The food was around 4 stars, but my service and treatment left a lot on the table, and none if it was my change. We called in to get carry out and I'm glad we did. We got some Sunday dinner and there was a band playing. As soon as I walk in, I get stopped and get told there's a $5 cover charge. No biggie I explain I called ahead and she directed me to the bar to get my food. (When I ordered over the phone they didn't tell me my total, there's a 4% additional fee for credit cards) The bartender takes my name and goes to grab my food, she comes back with food and total. Of course I didn't have perfect change ready and gave her extra. She took my money to the register and just left me stranded and out to dry. I finally found another employee to right their wrongs, he grabbed her and she went back to the register. She comes back and shoves my change across the bar. There is nothing like supporting local. But when that local place also has heart and great food it is unmatched. I reached out in hopes to surprise a friend with some of their famous food and the response was quick and friendly. I soon came to learn so much more about them as people and business owners. Yes!! This is the quintessential Midwest neighborhood dive bar serving up excellent food and drinks. The bartender (Andy I think) was welcoming and friendly. There were a few local regulars inside that we struck up a conversation with. My husband had come to grab a carryout for Taco night and had our little dog with him. They seemed disappointed we didn't have our dog with us this time (he is a charmer!) but we spent an hour getting tips on everything we needed to do in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area. So onto the food and drinks which is the important part. It's really good. Really really good. The Ruben had chunks instead of slices of corned beef that is made in the house. That morning that corn beef was cooked low and slow all day until it was just tender cuts of meat. Get yourself the Reuben. But there's also the Cubano sandwich and that was excellent as well. I only had a bite of my husbands because I was too focused on my own sandwich but the bite I had confirmed that the Cubano was another good choice. Monday's are taco night. We did a carry out and everything was packaged up carefully when we got back to our hotel. The prices were great. 4 pork belly tacos for $9 and 4 beef tacos for $5? That's a steal! Drinks were reasonably priced and they had different drink specials. I seem to recall beer specials but I don't drink beer so didn't pay close attention. Come for the live music, stay for the food and neighborhood dive vibes. I really enjoy hanging out here. The owner and her staff are super nice. The food is tasty - the specials are always over the top too. And the vibes are immaculate. Usually when I'm here it seems like a similar collection of people each time. Honey and I decided to try something different last date night. I had heard a lot from my musician friends how we should try the Old Neighborhood Pub. And any place that supports live music is good enough to at least try. And we were pleasantly surprised. The tavern is a typical neighborhood tavern, thus the name is appropriate. This isn't fine dining and the tavern looked appropriate for the theme. What we didn't expect was the great service and food. We met the owner who was also our server and she was a really cool person. Her name is Drea and she was a blast Not only did she give us special attention but was very informed about her offerings, and helped us decide what to order. We are an older couple and don't eat much, so we ordered an appetizer of chicken wings and onion rings and Neighborhood Cob salad. The wings were above average and the onion rings mostly average. But the salad was huge and to die for. Even sharing we couldn't finish it and took half of it home, and it was only $11!. And the blue cheese dressing was top notch. The customers were typical neighborhood regulars and Drea knew everyone in the place. It was an unexpected pleasant experience, and we plan to revisit to try one or two of their top sellers when we get a larger appetite. Because if we can't finish a salad together, we're going to have to plan to be hungry before ordering their legendary Cubano sandwich. Went to the old neighborhood pub for lunch today. The food was great, especially the Tacos. The service was top-notch.

I love going to Old Neighborhood Pub or ONP as everyone calls it. They have an awesome menu with tons of choices of different delicious foods/meals. They have really good craft beer as well as a good variety of beer for everyone's different tastes. Also, all of their staff are friendly and kind! I especially love the atmosphere and the specials everyday. They also have a nice patio outside for good weather days. Stopped here the other day on a bike ride. They have a bike rack right out front. The patio area is spacious and they have the misters on surrounding the area on hot days! Mondays you can get 4 tacos for $5 or other taco deals including a foot long taco! I think that's a must try soon! Staff is very friendly and takes care of you. I'd been wanting to.try this place for a long time and finally got the chance. The menu is limited, but they have great looking daily specials. It looks like just a small neighborhood bar, nothing special but don't judge a book it's cover. The daily special was a grilled tenderloin with smoked gouda on ciabatta. It came with either a sidevsalad or fries. The salad was certainly a surprise. Micro greens with house made dressing. Thevsamdwiches were perfect. Great seasoning and the flavor was unbelievably good. The fries were thick crinkle cut with light seasoning. They were great. Fried nice and crispy. Thevstafg is super friendly and helpful. We got food I would expect in a much higher end restaurant in a friendly neighborhood bar. I'll definately be returning and often! read more

This is my favorite little neighborhood pub, it's great to finally have a place with food back in the area. The food is much more than you'd expect from the unsuspecting pub, home made soups, great burgers and the daily specials are always excellent. They have a good selection of craft beers on tap as well as bottles and cans. They also have Golden Tee, billiards table and a dart board for entertainment and have recently started having bands on Sundays from 4-8. A true diamond in the rough. read more

Unfortunately a strange case of photos are deceiving. My Rueban was dry with too much meat, no obvious 1000 island, a few shreds of kraut. We were staying at an an air bnb so the fact that that I had no salve to add was a bummer, same without ketchup. They didn't give me any. My wings were over cooked and dry chewy. I was excited to try this place. I heard that the food was great and the atmosphere had really changed from Patty's. Both, not true. Ordered the patty melt which was just ok with a big Berger. The sides were extra, had the ONP onion rings. My pal had the special of the day, fish sandwich and fries. Both the onion rings and fries were nothing special and from a plastic bag from the freezer for sure. The fish sandwich was the same. Hard to get attention from the staff, more interested in the regular customers. I did see a poor kid on a leash. Kind of like a big foot sighting. I'd never seen that before! The excitement is over.
