This is a comfortable, old time, back-when-everything-was-good style of restaurant. It is clean, spacious; the seats and booths are just perfect and the service is wha-chood-'spect y'all. I love the place. The walls are covered in old movie posters and photos of days gone by...and it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg. So, the coffee is good, the unsweetened tea, ditto. The omelette and breakfast 'taters were just fabulous, my wife's sausage links and eggs 'n' stuff was equally as good...and there was real butter on the toast. Stopped here for a quickish breakfast on our way south to a UT football game. I won't lie, I was nervous when there was only a couple tables filled at first and there looked to be only one kitchen staff person, but the place filled up before we left and the food came out pretty quickly. We were laughing about all of the questions with asked by the friendly waitress with each order - do you like your bacon crispy? For example. That just makes sure we get things the way we want them! Where I'm currently staying, it took about 40 minutes to get to the restaurant. It's bright and colorful, inside and out. The staff is friendly and the restaurant appears to be very clean. Foods a little pricey as the portion sizes are small. Food was very good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. It's your classic diner. read more

Let me start with the positive, this place is run by a wonderful family that cares about people. The location cannot be beat & the atmosphere is unique (change is good). The service is very good and you receive your meal fairly fast. We've been here several times because of the owners! Concerning the not so positive, the atmosphere is somewhat distracting, it's not what you'd expect in a restaurant or diner but that's my opinion. The prices are a bit high for the food you get (as in most restaurants). The food is neither great nor bad, just normal (nothing to write home about). Overall, it's a decent joint. I'da love to give them 4 stars because the family who owns the place is so friendly but it needs a little improvement (prices, food quality, atmosphere). 5 stars would be possible but not realistic. read more

update- I originally gave it 4 stars because I thought it's a 'good diner.' But I have changed my mind after three visits in the 5 - day period. Food is not mind blowing but (hey, it's a diner!) it is a darn good, solid diner. We've come twice in the morning and once at noon. This place is BOOMING at lunch time! Each time we've visited, food has been consistently good and the kitchen keeps it up with busy orders fast, too. But I prefer coming at 7 or 8 where it's quiet and you can have a nice chat or two with the cook (owner) or staff (his children). They are such pleasant people that you walk out not only with a full belly, you leave with a smile on your face. I think it's very important to have that "human" experience at a family owned diner! I am visiting Bristol from DC and decided to stop by here because the reviews were good and the food looked delicious. We love southern cooking so much and wanted to try something homey we dont get around where we live. Honestly the reviews didn't lie, I loved the food. We got the Tennessee titan burger and it was the juiciest most delicious burger we have ever had with the onion ring cooked to perfection with the perfect crunch. We also got the captains breakfast, the sausage links were delicious nice and juicy. The pancake that came with it was delicious as well it was airy and fluffy. The scrambled eggs were also delicious they had the perfect seasoning and were cooked to perfection, and I don't really like eggs so me loving that is saying something. Their sweet tea was delicious too, I feel like I keep repeating myself but everything really was delicious. Except for the biscuit and sausage gravy, that was very meh, it didn't have flavor it lacked both salt and pepper as well it was very disappointing. But besides that this place was great I can't wait to try other things off the menu! I'm not giving this place the full 5-stars because I was scared to go in. My boyfriend told me they had Trump stuff all over the Diner and being a poc myself it was very unwelcoming and honestly kind of scary. Ok! Day three of my journey to Nashville and I stopped by at this very awesome diner that I cannot say enough good things about! Gabriel, our waiter, was beyond friendly, knowledgable and talented. The home made white bread they serve was made by Gabriel himself and it was delicious! So, what did I have? I had Pop's famous pork chop with two eggs, a biscuit and gravy and one pancake! I didn't eat it all cause it was a lot but I enjoyed what I could eat tremendously! Hands down, a great place to stop by and enjoy a great meal with decor that just made the experience even better! We spent the last week vacationing in western North Carolina, and on the last night, I realized we would be passing right through Bristol, Tennessee on our way back to New Jersey. We found the Old Lighthouse on Yelp... It was exactly what we were looking for... One last delicious southern breakfast. Pork tenderloin and eggs over with grits and a biscuit, and the huge blueberry pancakes were both great. The owners reminded me of everything I love about the south. They were incredibly friendly, and they fed me some really good food. This is a great locally owned diner that has homemade fresh food and great prices! They have some of the juiciest burgers, and shoestring fries that are great! We got there and were busy. We were a table of 4 placed or order and got our food. Didn't get toast with fried eggs (that's why you need toast). Then came omelets were given to wrong person. Couldn't tell at first one with no mushrooms. So other person ate 1/2 before figured it out. Ok, this can happen. But, after eating one party went up to pay bill and WOW......... Bristol was an overnight stopping point on a trip to see family in Tennessee, and we--my wife, three boys and I--decided to try the Old Lighthouse Diner for breakfast based on the Yelp reviews. It was fantastic, and we made a point to return on our way back through. We tried just about everything between our two trips. Everything was great, but the standouts for me were the waffle and the breakfast sandwich. The waffles have some sort of orange flavor added, were very good. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with egg, ham, the melted cheese spread. At first, I thought it was going to be some sort of Cheeze Whiz, but it is real Cheddar melted in the restaurant and just a thin spread on the sandwich made the sandwich outstanding. Also, the french toast and the biscuits are quite good, and it is obvious that they have an excellent supplier for their meats and breads. It is a family restaurant at which the father cooks and the brother and sister wait tables. The sister waited on us both times, could not have been more nice or friendly, and on our second visit four days later remembered what each of us had ordered. On our first visit, it was my birthday, which meant I was getting up early after an late night of driving, and looking at another four hours of driving before we reached our destination, so not exactly an ideal beginning to a birthday. But our breakfast at Lighthouse started the day off great--they even brought out a chocolate desert and sang for me. The decor includes wallpaper with old movie posters which our waitress explained was custom-designed by her father. All in all, just a great experience. read more

Holy cow! Best diner I've been to in a while! The staf came out and greeted us in the parking lot, and then that friendly attitude continued once we were seated and ordering. The food was quite tasty, and the country ham sandwich on biscuit was a tasty surprise. The home fries were cooked exactly how I like them, and we went away quite satisfied.
