We ended up having breakfast here two mornings on our long weekend in Bristol. Pretty easy to find on a main road but prepare for a wait on Saturday morning. I estimate they have 10-12 tables. Only open for breakfast and lunch, Monday through Saturday. On our visits, there were three servers, two behind the counter cooking and another employee bussing tables/cleaning. They all moved in perfect motion with each other. If you can get past all the Trump memorabilia for sale at the cashier's desk, you will enjoy your breakfast here. The two of us had coffee and a meal for less than $20 total.

Passing through Bristol and we had to stop here based on the reviews. When your server is same one who gets up at 3am to bake the bread, this is a spot you have to try. Friendly and fast service, this is a small but bustling spot. I had the 4oz bacon cheeseburger and appreciated the perfectly cooked bacon on it- the lettuce was crisp and the tomato was so ripe! It's small but a perfect little package. Paired with hand cut fries for a perfect little lunch. My husband had the Loaded Hash Browns with the house baked bread - delicious! I had the veggie omelette and got the homemade toast which was a nice touch and so delicious! The decor is interesting to look at. It was fun to explain to the kids who some of the people in the pictures were. Overall a fun, good place to eat.

The burgers were so good! And the fries! And the home made bread! And the service is friendly and efficient. But the coffee was no bueno.

If you're travel through (or near) Bristol TN, do yourself a favor and stop at the Old Lighthouse Diner for some great breakfast food. It's everything wonderful that comes to mind when you think about classic diner! The owner, and his family clearly work very hard to give their guests a great experience from start to finish! read more

I have passed by this place so often. The outside definitely did not suggest what lies within. As I entered I was greeted not only by one but three different employees. I immediately knew this was going to be a great experience. The menu and selections were plentiful. As I ordered my coffee from Tina so I could peruse the menu, I took in the decor. It was definitely diner themed but clean and bright. No greasy spoon feeling at all. Tina was prompt in taking my order and refilling my coffee. The food I ordered was simple but done perfectly for a very reasonable price Definitely a return visit or two is warranted read more

This is a good place to eat breakfast; however, it is more expensive than Cracker Barrel. I understand that Cracker Barrel is not the best ever, but just to give you reference on price. The food is about as good as Waffle House. Also; the bacon had a odd chemical smell and taste. I love me some bacon, but couldn't bare it. The biggest selling points to this place are its staff and location. It's a very easy location to get in and out if. Also; their staff are such very nice people with excellent customer service. I didn't have the heart to tell them that their bacon was bad. Final verdict: Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 Location: 8/10 Customer service: 10/10 read more

THE BEST FOOD SINCE WE HAVE BEEN HERE visiting. This place is reasonably Priced and.....they had gluten free waffles! The service is excellent and you can tell this family owned and operated business enjoys what they do. They have incredible pride in their food and service. We came across the old lighthouse diner as we were traveling through the area and it was a wonderful find! The eggs were cooked perfectly. The french fries were awesome. And where else have you ever been asked how you like your bacon cooked? And then actually get it cooked that way? That's what you get here and it was a wonderful experience! Thank you! read more

To be honest, we didn't try the food. We chose this place based on pics and reviews for breakfast while in Bristol for the weekend. So pumped up and ready to have some awesome pancakes, we walk in to a completely packed restaurant. Every single table occupied. No distancing at all. Not a soul was wearing a mask, including the people working. We turned right around and left. It must be delicious to be packed in a pandemic and not one person seemed phased. Maybe takeout is the way to go if you have any hesitation and a place to eat outside. read more

happy food = happy faces! we stopped in the old lighthouse diner after a restless night staying at the travel inn, it the breath of fresh air we needed. The staff was kind and food was great (the eggs did taste a little bit like fish though.) Once again, this is exactly what we needed after a terrible terrible night at the travel inn. Pls for the love of God do not stay at the travels inn. Great bread though! read more

Wonderful family owned restaurant with a unique decor. Loved the old movie posters, Norman Rockwell pictures and much more. It was like a trip down memory lane, but look quickly because the service is fast and efficient and your meal will be in front of you before you know it. Our breakfast was good and plentiful. Recommended last night by the staff at State 620. This diner is family owned, and ran. Cute 50's/60's feel. Straight up diner food. I ordered the veggie omelette with grits (instead of toast), and a small salad. The veggies on the omelette was sautéed and very good. The small salad is huge. Also, if needed, gluten free bread is available. My husband ordered the veggie burger with homemade shoestring fries. No frills, well cooked, and delicious. This is the gem of Bristol! We visited for a show and ate breakfast here the next day. This place has down home stick to your ribs kind of food that I love. If you are looking for some old fashion southern breakfast food this is the place to go. All the workers were so nice and welcoming and we got our food very fast. We both had the "Kuntry" fried steak and it was so delicious. The breading was light and very flavorful. We also always love to support a veteran owned business. Highly recommend this place for very tasty southern breakfast food. read more

We each had the two-egg breakfast ($4.89?). I made the mistake of saying "yes" to potatoes (extra $4). Other places I go, taters are part of the two-egg plate. Also a little disappointed that one piece of toast comes with two eggs (I'm a "one egg, one piece of toast" type of guy). The Diner has great atmosphere with all the old memorabilia and music playing and the service was great (never saw the bottom of my coffee cup). Our waitress was friendly and we struck up a conversation with her and the cashier when we left. Maybe the 'tater and toast comments speak more about me and where I usually go, so keep that in mind. And, the Diner was the only sit down dinner I found in Bristol that wasn't over $10/breakfast plate. read more

Popped in early on a Monday morning before we headed out of town. We love finding local mom & pop breakfast places on a trip. This one did not disappoint. I had the bacon & cheese omelet and the bacon was crisp, not greasy & plentiful. They have the regular beads but also homemade white, honey wheat & cornbread. I had the honey wheat & it was delicious! The owners soon brought over 2 "heels" of white bread, toasted & buttered for a snack while we waited. Yum! Hubby had the eggs, bacon & waffle with warm syrup. The son was very nice & his service great. Had a good conversation about current events with him. He & his staff kept the diner very clean and the decor was fun. We will definitely add this to our list when we come back next year! read more

We walked out. There are absolutely NO safety measures being taken and in fact it seems to be frowned on. No employees wear masks. No social distancing. Fox News on the television and confederate flags on the wall are not a smart way to make folks feel welcome. Southern hospitality? Southern hostility and ignorance. Truly a caricature of what the world thinks the American South is, but with a side of extra mean. read more
