This place was amazing. We stayed nearby and went Friday and Saturday. This place has a fantastic outdoor area that is not crowded, perfect mix of sun and shade, plenty of picnic tables, speakers and lights in the trees for ambiance. My SO and I tried everything! I did a wine flight and he did a beer flight on Friday afternoon.i had a mix of red, white and a sparkling rose. I liked the whites and rose best. We ate at Green Ribbon, the onsite kitchen. Everything we had was delicious. The highlight was Eggs Benedict over fries. Their salads, fries and special pumpkin panna cotta were phenomenal. We did a spirits flight on Saturday and fell in love with their herbal gin and coffee liquors. The service was excellent. Servers were knowledgeable, friendly and organized. The venue is beautiful. Lots of outdoor space. Though most is closed off during the weekend for weddings and other celebrations. I tried the rosè and spirits flight tasting. The wine and spirits were just okay in my opinion. We attended and event here and the food was good! Stopped here on a whim when returning to Reston from Nelson County (just a gorgeous area, especially in the fall) -- we were hungry and apparently I had not had enough wine during this trip. I enjoyed the wine, especially since the flights were decently priced, but really it is the beauty of this vineyard and the rooms of the old farmhouse buildings that you can find a cozy corner in that makes the experience. I think they have an actual restaurant, but like I said, this was on a whim so we just enjoyed the wine, views and because it was a little cold, a secluded corner in the farmhouse along with some of their gourmet wood-fired pizza. I have been to over 100 wineries all over Virginia and the country and this is one of my absolute favorites. If I remember correctly, it's the first "trifecta" in Virginia for serving wine, beer, and spirits. The views are amazing with a pond that has an island in the center you can walk out too. It's so beautiful, that my husband and I had our 10 year anniversary photoshoot here. My friend and I first stumbled upon the winery about 12-13 years ago, it's amazing to see how much it's grown and all the added buildings (distillery, brewery, and adult only pub section). Another great thing about the space is that they offer a full menu from the Green Ribbon. A winery, with not only good wine and views, that has food is exactly the space I want to be in. We've never had a bad meal. My favorite dish is the curry mussels and we always opt for the corn fritters and crab nachos/dip. Finally, I can also speak on weddings. My friend, that I visited with 12 years ago (and regularly every year after), got married here last year in August. Us ladies were able to get ready and prep in the original winery house. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony on the island and they had many beautiful views/options for photos afterwards. The cocktail hour was by the pond, where they served signature cocktail drinks. For the reception, we were in the barn/pavilion building right next to the pond. The food was served by Green Ribbon, mentioned above, and we had partied the evening away. There was ample parking and service was attentive. It was honestly one of my favorite weddings and I know it was mainly because of how well Old House handled everything and the fond memories they've helped my friend and I create over the years. Lovely place. But don't go on a busy weekend. Over Labor Day they underestimated the crowd size and became overwhelmed. Spent most of the day waiting in lines which was a real bummer. They haven't quite caught up with technical solutions for ordering food ahead and having it delivered. If they implement ordering with QR codes from your table use texting alerts, it would be a huge improvement. The wine is nice and the food was standard American fare. read more

An absolutely beautiful winery!!!! We came here on a Sunday before the weather shifted to cooler days as we were desperately in need of a winery visit and Old House did not disappoint at all!! They do an excellent job of keeping everyone safe during their visit as the grounds are massive and the tables are all socially distanced so there is quite a bit of room between you and the other patrons. Staff was super friendly and was able to answer any and all questions you may have. All tasting are on the form of paddle flights and you can mix and match to your liking. Plus, they now have there Hot Apple Cider with Spiced Rum that is fabulous and is a must try in addition to your flight! Drink it first too while it is warm!!! So good! You can purchase any of the wines ad spirits to take home and they are in the process of completing their distillery so in the future the will be a one stop shop for all the bevy needs! Looking forward to that! They allow you to BYOF (bring your own food) but also have food vendors there as well. Make sure you walk around the property and down to the lake in the back. Nice views and there may be vendors down there as well. Needless to say, I see many more visits here in the future! read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon, drove quite a bit out of our way for a winery that also had food offerings. Came to find out that they decided to close the kitchen early because it was Super Bowl Sunday. Fine, but nothing was posted on the Facebook site or the website(I had already checked). The staff behind the counter was pretty ambivalent and rude regarding the fact the kitchen had already closed. Honestly, a genuine apology opposed to a snarky eye roll would've been nice. I think the wines were decent, but mostly just disappointed that we had already decided what we were going to order and we were hungry and super disappointed that they chose to close the kitchen early without any sort of notification on any of their social media platforms. read more

