Would get here early, lot tends to fill up fast. It feels a little crowded once it fills up. Pros: Bathroom/outdoor shower facilities. Bathroom was average beach bathroom cleanliness(i.e. could be better but could be worse). Has snack bar if needed Parking lot close to shore Warm water(i believe around 72-73 when we went) Sand was white and soft. We got here around low tide where it was a little too calm for the kiddos in our group who wanted to boogie board. Luckily as the day progressed more waves came to play around in. It made for a good balance for both smaller kiddos and older ones.

Very cute and a nice place for sunset !Be aware that this beach has 2 parking lots, one for the residents and one for the visitors.I would recommend to get there before 9 AM if you want a parking spot .Visitors side has more rocks when you enter the water and it's smaller than the residents one .

Best beach in the Cape! Absolutely love it. Beautiful sand bars, water is gorgeous. It reminds me of the Caribbean Sea.

Soft white sand that doesn't get too hot regardless how hard the sun is beating down, cabana boys/girls, drinks in hand, clear, clean water....can't get much better than this! Old Silver Beach has been my favorite beach to come to in the continental U.S. (just shy of first place, which is a beach in Puerto Rico)! OSB is clean and well kept. When you step foot onto the beach, you're greeted by a cabana boy/girl who grabs you as many lounge chairs as needed and umbrellas to stick in the sand if wanted. The beach fills up pretty fast so if you're looking for a front row seat right next to the water, you're likely best to get one if you arrive early. The ONLY thing about the beach that some may not like are the minnows. In the shallow current near the sandy beach, are millions of minnows, swimming in schools. They're everywhere. But--they're also harmless! So no need to be afraid.

In my opinion this one of the best beaches in all of New England for the following reasons: proximity, warm water, and not too many rocks. What's great about this beach is it's on the beginning base of Cape Cod so traffic shouldn't be as much an issue as traveling to other parts of the Cape. The water is the warmest I've ever experienced in all of New England. Also, there's not an overkill of rocks so you can easily walk around without watching your every step. It's also ideal if you have small children because the parking lot is right next to beach and so are the bathrooms and the food stand. It's not the biggest beach, but I like that because it's more intimate. It can get crowded depending on what time you get there. Some people may say "it's not the Caribbean"....but you know what? It wasn't too far off on the day I went. The water isn't Turquoise like the Carribean but it's definitely clean and clear enough where you can see through from waist or shoulders down. I'm not saying it's better than the Carribean but the waves were certainly no where near as rough (aka Cancun, Bermuda) and made it ideal for a simple dip in the water or playing with kids.

In my humble opinion as a Cape Codder for 11 years, this is one of the best beaches in Falmouth. The sand is clean and soft, there are few rocks, the ocean is free of seaweed and it's often very shallow with lots of sand bars, making it quite good for children. It's one of the best and EVERYONE knows it. This means, of course, that what little parking there is, is filled up very very quickly. The lot opens at 9am and there is usually already a line. Not a resident? Then it'll cost you $20, each time you go...ouch. The best way to get here is to have someone drop you off, or better yet, get on a bike, you can "park" that free of charge. The only really negative side is that it's really crowded on nice days. You are pretty much guaranteed to be on top of other people and will most likely have to listen to screaming kids, 96.3 The Rose blaring from a radio, and deal with 15 year olds who have smuggled in beer. I think it's worth it however. Best sand out of any of them!

OSB was very crowded on Labor Day ~ despite the $20 parking fee & limited parking. The glistening water was beautiful & watching the sailboats was fun. Water was warm & sand was soft, but there are sharp oyster shells. Wear water shoes to protect your feet. Take chairs & umbrellas.

Beautiful white sand beach in the South cape area. Lots of people come later in the evening to watch the sun set. During the day parking costs $20 but is right next to the beach.

When assessing all the beaches in the Falmouth area, Old Silver has to be the best! This beach has the best sand, the best food stands, and the staff here has to be the most polite. The other amazing things about this beach are that the water is warm in comparison to other Cape beaches and the shoreline isn't as rocky as other beaches. The only downside to this beach is that parking here after 10am is a nightmare. The lines are long but they can usually get people in and out fairly quickly. The last time we came we had to sit in the waiting line for about 35 minutes before we got a spot. Moral of the story, obviously this is a great beach, so show up early. If you can follow that simple advice then you will not be dissapointed with your beach experience.

How early should we get there to get a parking spot? Going on a weekday in early August.

I believe that you can get in to the lot around 7am or so. There are attendants, usually, that come around then.

There are always lots of mothers and kids on that portion of the beach any time of day (it's also fun for anyone that likes to examine sea creatures...even if you aren't a kid anymore). The actual "real" beach part has grown steadily rockier and the shoreline has definitely receded over time so there isn't as much pure sand as there used to be which is too bad, it was one of my favorites back in the day. It still boasts some nice swimming, especially at low tide when you have to walk for a really long time to even get to water to swim in. Not too sea-weedy usually either but again, the rocks abound. There is a lovely view though and you can walk to Black Beach and all the way to Chapoquoit as well (fantastic walk, highly recommended!).

They offered the following - "We have an independent garage building on the property with a beautiful, airy 1-bedroom apartment above it that we are happy to move you to. It is quite an upgrade, as it is much larger, has a big balcony and has its own kitchen." She told me they would move us into that space at the same rate as long as we left a good review. Unfortunately we agreed to this and came upon several issues on arrival. 1 - I was told the unit we stayed in was a higher rate but that is not true. You rent it for $1700/week which is ~243 per night (before taxes etc.). We are being charged ~312 per night which was the B&B rate and did not get breakfast. 2 - The condition of this unit is not good. A. There are no curtains on the door that overlooks the driveway or in several of the bedroom and bathroom windows. It presents a significant privacy issue. B. The tv does not work properly. It posts an error message if you try and change the channel. C. The refrigerator is dirty. D. The condition of the bed is horrific. Throwing a cushion on top of an old worn mattress does not make a great place to sleep. E. There is no shower head so the water just sprays all over the place. The bathroom was also very poorly cleaned. 3. You told me you were not accommodating guests at the inn and that is clearly not the case as the parking lot is full and we have spoken to them. Lots of excuses were made. In their defense - they did credit me back the difference in rates. Overall this was just a disappointing stay.
