I haven't rode this tour since I was a kid and I only remember certain things about it. So it goes to say, I didn't get what I needed to get out of it. So after checking out the Spice and Tea Exchange with my mother, I turned to her and said "Ma, how spontaneous are you feeling right now?". She raised her eyebrows and said, "Why?" I said, "Because I kinda wanna go on the Trolley Tour." She thought about it and said, "...Ok" so off we went to the tour ticket stand. We were really turned off from the package prices for multiple stops and museums and almost walked away but we decided to ask how much it was for just the tour, which happened to be $27/person plus tax. I didn't mind that and she went on to say you could get off and on as much as you want as long as you wear the Trolley sticker on you and it's visible. It was about 2:30 and the last trolley was picking up people at 4:00 so we weren't about that life. We'd ride it the entire time. I also didn't realize that it was 1.5 hours long as well. I definitely don't remember it being that long as a kid. We waited at the stop and in about 15 minutes a trolley pulled up and we hopped on. The tour was awesome and you cover a lot of the city this way. We went into the heart of the city where the Fort is, Flagler College (learned it's mostly women attending there), Lincolnville (where the NAACP and MLK marched in protest), San Sebastian Winery, St. Augustine Distillery, many OLD buildings (oldest house, oldest schoolhouse), and such. I really learned a lot. I tried to wave to some people as they watched us roll by and some waved back. Others just had scowls on their face, geez. Anyway, I can honestly say the tour is well worth it and if you are up to exploring St. Augustine this may be your best mode of transportation. read more

Don't waste your money on this garbage. This is a very expensive tour with a view of homeless people. You can tell the company treats their employees like crap because of their lack of professionalism. You should just ride your bike through town to get a better experience. The agents are rude when trying to purchase tickets. The prices increase in a moment notice and the refund process is a nightmare. Just don't do business with them because I'm a local. read more

I am currently visiting from Missouri, and this tour is perfect for a visitor like myself. This tour was longer than any tour I've been on, which I really enjoyed. I was able to sit back and relax while taking in the sites. We got a beautiful in depth tour of the city & it's history. Our tour guide, who I believe said his name was Sam, was great about telling us all we needed to know. You have the option to get off at any stop you like, and reboard at any time. While completely unexpected this was one of our favorite experiences during our stay in St. Augustine. Not only is it an educational experience to learn about St Augustine and the many historical sites along the way, but also beautiful scenery and very relaxing. My kiddos also enjoyed learning all the unique things about St Augustine as well as getting to your the jail, and fountain of youth. We stopped off to enjoy some Ice cream and a little shopping. The parking was was very convenient and they were all so friendly and welcoming. read more

This is a great way to gain an introduction to the history of the area and see the city. The hop-on-hop-off feature allows further exploration of areas of particular interest. I advise starting early. We started around 10:30 am at Stop 19: the St. Augustine Welcome Center. Last boarding is at 4:30 pm. We rode to the Fountain of Youth park. We disembarked, purchased park tickets, and spent a few hours at this terrific attraction. We reboarded the bus and continued the tour, jumping off briefly at the Old Jail. We jumped off again at Stop 14. From there we walked a short way to a late lunch. By the time we finished there, it was after 4:30. All along the tour, "Preacher" provided excellent historical commentary, with very little of the corniness that sometimes accompanies these tours. Our party of four loved this introduction to this great city. Tomorrow we'll take that information to explore more deeply. read more

The drivers were very informative about the town. We came across three different drivers since we did some of the tours at some of the stopping points. We were able to take pics, learn the history behind the buildings... We had a lot of fun on the "Holly Jolly Holiday Trolley" christmas lights tour. Though we were on the fence as it sounded a bit cheesy AND it was nearly an hour wait during the Thanksgiving holidays, we're so glad that we did it! We were given special 3-D glasses that when you put them on, every single light (including car taillights and traffic lights) all seemed to pop out and dance, making the 3 million lights look even more magical and amazing. We were told that St Augustine is ranked one of the top ten places in the WORLD for their lights display by National Geographic. They also had Christmas music playing and it was just so festive and happy...we were all singing along and cheering as we went by passersby and people dining outside. The driver had us say "Merry Christmas" on his command every now and then which yes was a little annoying but I put away my bah humbug and played along and just had a grand old time! At the end there are free sugar cookies and hot chocolate waiting for you. The tour is only about 45 mins which is perfect--you don't get too cold or bored of seeing the lights come to life. A must-see if you're in the St Augustine area during the holidays! read more