This was my first winery experience and definitely a good one. We came on a Saturday, about 2pm. It wasn't super busy but there was a group doing a party at the time. We started with the wine flights and food. The flights cost $14 for 4. I am not a huge wine person, I prefer sweet wines so not many options for me. They do have dessert wines for an extra $2 or $4 I do not remember. The lady did say that 2 wines, Melange de Maison and Rosie's Rose were on the sweeter side. Not sweet enough for me, but again I'm not a wine connoisseur. I also tried a sparkling wine (not sure the name) and Wicked Bottom, which I ended up giving to my cousin. Now the food, there was 6 of us so we ordered a bunch of items and split it. We tried the crab dip, fried artichokes, cheese curds, bbq fries, crab fries, pub fries, corn fritters, and a feta dip. Everything was pretty good and definitely more than we needed lol. Corn fritters were my favorite. The crab dip was my least favorite and the crab fries seemed a bit salty. The pub fries were my favorite of the fries. It was my first time trying fried artichoke actually artichokes in general that were not in a dip. Honestly not much to them or to remember but they good. They do have some dessert options but we were full. They offer to go boxes too. We realized the distillery was going to close soon so we hurried up to get over there. This was the most fun of our day. The spirits flights cost is $10. I tried the tequila, vodka, rum and a coffee liqueur. All were good, the rum was cinnamon flavor and smelled sooo good. I ended up purchasing a bottle of the coffee liqueur which went great in some coffee the next day. The distellery does close earlier than the rest of the vineyard and apparently the day we went closed even earlier than normal. Overall we had a great experience! They do offer tours but did not have any that day. read more

We had an excellent afternoon tasting wines and spirits at the Old House Winery where the atmosphere is comfortable and the service is spectacular. The highlight of our afternoon was time spent at the distillery, where Derrick, our bartender, provided witty banter, exceptional knowledge of the spirits and memorabilia, and great conversation for more than an hour. read more

This is what I would call a "Sleeper" winery. You have no idea what it offers until you visit. We were totally taken back. It has a winery, brewery, and a distillery + multiple food options. It also has plenty of spread out, outdoor seating. We visited on Labor Day around 1pm and started @ the distillery. They make everything onsite. We did a tasting there for 10 bucks. We then moved onto beer and wine. Pints are 6 bucks. Again, very good pricing. The wives had wine, which they said was good. Glasses of wine were 8 dollars. Finally we got some food, which everyone devoured. The crab fries are REALLY good! Everyone was so nice and helpful. Aside from not being able to start a tab and having to pay each time you want a drink, I would give this winery a 9 out of 10 and we definitely go back. No photos on this review. Sorry read more

We came to Old House Vineyards as a last minute decision and it was definitely worth it! It is an understatement to say the property is beautiful. There is plenty of seating all around the lake that gives you a perfect view to sit down and eat/drink/chat with friends & family. The drinks here are great! They have a brewery, winery, AND a distillery which means there are plenty of options for everyone. My personal favorite was the frozen rosé--the perfect treat on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the food but it was all only OK, all on the salty side but not terrible. The staff here are all super friendly and willing to answer any questions! It was early afternoon and my wife and I were on the road and feeling like stopping for lunch. We had been recommended to try Old House when we were in the area, and since we were very close at the time, we turned in to Corkys Lane and thought we'd give it a try. Old House is a larger facility than some of the wineries we'd visited lately. The complex had a winery, a distillery, and a brewery. The brewery sounded good to us. We first entered the Taproom. It was a fairly large space with long tables that seated 6-10 people. It seemed that it would be perfect for a large group. At one end was a long bar that stretched the width of the room, with 3 very friendly people waiting to help us. At the far end of the room was the food vendor Green Ribbon. We placed our food order, then since we had a few minutes headed to the Irish Pub to take a look. Kearney's Irish Pub was a more intimate space than the Taproom. Along one wall was the bar, which like the Taproom had all of the beers and wines Old House had available. The walls were decked out in Irish memorabilia, and from the ceiling hung flags of all of the counties of Ireland. At one end of the room was a scale model of the Titanic.  My wife and I each ordered a pint. I had the Culpeper Cream, and my wife had the Helles Lager. Both beers were very good, nice and smooth and beer that we would purchase again if available to us.  When the food was ready, I picked it up from the Taproom and brought it back to the pub. We ordered Maryland Crab Dip with Tortilla chips. It was good, but could have been a bit more crabby and a bit less cheesy. My wife ordered Cevice, which she reported as being good but not spectacular. She said the seafood pieces could have been more bite-sized. I ordered a BBQ pork sandwich with cole slaw. The BBQ pork was excellent, if a little fatty. The cole slaw was obviously home made and definately added to the sandwich.  All in all, it was a very nice lunch stop. I try to keep my review of the food separate from the venues and the beer. The food was fine. We very much enjoyed the Taproom and especially Kearney's Irish Pub. It was a very comfortable place to have a pint and a conversation. We plan to make a return trip to Old House to sample the wines, which are excellent as we're told. read more

Visited this winery on New Year's Day. Getting to it can be a challenge because you're driving down some gravel roads through farmland. There's signs directing you so you know you're not trespassing on someone's property. As for the wine it was sad to say pretty average. On the bright side the food was excellent and there's a brewery that I didn't try. Overall the property is lovely and staff friendly. I would come back when the weather is nicer and if I'm in the area. read more

