We visit Lima every year for the American Flat Track race at the Allen Co fairgrounds, and was looking to have a nice meal with our group of 9 people. part of our group arrived late and we were treated awesome. Our server Stephanie, did an outstanding job attending to our every request. and was very knowledgeable about the menu. we had a wide variety of menu options including Oysters and Beef Pinwheels for appetizer. Steven the Ceaser Salad chef was amazing also with his at table creation. we had a variety of Main Course options, and everyone was happy. The Filet was deliciou, as was the Meatloaf. we had such a great time with Stephanie that we recruited her to work with our Charity at the Race the next day. She was as good at the event as she was at the table helping our group raise much needed funds for Injured Racers. Not only did we have a great meal, and make new friend, but we also had our best fundraising day of our year. I was taken here by my friends and had the most delightful dinner. I have been ruined for any prime rib I will ever have after this. The prime rib is done Sous vide and was the most tender and flavorful that I have ever had. We had the bomb for dessert -- and it too was heavenly. I love this restaurant! It has been a few years since I was here and I was really looking forward to dinner. It was the lump crab was delicious as always. The OC burger was very tasty juicy and cooked to my liking medium. Although I must say I was disappointed. For a $13.00 burger I expect that burger to be bun to bun in all directions and it was not. It was present hanging over the edge. I had a large area of bun missing the meat, unacceptable. And the crinkle cut fries, really. Fresh cut fries would be much better and tastier. But again the burger was very tasty. They have a fare selection of beer. The staff was AWSOME. Very professional, polite prompt and helpful. I felt like one of the locals. I will defiantly come back. read more

The food is absolutely amazing and serving size substantial.  Their appetizers are delicious and some could serve as a meal.  We've never had to wait a lengthy amount of time after orders are placed and once our food is served, the wait staff is very attentive in checking back to make sure our food is satisfactory or to see if we need anything.  Even the manager will stop by our table to make sure everything is to our liking.  We haven't had the opportunity to enjoy their Sunday Brunch but looking forward to it!  Old City Prime is a superb restaurant and, the best part, we don't have to travel to another city to enjoy fine dining! read more

Which it should be at the upscale prices on the dining room side. There is a more casual side at the bar but we have not checked that out yet. Lima is lucky to have such a nice restaurant. My husband and I went to OCP to celebrate our birthdays. This was our first visit and it was superb. Our waiter was Scott and he was very attentive without being intrusive. Hubby and I tried different entree's and sides, and I had the fresh spinach salad and he had the lobster bisque. To top off the evening Scott brought us each a cupcake and sang to us! It was wonderful to find this gem in Lima! On a scale of 1-10 I give them 100!! read more

My parents and I came in from out of town last week to meet up with some Lima locals. We chose Old City Prime for its location and its excellent quality. My father had an appetizer seafood plate that was amazing. The table shared the brie appetizer. It too was very tasty. Mains ranged from excellent filets, to a beautiful plate of crab legs (that they opened in the kitchen for one of the diners at our table), to lamb chops that were served over a pile of potatoes, to a ribeye that was huge. Brussels sprouts abounded at the table. The food and drink were quite good. The server was very friendly and tried not to interrupt the lively conversation at the table. The main reason for the 3 stars is the maitre d'. Our party spent 3 hours and probably more than $300 for our evening (I didn't see the check; we were guests of the Lima locals who chose the restaurant). This gentleman practically sneared at us from across the room for the last 30 minutes of our dining experience. I even went up to him to explain that these two couples had not seen each other for over a decade. I also explained that my 80-plus year old father grew up in Lima and was visiting for nostalgia's sake. Clearly, the personal story was lost on the house manager that evening. His foul humor followed us as we hugged and laughed our way out the door, stopping to look at the photos of Old Lima that grace the walls. Great restaurant. Less than stellar front man on the floor. This place is a Gem!!!!! If you want the best Prime Rib, seafood, craft cocktails, decadent desserts and the best wait staff look no further than Old City Prime!!! We were passing thru the area and called to find out if we could make reservations. They were completely booked and rightfully so but told us the bar is open and has full menu service there. We went and it was the best decision we made!!! Nicole our bartender and waitress was more than accommodating! We even got to watch her crafting her amazing cocktails! I drove two hours to take my mother out to lunch since it's Mother's Day. My parents have been raving about OCP's brunch menu. I made a reservation a week ago, checked the website, etc. When we got there we were given the regular dinner menus. So I went up to the host to inquire about the bunch menu and asked if they were serving that today. Instead of simply and kindly answering my question, like our server did when presented with the same question, he looked at me like I was a moron and began defining brunch for me, as if in my 32 years I had never encountered the word. I tried to explain that I realize it is after noon but the website clearly says you are open till 3pm and a "brunch menu" is available. He again acted like he had no idea what I was referring to. The food and the servers have alway been wonderful here in my few experiences but the condescension from the host was not appreciated. read more

Really great Moscow mules, my date ordered the $70 wagyu steak and loved it, I got the $29 mango salmon which was delicious. The company covering the meals bought all kinds of appetizers for the table and i really liked the crab stuffed mushrooms. The charcuterie board was good too, as was the potato skins and scallops. This is an extremely expensive restaurant, food is fantastic though. I personally don't know that I'd ever spend more than $35 on a meal in Lima, but at least you know the food will be good here. read more

Decent food with a large price tag. Another attraction to downtown Lima, I was hopeful about old city prime. I came with my grandmother for a "night on the town" Lima style. Sadly we weren't very impressed. The decor was fantastic, loved the history and preservation of the building, but the food was a bit of a let down. My steak wasn't cooked as I ordered and the flavor wasn't nearly what I expected for the price. My side of potatoes was good but comically large and the appetizer was much better than the main. All-in-all there are places in Lima that are just as good for half the price. I give props for what they are trying to do here, I love the idea of live music and great food in downtown Lima, but I think they need to refocus their efforts to justify their prices. read more

