WHAT A PERFECT HIDDEN GEM. Fantastic wine & friendly staff. Flights, tastings, slushies, cheeses, visitor food trucks, and occasionally have the Tiki Bar open. The Red wines - 1734 and Green & Royal are my favorite. Located in Orange County, in the country, but truly worth the drive! Relaxing setting, indoor & outdoor seating available, and they have a puzzle table which is a great way to build & meet others. ‍

What a nice surprise. We really enjoyed this winery. Tasting left us happy to purchase a case. We enjoyed every wine we tried. The Chardonnay was different than most and we really enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Met the owner he was so down to earth. He really left us feeling that he appreciated our opinion and business.( I hate pretentious places which some of the wineries have been) plenty of indoor seating can't wait to come back with friends when it's warmer and sit outside. There was a food truck but we didn't try as we brought our own allowed snacks. Stop here it's worth it.

Some tables also have umbrellas. All very well spaced apart. And room for picnic blankets, too.

Down a country road and then a nice long driveway through some pasture, this was exactly the getaway we were looking for. Had very safe distance between outdoor tables with shaded umbrellas alongside norton vines. Delicious tastings and great prices, too. They also sell cheese, crackers and meat. Great spot.

Another great photograph by my wife.

They are doing a great job of growing varietals that do well in central Virginia, Petit Manseng, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, etc. I tasted most of their white wines, and liked ALL of them, which is quite a surprise for this California boy. They are creating some really nice variations, like Petit Manseng (2024 vintage) that does not hit you over the head with pineapple, and has great balance. Their Pinot Gris had a strong fruit component and more complexity than most, good acid without making your mouth pucker. The Viognier is less performed and drier than most, with good body and balance. They serve charcuterie that is locally prepared, and have a large cheerfully tasting room with comfortable couches and fireplaces for the winter. It's air conditioned and very comfortable right now, with great views of the vineyards. This is a family owned vineyard, and Noel and his wife and son were all charming and knowledgable. Strongly recommended! Ask them about the horse track next door, and you will learn some local history and family background that is not well known in the area.

My favorite was the 2023 Norton. My husband's favorite was the 2023 Got Everything, a blend of several varietals. At first look from the parking lot, you'd think it was a tiny place. But once inside you feel how big it is. The upstairs has a cozy area with couches. The large nearly floor to ceiling windows face west to watch the sunset. You're also facing the barn with a large field and rolling hills. The horses and cows have plenty of acreage to roam. It's mid fall, but when the sun came out the large patio was warm enough to enjoy the outdoor seating. They had live music and a small bbq tent set up. Both were great. Definitely coming back again.

The wines are excellent and there are several tasting options you can choose- I believe there was a red flight, a white flight, and a "signature" option that had both. You also have the option to build your own flight, which I always love. The 2024 rosé is a standout, we picked up several bottles to bring home. We could not believe how good the food was- it was worth a trip in its own right! It's on the pricier side but it is clear why, the plates wouldn't be out of place at a fine dining restaurant. We also had the kindest server, Chelsie, who made our experience so special and memorable! She stopped by to chat several times, gave us great recommendations, and she could not have been nicer to me and my friends. I had been to this vineyard once years ago and remember really loving the tasting we got and the views. We came back for some wine and to explore the ruins. We really wanted to sit outside and were told they weren't doing outside service and that we had to go to the barn corner for outdoor seating. We bought a bottle of their tasty and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc. It was way too loud at the outdoor seating by their barn, so we tried to sit on their library patio. Turns out they were still serving on the patio. This was a bit of an upsetting miscommunication, but the server was sweet and told us we could stay, but had to sit further down. I didn't like feeling like we weren't allowed to be somewhere so this slightly marred the experience. However, once we settled in, I really enjoyed reading with a glass of wine and pretty views. Exploring the ruins after was pretty fun too. I wish they had a little more history on a plaque nearby. There was a sign that just said it was the governor's home that burned down on Christmas day.
