When walking the gorge I think they mentioned you cross the river twice so wear water shoes and be careful! It is a more difficult trail to take. But you can swim at the falls if you'd like. My family walked I the overlook two different days during our stay in the area. The waterfalls from above is breathtaking and it is amazing to see how deep the gorge walls are. If you need an easy trail, need wheelchair accessible, or have small kids then the yellow trail to the overlook is the best option for you.

Here in rural Kentucky, about halfway between Louisville and Nashville and only a mile or two off the Interstate, is the creation of Munford native Chester Fryer. He is a stonemason and the stones are set up along compass lines. This is a quiet, residential street and the rock formations are in his front yard. I had seen this attraction on a roadside America site and decided to stop in real quick since it was only 5 minutes off my route. It's a bit over an hour drive from my home city of Lousiville so not too bad. Located a mile or so off the 65 expressway. When you pull in it is like your pulling into a neighborhood and this gem is just Sitting right there. Really cool place and the work they did is great. They did a good job of making this replica of the world famous one in England. I have no idea the motivation or reasoning behind this project. But it makes for a fun quick visit and photo ops. I had two of my 4 girls with me and they had fun running around and checking out the cool rock formations. So it was a really successful and fun trip. If your ever headed from Louisville towards Nashville keep this place in mind. It is before the cave city and bowling Green exits so makes for a fun stop if visiting one of those areas.

We napped in the sun, and watched boats and birds go by. While we did not go up the tower or in the wildlife area, we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing day here. It's a little early in the year, so we didnt see too many people. One note, the two bathrooms we used both had stairs. Im sure they have bathrooms that can be accessed without stairs, but I didn't see them. One note, there are picnic tables near the road to one of the boat ramps. As I was driving through a small child ran out in front of me from between to parallel parked cars. No big deal, I was driving like an old lady, but highky recommend keeping an eye out if you drive through there.

The park has access to a river beach across from a neat dam, where kids were having a great time lifting big rocks and heaving them into the water. The trail was rather steep, went down pretty quickly, flattened for a while, then sharply inclined back up. All in all, I get the feeling we need to return and do a little more, but I like what I see so far!!

This recreation area has some great views and some good picnic areas, however the island across the…read morebridge is completely neglected. Facilities are ok. There are lots of picnic tables in a variety of settings, from open field to hilltop shaded, and some have grills nearby. As you cross the bridge to the narrow island, you will find a mostly secluded trail that runs in a loop along the sides of the island. The further you go, the more neglected the trail. Wear closed toed shoes, as there are some small washouts and lots of poison ivy just off and sometimes on the trail. On the north side, there are small caves and cliffs that make a beautiful juxtaposition with the lake and woods. I recommend sticking to the north (left) part of the trail and going to the small caves and then turning around from there. The deeper you go, the more neglected the park, including ruins from a campground. Near the bridge there are rock shelves that make swimming or wading easy for all skill levels and ages, just be aware that the rock shelves create sudden drop-offs into deeper water. The swimming area is roped off on one side to minimize concerns about boat traffic. The lake is refreshing on hot days, so have a picnic and then dip your feet. All in all, this park could five stars if it wasn't so neglected. It's still a nice place for a picnic and a swim or a boat trip from the ramp.

There is a dirt path that goes around the island and there are beautiful views of the lake and the Dam. There are even a few caves (one has a picnic table inside of it. The swimming area is small, but very relaxing. The water is shallow, so it felt like bath water. There is a day fee on the honor system. $5 per vehicle and $2 if you walk in.

Not yet heavily used other than for special events but I think that is because people don't really know about it yet! Nothing else like it for some distance. We came down for the big 2017 Solar Eclipse and loved utilizing this park the day before the event.
