You can take your time looking around even though you have a timed tour as there is a studio tour every 10 minutes. When you're ready for the tour, you go to an auditorium to see a short video about the studio and the history. This is updated with recent films (I saw a relatively different video when I went here 2 years ago). You then ride a long cart with other people in your group and your tour guide drives the cart around the lot. There are stops in different areas in the Warner Bros lot and you go down and walk with the guide. Photo opportunities are there as well. Different film/TV clips are also shown on the cart as you go through these iconic spots seeing how they were used in these films/TV shows which is cool. After this, you go to another studio where a Central Perk Cafe, a museum, and souvenir shop are located. You can take your time here as well. You then proceed to the next part of the tour. If you bought Superman experience, you go there. If not, you then go to spot where there's a Friends' couch and have pictures taken there. Next is the more interactive part where there's Harry Potter sets, some figures of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. Costumes and cars can be seen here as well. You'll end again where you entered and there's another huge souvenir shop with different toys, shirts, mugs, magnets, key chains, and so much more. Items are cute but can be pricey. Allot 3 hours for the entire experience without the Superman experience (since we did not do that).

Em, our tour guide, was personable and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more engaging. We were able to visit the set of Friends (one of my favorites) along with another sitcom set, though I can't recall the name. I do wish there had been more sets included on the tour. The experience is a mix of guided and self-paced exploration, which offers a nice balance. It wraps up with a gift shop at the end. Overall, a really enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

Typically running about 45 minutes to an hour, the studio tour is a perfect break from escalators, lines, and walking around Universal. The guides are funny and engaging and though they usually touch on the same things, I find that each guide has a way of making the tour their own. I always enjoy going through the lot and getting a glimpse of what's being filmed, while also learning about the iconic movies, shows, and even music videos that have utilized the lot before. As a huge fan of Desperate Housewives, my favorite set is Colonial Street. While I'd love to see some updates or new things on the studio tour, having been on it more times than I can count I can still say it's my favorite ride and the thing I look forward to the most at USH.

You still the psycho scare, a look at the faux NYC filming backdrops, and or course Jaws. Which warms my cold nostalgic heart. I really enjoyed the 4-D King Kong adventure in the beginning, but I really missed the giant animatronic King Kong that I remember seeing as a kid. Make sure to sit in the second or third tram car. We were placed in the first tram car and basically missed everything from the flood to Bruce the shark jumping out of the water. My wife and I enjoyed the ride, but our kids (5 & 7) were over it after about 20-minutes. Shout out to our tour guide for all of the knowledge and fun behind scenes anecdotes.

It may have been because I was picked for Ollivanders and even sorted into Slytherin. The first day we splurged on the VIP Experience and the second park day we had the Express Pass. When the tour guide said in the beginning that VIP was the best way to go to see Universal Studios he was so right! Sam was our tour guide and Patrick was the tour guide of our buddy group as you share the Studio Tour trolly with them. This made for a more intimate tour and I loved that it had sections you deboard to explore! We visited The Good Place and even the prop warehouse (no pictures). What an amazing way to experience for the 60th Anniversary of the Studio Tour. Besides the amazing Studio Tour and unlimited Express Pass, the VIP Experience includes a buffet style lunch at Moulin Rouge that was ultimately our favorite meal the whole weekend between the park and Citywalk. Quite frankly, we likely would book for that being one of the main factors! Plus, they offered water bottles throughout the Studio Tour and at lunch. Great to keep us hydrated and ready to enjoy all that Universal Studios Hollywood has to offer. If you can afford this, book it!

I want to share how incredibly well organized our day was time wise and I really appreciated how our guide described the rides ahead of time so we could make informed decisions on whether or not to ride. Danny was such a lifesaver being our personal locker while we were on attractions SO I do recommend to not carry too much. He also was incredibly patient with our questions, potty breaks, and most importantly dealing with the kids! It was great having iced water available in a chest at all times for our convenience. Shout out to our parking valets Vince and Juan who made both check-in and check-out an absolute breeze! From the moment we stepped inside the VIP Lounge, we felt like royalty. They placed an "It's My Birthday" pin on my mom, and throughout the day, at least 40 employees wished her a Happy Birthday. She felt so special. Our tour guide was Kyle, and he was efficient, friendly, and accommodating. Our group consisted of 12 guests total, which was the perfect size. We first did the rides. I was worried that some might be too rough for my mom, but Kyle was great about letting us know how each ride was and asking if anyone in our group wanted to skip a ride. We did a total of 6 rides -- Jurassic Park, Mummy, Transformers, Mario Kart, and two Harry Potter rides. My mom ended up doing all of them with no issue! The best part is that we didn't have to wait in lines at all, and it was Thanksgiving week so it was a busy day. Then we broke for an hour-long buffet lunch, which is reserved for VIP guests only. The food was delicious, and there were characters like Dracula and Lucy (from "I Love Lucy") walking around and greeting everyone. My mom grew up on Lucy, so getting to meet her was amazing! Next, we did the lot tour on a luxurious tour bus with another group of 12. It took us through the King Kong 3D experience, the Jaws set, and an earthquake simulation, among other cool stops. Fortunately, it wasn't much walking as we were all a bit tired by this point. The full experience was around 6.5 hours, but we were engaged from start to finish. We were extremely impressed with Kyle's coordination of the entire day. After the tour was over, we checked out a few shops and did the Simpsons ride and did the Harry Potter ride again -- since our VIP passes allowed us to continue to skip the lines for the rest of the night. It honestly could not have been a more perfect day! I highly recommend the VIP Experience!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience here at Rubel Castle. Our host, guide,…read moreand local "Rubelligent" volunteer, Ms. Kathleen had all the intel about this historical property. She was so knowledgeable and helped set the stage for us to slip into a forgotten era and get a glimpse of how imagination met inventiveness with a DIY charm. ~ A LITTLE BACKSTORY FOR YOU ~ It's not pronounced Rubel as Barney from Flintstones. Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. To book, visit RubelTours.org and make a reservation. ~ OUR TOUR EXPERIENCE ~ It's as if Michael Rubel, the creator and mastermind of this enchanted dominion had intended it to be--magical. Built in the castle period of wood and tin, every corner captured our interests, from antique cars to the 1890's Seth Thomas Tower Clock with a unique backstory (and only six in existence today). There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom? A castle in Glendora? Yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you--Rubel Castle is real, it's magnificent,…read moreand it's gloriously eccentric. Thanks to the sheer persistence (and probably delightful stubbornness) of Michael Rubel, we now have this quirky, towering State Treasure sitting right in the middle of Glendora like a fairy tale that accidentally took a detour through a hardware store. This place is beautifully done, and part of its charm is that it's a full-on hodgepodge of relics, antiques, crystal trinkets, and "wait... what is that doing here?" moments tucked into every nook and cranny. You'll marvel, you'll laugh, you'll squint in confusion--honestly, it's everything you'd want in a castle built with love, imagination, and a dash of madness. And let's talk about the makeshift cemetery. Quirky? YES. Fun? Absolutely. Slightly spooky? Only if your imagination is over-caffeinated. But it fits the vibe perfectly--like the castle whispered, "You know what I'm missing? A tiny cemetery." The tours are fantastic, the guides are passionate, and the whole experience feels like you're stepping into a living scrapbook of California history and charming chaos. Overall: Amazing, amazing place. Book your tour. They only do tours every first Sunday of the month, so set your alarms, mark your calendars, tie a string around your finger--just don't miss it. Rubel Castle is truly a California State Treasure, and an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates creativity, history, and a little eccentric sparkle.