I've lived in New York and Boston and I can honestly say this is right up there with some of the better steak houses that we've been too. As a matter of fact, this blew Michael Jordan's Steak House (Grand Central Station Location) out of the water! Others complain about the wait... Sure we waited but, let me tell you, when we were seated it felt like our waiter was only responsible for catering to our every need. Our food was equally as delicious! We enjoyed every moment of being at OCP... I don't understand why everyone is always in a hurry, it's not like there is much else going on in town. Relax, enjoy and make a night out of dining at OCP. Side bar: I read the other reviews and I wonder if the folks who gave poor ratings have ever left little ol' Lima to experience the world? Seems like everyone in this town is afraid of change, yet at the same time everyone complains that there is no change. Get it together folks; this town needs a place like this!!! The only reason OCP earned three stars instead of two is because of the beautifully designed interior and lovely bar. Food was very average. Service was much worse, given the expectation of such an establishment. Server was unfriendly and lacked knowledge of fine dining etiquette. In fact, his version of service is the reason that this was NOT NOT NOT a fine experience. There was such little hospitality, professionalism, or welcoming spirit that I would not recommend OCP to anyone who is genuinely looking for a fine dining experience. Examples: server did not exchange one word with us after we ordered dessert and we were there for 30 minutes more; at one point he had grease on his face that shined in the light because he had clearly just eaten something from the kitchen; server smiled one time only; one of our appetizers tasted freezer burnt; server asked to clear our plates too early every. single. course. ... the little things add up quickly. As a person who loves to dine (and often goes out of town to do so) and knows what wonderful hospitality and service should be -- not to mention I am a Lima native -- I was very disappointed. The best restaurant in Lima, Ohio... hands down. Of course such good food comes with a price... this is certainly a restaurant reserved for special occasions. I've always had a great steak... and besides that, the pretzel ball cheese fondue, lobster bisque, caesar salads, and raw bar selections have been some of my favorites. Above anything it's nice to have a meal at a steakhouse that is worthy of any big city restaurant critic. Surely nay-sayers would say a establishment like this couldn't sustain itself in Lima... I'm happy they have been proven wrong. So far I've made eating here a new tradition when visiting Lima... and I hope to have that continue. read more

Good place but overpriced. Though I'm glad I went and glad Lima has this place. 3 adults with 1 drink each and 1 shared app and desert $160. Stuffed mushrooms were OK with very little crab stuffing. My $43 strip steak was very ok, a little chewy for "dry age". the $26 sirloin was good per my guest. My wife's $28 king salmon was good i heard. As far as I knew my strip steak came with a salad and side but I was charged $6 for my salad and $6 for onions and mushrooms, which made it $55 for my steak and it was no way worth that. The atmosphere was great as was the service. Very likely won't be back and unfortunately recommend Texas roadhouse as again my steak very underwhelming and not worth the cost. PS. We got our Bread pudding to go and it was fantastic, but doesn't change my overall review. read more

I called Christmas Eve to check their hours and was told they were open until 4 with the last seating at 2. I get there at 1:55... Doors are locked and no one would answer the phone. If you're open until 2, be open until 2. Don't lock the doors early. Then Saturday I attempt to do the same thing. Check the website- open 11 am til 10 pm on Saturdays. Great, I'll go then. I drive all the way out there- they're not open. They open at 5 pm. Which is what it says on their Facebook page, but not their Website. Silly me, why would I think that a business's website would have the most accurate information ? Get it together. I'm not sure the effort I've Put forth to spend money at this establishment is actually worth it. read more

I travel for business about 50% of my time. As a result, I spend a lot of time in restaurants. The service was horrible. The restaurant wasn't busy at all and yet, I waited for bread, wine, food, the check, and the ability to closeout and leave. I looked at the receipt time stamp to confirm and I had waited over 20 minutes from the time I received the check until I had to get up to hunt down the server. It was not until then, that I was able to closeout. A true disappointment... were it not for the terrible service, I would have gone back on my many trips through town. The outside is terribly run down and in desperate need of a makeover. On the positive side, the stuffed chicken I tasted was very good, the menu was comprehensive, and the wine list was fair. read more

My husband took me here on our first date years ago so we've returned each year for our anniversary. In the past we've had exceptional dining experiences. The building is beautiful and the staff is great. Since going vegan a couple years ago, this tradition has been tried. I get it..a vegan in a steak house... Last year was not a good experience but this year my husband made reservations again. I had the cauliflower steak with a side salad and asparagus. There was a delicious bean purée underneath and pretty much a salad on top. My husband and I joked that when a vegan orders something just put a salad on top of it. It worked though. Asparagus was delicious as well. Glad to know our tradition can continue. If there were more options for me, we'd certainly visit more often. read more

Came here for dinner and drinks on a fairly busy but not over flowing Saturday night. Our waitress came and took drink orders. When she came with my boyfriends beer (about 15 mins btw) she forgot my wine and I had to ask for it twice before she brought it. Our food orders also took about 30 minutes to come out after that. Won't be back. Service was horrible, food was bland and bordering on tasting just not good...which us actually quite hard with a simple menu like that. Sorry! read more

I had the New York strip and it was awful, and the price was ridiculous for the cut of meat almost $50!! My wife had the scallops and tasted like they came out of a can!! The Brie appetizer was by far some of the worst ever!! I will never go back to The Old City Prime, that place is a joke, if your Looking for a real steak got to the bistro in Findlay on Main Street, AMAZING food and service is excellent!! read more
