I found this company to be lacking in professionalism. At the time I made an appointment, I was quoted $100 for a chimney cleaning. Based on that, and the fact that it's a family-run, local business, I decided to try them out. On the day of the appointment, at the end of the timeframe for when Dave was supposed to arrive to clean the chimney, I receive a phone call saying he was tied up on another job, and wouldn't be able to make it. She asked if I would reschedule, which I did. At the second appointment, when Dave arrived, there were no apologies or any other customer service recovery actions taken. After the service was rendered, Dave charged $200. I explained that I had been quoted $100, and he said that was incorrect, and that the $200 was actually their special instead of $250. I know, I should have requested the initial quote in writing. Definitely would NOT recommend. There are other companies out there who are respectful of your time, provide better customer service, and charge less. read more

Old Hat Chimney Service is a worthless business. It has taken me over a month and a half to get an answer out of these people about a flue extension. The idiots that came and cleaned my chimney didn't seem to know what they were doing and left ash all over my house when they left. This is the 2nd time this business has cleaned my chimney. The first time they put on a chimney cap. The 2nd time they stated that one of my chimney's needed to have a $6000 repair to the flue. I have had an issue with smoke being drafted from one flue to another flue and filling my basement with smoke and wanted to know about a flue extension. The owner was supposed to show up and look at it a month after the idiots cleaned it. He never showed up and when I called multiple times he would never talk to me. No phone call to explain why he didn't show up or anything. What a coward!!!! He tells his assistant that he can put an extension on the flue, but it is not to code. What's more, they tried to tell me that before I got the flue extension that I had to get the $6000 flue repair completed. They were a complete waste of my time and I don't recommend them. They are dirt bags!!! read more