My friend and I got off early on the tour so we decided to stay for the rest of the tour so we could hear all the history. Fun tour! So easy! Loved the flexibility of getting on and off whenever we needed to. Spent most of our time on the tour with the driver named Summer. She was pleasant and shared lots of interesting facts about St Augustine. It was very easy to get tickets. It was very easy to add on other attraction tickets too. No pressure. Did have to wait for a second trolley only once because all filled. But that was also because it was a busy Memorial Day weekend. Didn't have to wait long though. Very smooth operation all over town. We went for the Night of Lights trolley tour the Saturday after thanksgiving. Beware of the traffic! We left 45 min early to travel 2 miles from the restaurant to the trolley and were late. The staff was nice and understanding and made sure we got on the next trolley. Due to intense traffic, the tour took an extra hour and we feel like we didn't see enough and was way over priced for what we saw. We paid about $180 for 2 rows to fit our group of 6. After an hour and a half, most of the people jumped off and walked back. If you are considering doing this for Nights of Lights, perhaps you'll have better luck choosing a less popular night of the week. I don't think it was worth the cost as we could have done the same in our own car or on foot. I'm being generous with the 3 stars as I know the company cannot control traffic. read more

I've been to St. Augustine many times. The city has morphed into a terrible tourist trap. The trolley is no different. $40 for a ride and the answer is that" we have dynamic pricing" it is dynamic alright. Dynamic enough to force a scooter ride......the hotel/ticket desk also said no military discounts (this was Veterans day). Well, keep your dynamic pricing and I'll just not use your questionable service. The experience will also be a big part of my description of my visit. You can buy the tickets all over St. Augustine, but what they don't tell you when purchasing, is that you have to catch the trolley at Ripley's which is a pretty long walk, especially if you have older or younger people with you. One might drive, but chances are that it took a while to find/pay for parking in the first place. The Xmas light tour didn't have any special route, no historical narration (in America's oldest city) and blasted the most awful Christmas jingles throughout the half an hour ride. There are also no stops to get on or off. So, my 70 yr old companions and myself, decided to be sneaky and opted for rule breaking versus agony, and hopped off at a light. All went well until my uncle discovered that he had forgotten his jacket back on the trolley. We got the car, drive back to Ripley's, where they told him to go to the old jail. We figured this was penance for escaping the jingles but apparently it's just lost and found. read more

The first driver we had was very good the last 2 drivers on the same day October 30th one a woman the other a man would be better if they had some training in dealing with children with special needs. Our autistic son was having a rough day and we were trying to get him back to the car. To do so we had no choice but to use the trolley to get back. We had to use 2 different ones so had 2 different drivers. The first woman was pretty much just rude to everyone but had to make announcements over the intercom to be quiet. The second driver just flat out told parents to keep their children quiet. It was directed at our family as our child was having a meltdown which we were and did get under control but telling parents that is rude and extremely insensitive. We finally rode the trolly in St Augustine. We got to Old Town first thing in the morning just as everything was opening up. There was plenty of free parking in their private lot. There is a large board listing all the prices of several tour packages next to the ticket booth. We got the tour for free because in the month of September local residents get to ride the trolly for free. During the rest of the year local residents can get discounted tickets. The trolly runs every 15 minutes. The waiting area is covered with benches. Our tour guide was quite good. He spoke clearly and loud enough for the entire train to hear. He spoke continuously to us as we drove through the streets of beautiful downtown historical St Augustine. There were a couple of rough bumps along the road but for the most part it was a smooth ride. There was a nice breeze as we drove around town. You can jump on and off at designated trolly stops all you like. I would totally recommend this trolly tour for anyone visiting St Augustine. Excellent tour. read more
