At 100, more family holidays are behind you than in future, so really wanted to send something special to them. (see below) My friend had just barely finished unpacking everything from storage and getting the house prepared for her guests. She arrived home later than planned from too many errands in a new area & grocery shopping. When she saw the arrangement on her doorstep, she said she brokedown crying bc it was so beautiful and it would make the table so special & beautiful. Mind you I had only ordered it a few days prior bc It took awhile to find what I was specifically looking for, a centerpiece arrangement that would be in a cornucopia basket. It was a thing growing up in the 70's, our Mom's had this type of basket that was put on the table every Thanksgiving yet somehow times change, and many moves later no basket. They now had one again, and said it brought back all the good memories from many childhood family Thanksgivings. We discussed ideas, she shared several examples to work with, then consulted with me about what would look best - offering advice based on her years of experience. But it didn't stop there! The funeral home suggested that they'd deliver the flower to the cemetery, but Sonia wanted to ensure they arrived in perfect shape. She coordinated all of the logistics, then even texted me the morning of the funeral to let me know she was en route to deliver them, finally ended with photos once on site. Who does that?! Instead of professionally asking for clarification, the employee seemed to mock my question and made me feel uncomfortable for simply asking about a flower style. She kept asking if I went on their website to check out their flowers. When I told her I did and didn't see the style I wanted. She automatically turned me away saying "okay, I don't know what you're talking about, this is flower bowl not farm girl flowers!." I can sense frustration, and attitude. Which led me ending our conversation. The conversation felt dismissive and unprofessional from the start. The interaction ended with her saying, "Okay, you weirdo, my dear," while laughing before hanging up. Whether it was intended as a joke or not, I found it inappropriate and unprofessional to speak to a potential customer that way. As someone who was genuinely interested in placing an order, I expected a polite explanation or follow-up questions about the style I was looking for. Instead, I was left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Customer service should make customers feel comfortable asking questions, not mocked for them. But here is where things get a bit strange. When I was rinsing out the vase, I noticed two stickers on the bottom. One said Mervyn's $39.99 and the other said Goodwill $8.99. Mervyn's closed many years ago so today's retail value of the vase would be much more. Who knows how it ended up at Goodwill and then made its way to Jory's. I don't have an issue with recycling from thrift stores. I do it myself. What was very odd to me was Jory's did not take a minute or two to remove the stickers. Very tacky. The two other pictures attached are the ones she created for me and how it looked inside the church. It was a very understated, simple but elegant creation. During the delivery, her driver was very much on time and kept me posted me with his status and whereabouts. I wish all small businesses are as professional as her and her staff. I could have bought beautiful roses from anywhere else for much less & taken them myself... the TIMING is important in the florist business (I assume?). I calmly ask to speak w the mgr. & I receive pushback. The lady who answers the phn doesn't want to track down the mgr.; I can just tell her about my issue. So I clearly explain what is wrong & (when asked what should be done) that I expect a partial refund or some form of compensation for my $140 dozen roses delivered a day early before Valentine's Day. Totally different in terms of the shape of the design, amount of greenery, color palette of the flowers, etc. I really liked the asymmetrical and natural style of the online photo while the one my friend received looked like a standard old-fashioned dome shape. Also, I thought the pastel colored lisianthus, astilbe, rosemary, and garden roses were chic choices in the online photo. The bouquet received had brightly colored standard roses and baby's breath that I could have easily gotten at a grocery store. I also paid an extra $20 for extra stems beyond what was shown online. I understand each design is unique and will not match the website exactly - but in this case it was not even close, I would have appreciated a call first if the right person was not available that day to make this arrangement or if they did not have the right flowers on hand.
