My boyfriend and I got a couple quotes from different companies to refinish our hardwood floors before we moved into our new home. Old To Gold was responsive and quick with the quote and although their cost was higher than other companies we talked to, they could get our job done much quicker, which was great as we wanted to get the floors done before we moved everything in. Other companies were quoting us a month out or longer! The job itself was quick and everything went well. There were a few dark spots on the floor that they were able to sand out and finish nicely. We also had them interlace some new planks in a spot where the floors had been removed and never put back. Finally, we also paid them to sink and cover the nailheads that were exposed when we ripped up the carpet. We were able to cut some of the costs by removing the carpet and tack strips ourselves. After they finished the job I did notice a few drips of finish that had hardened on some of our newly painted trim and our side door, which was not a big deal but some might have been more upset about that. Everyone I spoke with at Old To Gold including the manager and the guys who came to our house was professional and polite. read more

Team Old to Gold did a great job refinishing our floors throughout the house. We had carpet through our diningroom and livingroom and very old linoleum in our kitchen. When our contractor discovered there was hardwood under the linoleum in the kitchen we called in Old to Gold to see if they could refinish them for us, the results were amazing! They did a thorough inspection, followed by detailed measurements and came up with a phenomenal price for multiple layers of sanding, before 3 coats of oil based, and two coats of water based sealer. It's a satin finish as requested and smooth as a fresh waxed car. They were professional from start to finish, and I am very impressed. read more

Hired these guys for an option on the flooring at a condo we recently purchased. They gave us a quote and said that the floors would be restored. They came in and after $4000 the smelliest were loose and several issues. They told us flooring wasn't actually hardwood but hardwood laminate. They said it was too thin after repairs. Old to Gold is just finishing up our oak flooring today. The floors were in rough shape, I think the owner had finished them and really didn't have the right equipment or knowledge how to get a professional finish. Old To Gold sent out Mike with a crew of workers that made the worn floors come to life. It was a two month wait to get them out here and a four day process to finish, but well worth the wait, they are now something we can show with pride. Unresponsive. They actually came out to measure for a flooring project and said they would have a quote for us by the end of the day. No quote ever came. We called, emailed, texted... More than a week went by with no acknowledgment of our many attempts to contact them. Eventually we threatened that if they did not contact us they would lose our business, which is exactly what happened. I understand if they are busy, but to not even respond to us for more than a week is unacceptable. If they can't even deliver a quote on time, how could I expect them to install the floor on time? read more

This review is not related to the quality of their work but to their customer service. I contacted them via phone and left a message on a Tuesday and again on a Wednesday (2 different voicemail boxes). I filled out their online form on Wednesday afternoon. In all 3 instances I had the understanding I would be contacted within 24 hours. Finally around 4 pm on Friday they called me - 96 hours from first contact and greater than 48 hours from the last time I reached out. these guys are stand up people. They did my house a few years ago and they did a perfect job stripping and staining our floors. spent 6k to refinish floors. first product (mega one) peeled up off the floor. They had to sand back to bare wood and do over and used Traffic HD. Still have applicator marks and imperfections where the product did not flow out well or self level. Now we have water marks in the kitchen area and were told by Bona directly this is not unusual as it's a water based product and not "waterproof." They really do try and are great people but the Bona product is terrible. The sanding was great, staining was great, but the inconvenience of having to do it over and over and still ending up with issues was awful. Also, wasting 6k on a crappy water based product was really upsetting and now we are left with a floor that is less functional than the scratched up one that was there before we started this whole mess. Just beware of Bona products. Great team, great effort, poor product. read more

We had Old2Gold stain our original, never-before-finished wood floors (which were in decent condition for having been put down in 1941!). We were impressed right away by the professionalism shown by Rowdy, who came out to do our inspection and quote. He was very personable and efficient, and was able to get the quote to us by the end of the same day. Additionally, the quote he provided us was nearly spot-on to what we ended up paying. Old2Gold was able to get us an appointment sooner than we had expected, which was a pleasant surprise, and gave us an accurate timeline for when we could expect the project to be finished. When it came time to pick out a stain, I went to their headquarters to meet with Brandon, who patiently went over the options of staining vs. leaving a more natural look and sealing. He even got down on hands and knees to show me a few examples in the warehouse, and when I couldn't make up my mind, he let his workers know to put down the few options I liked in our home and have me choose at that time. Just as promised, the project was finished on time and the house was astoundingly clean when we got back in. The claim that their high-tech equipment doesn't leave behind dust is 100% true - I was incredibly impressed with it! The finished product was stunning and exactly what I had wanted. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for beautiful floors. read more

In the process of refinishing the 4 bedrooms of my newly-purchased rental property, Old to Gold and I decided the best floor covering would be LVP (luxury vinyl plank) rather than refinishing the soft pine floors. Rowdy, the estimator, and I agreed on a price and his professional team completed the project in two days and ahead of schedule! The new vinyl looks authentic and will be much more durable to tenant use. I highly recommend Nate (the installer) and Rowdy (principal of Old to Gold) if you want to bring new life to your old flooring in Grand Rapids.
