This is a speak easy next to Scopa Italian Roots. You will need to make reservations and it's a smaller room with A LOT of high end alcohol to try. Worth a visit if you're looking for an evening out. Check out my pics.

Great small bar. Intimate with a great no cell phone policy! Amazing selection of whisky and bourbon. Bartenders were great.

Ask the Community - Old Lightning

Hi, What is the maximum occupancy?

I would guess 15-20. There are a few couches and a few bar chairs and that’s it.

Do they play music? What genre?

When I was there it was generally older music - '60s-'80s. Pop and R&B. I wanted to Shazam some of the songs but they don't allow phones.

Is it better to sit at the bar or a table?

There are very few seats at the bar. If you would like a space to talk and just more space in general for you and your friend to be comfortable and relaxed, I would sit at the lounge chairs with tables. If I recall correctly there were regular…

Does this place serve any food? If so, what is it like?

Just complementary nuts and dried fruit.

What is the email address needed to make a reservation/get on the list?

RESY, you can download the app from the Apple app store or Google play.

The Lincoln House | (Utility Room) - 9/10…read more Hidden in the back of the Lincoln house the utility room is a quaint get away from downtown covina. The speakeasy is unique and even serves full menu of great food! Aesthetic & Ambiance: 9.5/10 - it was very prohibition themed and the menus being price/luggage tags was very fun. Came on a saturday night at 6:30 reservation and it was very quiet with us being the only table most of the evening. The outside restaurant has live bands which can be a little loud. Service: 100/10 - Markley was the bartender and the only one who operates the speakeasy, she's not only the best bartender Ive had custom drinks from, but she also makes each individual product herself. She explained every part of the drinks and ingredients, and even offered to make any kind of drink we'd want if there was nothing on her menu. Drinks: 10/10 - if you like cocktail bars this is it...EVERY drink was a unique in flavor and handcrafted by Markley from steep to serve. house-infused liquors and tinctures- ONE OF A KIND BAR Food: 8.5/10 - all around great some dishes better than others Bread & Butter - 9/10 great toasted sourdough with a garlic butter and the butter was perfect salty-addition. Calamari - 7/10 a little too breaded for my liking with the rings and tentacles being a little dry. Deviled eggs: 7.5/10 interesting they were fried, but had great flavor all over Mongolian Beef: 8/10 very good flavor, and rice was tasty, but the sauce was a little salty. Cajun chicken pasta: 9.5/10 chicken was tender, pasta was cooked perfectly, sauce was delicious, and the sausage was a great addition. I'd easily drive an hour from LA again to come here!

Energy goes way up with it though. Music is consistently great and the crowd matches it. Mostly a younger, high-energy vibe. If you actually want to enjoy your drinks and maybe chat with the bartenders, show up early. Once it gets going, it's all motion and noise. It's never disappointed us. You kind of know what you're signing up for, and it delivers every time. Ambiance leans classy without feeling vintage. Dim lighting, a touch of rustic, and just enough polish to set the tone without overdoing it. They've got a patio too, which comes in clutch when you need a breather or want to actually hear the person next to you. We usually do street parking and it's not too bad if you're willing to walk a bit. It was initially confusing when we arrived, because there was no host on shift, and we had to ask the barista inside where we should be going. After taking a peek in the actual downstairs basement tavern, we opted to sit outside under the eclectic mix of chandeliers, heat lamps, and lightbulbs, instead of the empty smoky basement. There was a live pianist playing in the front lawn, which was amazing and pretty much made the night. I don't know if it's a regular thing, but if it is, I'd definitely come back just for that. Probably since it was a weekday night, the place was pretty deserted, but we didn't mind - it was like a private show with plenty of seating options. The happy hour food was awesome. We got a bunch of appetizers to share, and there was plenty of food. Our favorite was probably the grilled octopus and calamari, and the brussel sprouts were amazing. The fish tacos and ceviche were not bad, but tasted basically the same. Our server was really sweet. In the future, I would come in a group of three since it seems like all the appetizers come in multiples of three and it would have been more easily shared between us.

A casual speakeasy next to the Venice sign that serves decent drink with a pool table…read more Cocktails are nothing exquisite (not watered down, nice). It's just a great speakeasy without loud music that you can hold conversation during the weekdays (not sure about weekend, also never been to their rooftop). I think drinks selection here are a bit limited to my tastes in terms of cocktails, their speciality cocktails aren't unique. Service is standard, no attitude. Ambience is cool, dimmed, casual and somewhat intimate. The bar and bathroom are clean, nothing to complain about. Wouldn't travel all the way to here for this but would stop by again if I happen to be in the area, if I want somewhere not loud and don't want to be interrupted. Overall, there are other bars on the same street. So it's not a bad idea to start here and bar hop, if you want to be elsewhere that's more vibey.

I m immigrant living in LA still exploring places and today after a long time immigrancy ending I wanted to come out and visit market place to feel alive a bit. I was walking down and I saw party and events I thought public event going on like always tried to walk in and these security probably newly began and took his role extreemely seriously and forgot the point of his occupation. I was trying to ask questions and he started to shout and thought im trying to go in and he tried to touch me push me mistreat me and started to shout as much as he can "take this dumb woman from here , take this dumb woman from here !" I Immediately wanted to escalade it to manager or supervisor . Manager said said his name is Kevin. I did not quiete believe he was a manager I never seen such non-responsive manager. I told him situation and I asked what was the securitys name so that i can report to police . I reported 911 and waiting for them to come . They did not show up, kept report most unlikely. Security was extremely rude and extremely abusing the way he shouted as if I was an enemy from other place that attacked him and as if this was land matter that he started to shout as "Take this dumb woman from here take this dumb woman from here " ! This is not how you treat woman , nor immigrant , nor a USA champion nor any human. That was embarassing behaviour to be example of LOWEST quality as in my standarts and that kind of places will only think of profit of you but never your customer satisfaction. I m abused tonight by security I have had extreme pain all other next days couldnt do my workouts. All I wanted was having fun like some other people. I devalued and degradeded my quality standart by coming to this bar . No wonder no celebrity goes there anyway, maybe he was right I was dumb to go there. This wont occur again. By the way Manager Kevin was extremely irresponsible , non responsive and never cared of the situation and I have never felt more like "piece of garbage" in my life. This is my experience in townhouse, as well establish internationally recognized athlete believe myword .