Although beautiful and the drinks were delightful. I wasn't impressed upon my arrival when I stood at the hostess stand for 10/15 minutes while 3 of the OHV employees stood at the bar talking. One obviously saw me standing there looking confused. Until two other patrons arrived and I saw that it was a self seat situation. Later on, my friend and I were standing at the bar waiting to be helped. Almost 10 min goes by, nobody else at the bar but several behind not asking if we needed anything. Then a rude gentleman approaches and asks for a root beer, they all stop what they're doing to assist this man. Considering my brother and my now sister in law had their wedding here last year. This was definitely not the same good feelings I had after leaving. Do better. read more

Beautiful grounds. So peaceful. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. While they aren't yet doing tastings (they'll start again on July 9th!) There were still many beverages to choose from. We had been coming here for many years and actually just dropped it from our rotation a couple of years ago, so when we had the opportunity to meet up with old friends here, we came once again. Last we were here, they just started to open their brewery, but had the distillery. On this visit we were able to sit in their adults only area in their newest building. The Irish-themed bar and pub house style is amazing! Decorated perfectly and is large. It was nice to see the same owner still running things and to also see they have some amazing food being offered by The Green Ribbon. The Green Ribbon offers a large menu with lots of fresh items! Just as in the past, the drinks are nice, the venue is welcoming, the staff is friendly and it's an amazing place to come, hang out and enjoy some adult beverages while catching up with old friends! read more

We came here midweek not really knowing what to expect. We were thankful to have had this gem almost to ourselves. There were about 15 to 20 locals here. A great sign. The wine selection is very nice and the wines are top notch. The wife got a flight. I went the beer route. Had a cranberry orange sour and a mango IPA style. Both were excellent. We threw in a brick oven pizza that was also superbly tasty with a fine charred crust. I should know because I managed an Italian restaurant with a brick oven. Word of advice. If your hungry get two. They are priced well and as I said, they're super tasty. More of a single size though. Overall I would give Old House 10 stars of I could. Make the trip. Enjoy the lovely outdoor setting. Positives: Service was prompt and friendly. The place was clean. Negatives: We ordered the crab dip, and it looked like it was just a frozen meal thrown in the oven. Didn't find or taste any crab. Chips had a faint plastic aftertaste. The stout tasted like a normal beer, not like a real stout. The vibe was awful. There was some strange music playing, just sounding depressive. Days of our Lives or some soap was playing on the TVs. Maybe it was the day and time we came, but there must have been a special for senior citizens. My wife and I were the only ones under 40. This a great place to bring kids and dogs and there are generous grassy picnic area with large while tables-many with colorful umbrellas. Many large growth shade trees were much appreciated. Many sandwiches, dips, chips of all kinds available and i did enjoy a pimento/cheddar cheese dip $7.00 but chips and breads extra $3 - 6.00. Cheese Fondue at Old House has made February special for years. Sitting in front of the fire -- either at the old farmhouse or the newer pub -- and enjoying a bottle of one of OH's many wines with lovely bread, fruit and veggies dunked in the fabulous cheese made for a perfect afternoon. The wine and the fondue are still terrific. Sadly, it is now offered only in The Taproom, a large and noisy venue with all the ambiance of a high school cafeteria. Went here on Sunday, the vineyards has very spacious area to enjoy a class of wine or bottle if you are with friends. I order the blanc of wine which was tasty, not so sweet, a little crisp. The outside has also has plenty of space table available to enjoy a beautiful summer or fall weather. The vineyards has pub which is great for beer drinkers and a distillery on location. The restaurant has restaurant on location, which can order a good meal. I order a burger with green salad, great taste plenty for one person. I also order fries which was hot and good taste. The vineyards has plenty of parking and of course you can bottle to go. My meal was average$25.00, will definitely come back of the area. read more

Wonderful space back off Rt. 3 near Culpepper. Lovely views of the hills. Huge space with, at least, three places to get a drink. There's a brewery that sells basic picnic supplies (cheese, crackers, water, etc.). There's also a restaurant attached that has sandwiches (looked like a variety--vegetarian, seafood, meat, etc.). There's a distillery that is 21+ only, but the outside doesn't restrict for age. I saw dogs and kids. I did not see any baby changing tables, so that it is a downside, but maybe they keep them near the restaurant. There's also a very pretty area near a pond. There's also an array of tractors and few old military vehicles. Make sure to go into the distillery where they have a small military museum. read more

Being from NorCal - we are so spoiled by the abundance of amazing wines and vineyards in wine country. I was curious how this vineyard would compare and I was pretty impressed! (Apparently, there are lots of wineries all over VA - really awesome!). The property is very charming, serene, and gorgeous! It was a bit tricky (and scary) to get into the vineyard as the road is very bumpy and pretty much only enough space for one way traffic. One you make the trek though you will be rewarded with breathtaking views. The tastings were very reasonably priced and the wine was quite good. I tried a rose and the pour was very generous. We ended up purchasing a bottle of red to take home. We also got to try their whiskey (bottled right at Old House!) which is not my cup of tea but my partner enjoyed it. We were in town for a wedding celebration and the weather held up nicely (there was scattered thunderstorms in the forecast). It is such a beautiful venue for a wedding. They also have a dock where they have locks that couples can place on there and throw the key away (because why would you need it right? LOL). TIP: Bug spray - lots of it or be prepared to be lunch! read more
