We were really looking forward to doing an old-time photo in Gatlinburg -- something fun and unique for our trip. Unfortunately, this place turned out to be a huge disappointment. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely unwelcome. The owner seemed irritated we were even there. His personal music was blasting so loud it was hard to hear ourselves think, let alone have a conversation about the photo packages. When we politely asked a couple of questions about costume options and pricing, he got visibly annoyed and incredibly short with us -- and then, unbelievably, asked us to leave. Just like that. No explanation. No attempt to help. Just rude and dismissive. We weren't being difficult or demanding -- just trying to understand what we were paying for. It's clear the owner has no interest in providing a welcoming or professional experience. If you're hoping for a fun, family-friendly activity with decent customer service, skip this place. There are plenty of other photo studios in town -- ones that actually treat their customers with respect. I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

Terrible booking process. I went in person three times. The first they had a long wait and wouldn't take a next day reservation. I went the next day to book a time and they said an hour wait but then stated a marketing company was coming and gave me an estimated time of 4pm. They texted me around 3pm and said they were available and to text them if I was on the way. I texted I was on the way and that it would take me 10 min to walk there. Once I got there they said I took too long, they didn't text me to cancel and the marketing company got there late. They have no phone number and they are very unorganized in the reservation process. Our photographer was so nice and our family had great chemistry with him! They were able to take our family of 7 for a walk in and he did a spectacular job. (Photos below for example). My only complaint was the price of the photos. To download all digital photos, it was $500 with a $10 sitting fee for each person photographed. This price is not a huge issue, because I know some local photographers charge at least $200 for one person. For what it's worth, I do believe the price is reasonable for a larger party and to get all of the photos downloaded on your phone. If you've never done something like this with your family, I HIGHLY recommend it! :) read more

Out of towners and we had a group of 17, 7 of them were kids... Brandon, was phenomenal! He was amazing with the kids and you could tell he loved his job!! He did a fabulous job and the attention to detail was great! I believe his co worker was named Jay, he extremely patient with all of us! There was another employee, I cannot recall her name but she was a sweetheart! Cannot wait for the email with the link to download the photos! Photo frames for sale were Amish made and some made locally to the area, which was pretty great to see! We purchased the digital package and a few frames on the side. I recently had a less than positive experience with Old Time Photo #5. While visiting the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area with a group of long time friends we decided that the best way to celebrate our time together would be to commemorate our trip with an "Old Time" style photo. We went online to find a place to head to and were pleased to find that not only was Old Time Photo #5 highly rated on Yelp and other online review sites, they were also offering a deal on Groupon. We snatched up the groupon, and the following morning began calling the shop to schedule an appointment. After multiple calls, and messages, with no answer or return call we decided our best bet was simply to head into town and directly to the studio to get our photo. We made our way into the waiting area, and after a few minutes we were greeted by an employee. He asked how many were in our party, and asked if we had an online deal. We responded with 12, and yes, that we had purchased the Groupon that we found online. The employee informed us that our Groupon was only good for a group of up to 10 people, and that the price would be a $120 if we wanted to have all 12 people in the shot. This was non-negotiable, and we would not be able to pay the difference between the normal price of a shot for 10 people and 12 people. We had two options, pay $120, and get a refund for the online deal through Groupon, or ask two people to leave our group. We began to discuss this while the employee waited for us to make our decision. After some less than pleasant discussion, two members of our group regretfully bowed out. What was supposed to be a fun time for all of us to share became an exercise in awkwardness. Not being ones to let a dark cloud hang above our head, we pressed on, hoping to make the best of our experience. I turned to the employee and informed him that we had come to a group of ten and were ready to proceed. This was the point where the employee informed us that although we had come to a consensus on who would actually be in the photo so that they could honor the deal we had purchased, that they were in fact all booked up for the day and there would be no way for them to take our photo. I feel as though this was truly poor customer service. Why would you allow a group to have a painful and awkward conversation if there was no way for you to provide your services to them in the first place? I asked if we were booking for 12, and paying the $120 if there would be time for us to take our photo. The answer was still no. They simply did not have any openings. In the world of journalism there's a term called "burying the lead". Should you decide to attempt to have your photo taken at Old Time Photo #5, do yourself a favor and save yourself from wasting time and creating an awkward situation by asking them if they have any openings that day. read more

I called to make an appointment, not realizing that the shop wasn't open it. I received a callback after they opened. Talk about great customer service. We arrived fifteen minutes prior to our appointment, but didn't go back for our shoot until an hour later, so they were running about forty-five minutes behind schedule. The photographer we had was hilarious. I sadly do not remember her name, but she was wonderful. We kind of told her what we wanted to do, and kind of told her to use her imagination. We were open to almost anything. The outcome of the photos were great. Above what I had expected. We used the current Groupon, which got us one free 8x10, but I ended up buying all the digital photos as well. It wasn't cheap, but she gave us a better deal than what they usually offer, since we were a great group to photograph and since they were behind a bit. I highly recommend this place! read more

