Called in a pickup order for 2 burgers, fries and onion rings. When I picked it up the lady was rude even tho I tipped her for doing nothing but handing me a bag and I thought the price was high so I checked menu prices and sales tax and they charged me double sales tax! Had a fantastic meal here on the way home from a family vacation. It's good ol' country cooking and done exceptionally well. The staff were also super good to our son with autism and were incredibly warm and accommodating to him. The deserts were to die for. Truck drivers we are. Saw this place on yelp and decided to stop. So we gonna see. The waitress is awesome. Bf getting his salad.. she said what ever u want we make it! Nice! I'm trying the sausage gravy n biscuit with eggs n ham. But she chatted us up a piece and mentioned how good the bacon was so... a side of that too please!! Ok the bacon WAS fabulous. This rating is totally about the staff! I felt like I was in the dining room of treasured family members. It was a place I wanted to linger and take in all the hospitality. Went there for breakfast and waitress was busy. She seated us and was not very friendly. Several other customers came in after us. After a 15 minute wait she started taking other customers orders that arrived several minutes after us. We left. Won't return again even though the food was very good on other occasions. It's a little off the beaten path, and if you're like me, you'll lose cell service a few minutes before you arrive at the restaurant, but it's definitely worth the trip. Fortunately, GPS still navigated us there, and it was easy to find right off the road. Everyone at the restaurant is super friendly and wants to make sure you have a good meal and experience. A true diamond in the rough. We stopped in tonight without any real expectations, but we left very pleased with the food and the incredibly friendly service. Neither of us could resist ordering one of the specials of the day from the board, the chicken and dumplings, which came with mashed potatoes and coleslaw for $8.99. We swapped the slaw out for green beans and pinto beans with cornbread, and that was a very good decision because the beans were awesome and the cornbread was moist and very flavorful. The chicken and dumplings came in a very good portion size and the dish was cooked perfectly and not overly salty or gummy like you find in some places. Our waitress and the lady responsible for cleaning the dining room were attentive and considerate, and their friendliness to the other customers in the restaurant and on the phone made our experience that much better. I overheard the waitress asking one older lady if she could help the women bring her to-go order out to the car for her, and that kind of service is not always found, especially on a night when it's barely 20 degrees outside. We grabbed some homemade peanut butter pie and one of their blizzard-like ice cream sundaes to go as well, and neither of those disappointed. It's rare that you find a place that seems so humble, yet hits everything spot on. We definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in the Abingdon area and would like some unpretentious southern food. read more

Friendly staff. Never a wait and the French toast could make a tadpole slap a whale. I love that breakfast is served all day. I go here every chance I get! The only bad thing I can say is that sometimes they buy that lite maple syrup. But they always have the good syrup in the back.
