impatient when taking our orders. At one point he paused and asked us if we've been here before as if we didn't order in the right manner for him. I've been there many times before. Not sure if it was because of the kids (whom were behaving) or that he thought we didn't fit the profiles of those going to "nice" restaurants. The poor service was enough for us to not ever want to go back. We've been to many fine dining establishments throughout the state and country. On a comparison scale OCP is not exactly top of the list even for a small town. Food is decent but the particular service style by this waiter did not help to convince us to go back again in the future. That may change if Scott is no longer there as he did not do justice for what can potentially be a good venue for Lima. For a better alternative, I'd recommend Vivace. Better food and service there. read more