Had a groupon voucher for this location which I find very clever to draw in the crowd considering the number of nearby alike old time photo shops. Everyone here was exceptional in service. It was something fun to do for my son's 10th birthday. We told them upfront that we didn't want to waste their time, so the groupon picture is all we wanted. Very friendly and patient staff. There's 4 set "scenes" to choose from, and lots of clean, well-made costumes. They take a lot of shots, so selecting the ones you want is both good (wide selection) and bad (you like almost all of them!). Each shot can be rendered in black & white, sepia, or a washed-out effect with pastels most prominent (you need to see it...I liked it). With the packages, you get a DVD with the photos "unlocked" so you can get more copies of the photos from printing services (drug stores, Walmart, etc). Plan to spend some time. A 2-4 person group session is at least an hour. Larger groups take longer. They can accommodate up to groups of 32. THAT would be a real time sink. This place can get busy, and the waiting area is not huge, so make sure you arrive on time (appointments are required) and ready to start. This is not a fancy place, folks. But, the results are excellent and the packages are affordable. For the ultra-budget-minded set, a great Groupon deal is a available for one photo. Good luck trying to choose just one! read more

Went down to pigeon forge and Gatlinburg and bought pictures for four bandits old time photos and called a week in advance to book a spot they said "ohh yes we have spots give me a couple minutes and we will call you back." They never called back so I called every single day for 5 days and no answer. The lady called me as we were entering Tennessee and said they were completely booked up until the day after we left. I told her the tickets were non refundable. She got completely hateful with me and said "well I don't know what you want me to do". She assumed I bought off Groupon so apparently that gave her a reason to be rude. My friend got hers done there while we were down there since her tickets were non refundable but she was staying a longer trip. The lady was also very rude to her. It is largely our fault for not asking before hand, but the other Photo places are usually much much cheaper, and we assumed they were all similarly priced. We could have gotten professional fall pictures made for the price here. If you are looking for better than average, fun, old time photos, absolutely go here!! Our photographer was amazing we would definitely give him 5 stars! But after our photo shoot we waited FOREVER to look at our pics as the lady behind the desk was chit chattinf with the group looking at their pics and allowing them to take pics with their phone of all their photos as they were being displayed on the screen, now this would be awesome since their photo packages are very expensive so being able to get them on your phone to print would save us all a ton of money BUT.... Apparently that particular group was special as when we finally were called to view our photos and I began taking pics on my phone the lady asks us to excuse her as she proceeds around the corner to cut our screen off!!! Are you kidding me!?!? So they got us for almost 100$ for a couple photos since we weren't special. read more

I bought a Groupon for our family and my daughter bought a Living Social voucher and gifted it to our family members from another state. We all wanted the experience of dressing up in silly props and sharing in the experience together, BUT at the same time we wanted separate photo shoots so we could each take home a picture of just our immediate family members. I called and made appt. 3 days prior, then they text us the morning of the apt. telling us that because we were family we all had to have the same photo shoot and only get one picture, even though we had 2 vouchers from 2 separate sellers. I felt that wasn't right, so they said the manager would call me, of course I never received a call. I tried to call the number that text me from and never got an answer, I even tried to text them before we left for the scheduled appt, again no response. When we arrived for our appt. they refused to honor our Groupon, in fact they said they had cancelled it, and said that they were going to have our Groupon account suspended for not following the rules. They acted as if we were felons because we purchased 2 vouchers for 2 different families from completely different states! All we wanted is for our families to have separate photo shoots and each be able to take home a picture. If I paid for 2 vouchers WHY does it matter that we had one and gifted one to another family member? If our family had different last names they NEVER would have ever known. They manager was rude, tried to blame it ALL on Groupons rules, when I spoke with Groupon gave me the trade in cost on this voucher and said they would be opening an investigation into this vendor and their sister store Four Bandits Photo because there was no evidence that we violated any rules and they would NEVER suspend anyone's account for such silliness!! read more

Isaac and JoAnn were super welcoming. We had a Groupon, made an appointment, and arrived on time. We were in fairly quickly. The session went great and definitely got us out of our comfort zone. Drawback is the price, its insanely too high. I got some of our favorites on digital print and 2 8x10s, even with some negotiating it was over $100, totally blindsided by that as prices are listed nowhere on their website. When we went inside the building the workers were extremely rude and uncooperative not were they willing to work out an appointment time with us, they just kept saying that we needed an appointment.
