We purchased tickets to Haunted Trolley Tour of St Augustine, it was raining and thundering, we attempted to call to find out if the tour was being cancelled and no one answered the call. I called to see if we could transfer the tickets to the next day and were informed that because we purchased the tickets from a third party ( Viator) they would not be honoring the tickets and that it was up to Viator to handle this becuase it was their service. I asked the operator if the money was goign to Viator or to them, or if they were receiving no money from the $200 we spend. He simply couldnt answer. I feel I was completely ripped off. What a dissapointment but I hope this review helps someone else. read more

Want to say I spent 2 days in St, Augustine and took advantage of using the trolley to get around my points of interests, Scooter was my primary driver and he made the tour fun and enjoyable, he is very knowledgeable if the city. I also took the beach shuttle to the alligator farm and zoo and the driver John was great, he interacted with me and had a good conversation by giving me ideas for my stay here. Update for Nights of Lights tour: I was impressed by how cheap they were. $13 for a ticket? I'm sold. I showed up in the Christmas spirit like I've never been before. And then I took the shuttle to the loading area where the line was. It. Was. LONG. The "fast pass" people got the first two cars of the trolley and the general public got one trolley, so the long line moved like molasses. After a 3 1/2 hour wait of breathing in everyone's cigarette smoke, I reached the loading dock. My time on the trolley had finally come. I deliriously stepped onto the trolly and awaited departure. As I belted Christmas carols to try to make the wait worth it, I realized that we were going in circles around the area. This was nothing like the summer tours. We literally did a few spins around a simple route and before I knew it, we were back at the station. There were cookies and apple cider to greet me which was a nice silver lining. The moral of the story here is: plan ahead and get a fast pass or wear comfy shoes and bring all the patience you've got. Or save your time/money and walk around for free; you'll see more lights that way! read more

Extremely rude Diana that was at kiosk at plaza de constitution old town trolley kiosk. Long line, we had already bought tickets and only needed sticker. She said her pet peeve was people that broke in line with questions. There were 2 ladies there today and second lady did nothing so we waited in line extremely long time for a sticker and she was rude and hateful. I would never hire someone like this. We come here every year and take the Trolley. I suggest 2 days, at least, if you aren't familiar with the area, as the Trolley not only gets you from point 1 to 21, but also gives you detailed history of this area. Our favorite guide was Davey Jones. He is funny, but also gave a little info about himself, which made the ride more fun. We also liked PK, Kevin, and Jason. My wife and I rode with several of the drivers/tour guides on Old Town Trolley Tours and Camper (transplanted from California) was hands-down the best! He was engaging, occasionally humorous, and very knowledgeable about the city. He excelled above the other guides by articulating and speaking clearly enough that all, even us oldsters could understand him. We would encourage riders to get off at a stop and wait for another trolley if you are missing what a guide is saying. read more

There are designated pickup and drop off locations throughout the city area. Recommend if you want to ride and learn. It is convenient, and not too expensive, but take the guide's "facts" with a huge grain of salt. For example, yesterday "Chip" said that Henry Whetstone of the chocolate company in St Augustine was the one who developed the Hershey Kiss. Not true per their web site. Likewise, it was developed in 1907, and Henry and his wife are not that old. It would be nice if the Trolley people vetted the history prior to it being told because when there are obvious errors, one wonders what else is wrong. The trolley itself is fine though I question much of the chatter now, unfortunately. read more

Don't ever get off at a stop & then expect to get right back on. Waited 40+ minutes at multiple stops for a trolley. They're either all full or off schedule. Finally got back to the ticket center & waited another 30+ minutes for the shuttle back to the welcome center. At $30+ per person/ticket, it's not even remotely worth it. Might be ok if you're a group of adults just out for a leisurely day, but if you have kids or a tight schedule this is a disaster read more

The jail tour was ridiculously bad. Not sure if we just had a bad prisoner or if they're all that bad? I would only pay for the trolley and skip all the other attractions. The trolley is worth it, the wax museum the fountain of youth and the jail tour were definitely not worth the money. read more

I'll start off by saying that the only reason we booked this tour is because we have some elderly/disabled people in our party who can't handle walking around for long periods of time. For that demographic specifically, this was a good deal and allowed them to see the Night of Lights when they otherwise wouldn't have been able to do so. Well worth the money on that side of things. For my husband and I, two able-bodied young people, I felt the tour was a bit of a waste. They didn't take us anywhere that we couldn't have otherwise gone. They didn't give any historical information about the town. They didn't provide much insight into the history of the event. And the ride was SLOW! It's a much shorter tour distance-wise than I realized. I'd say the whole thing was less than 2 miles. However, it takes the better part of an hour to get through the tour because you are creeping along at a snails pace through traffic. Operationally, the event was very well run. The tour pick-up/drop-off is conveniently located right by the main parking garage for the city. They did a great job of managing the different time groups for the trains. It was nice to have private rows for our family and we had great views of the lights from the trolley. I don't know much about their normal tours but I wouldn't do the Night of Lights tour again. read more

I have learned to appreciate guided tours over the years and the Old Town Trolley Tour is actually worth the money to experience. Just be aware that there are a lot of stops and it's relatively long (up to 2 hours). In the hotter months (from around mid-May to mid-October), the Old Town Trolley is possibly the better option to take if you're going to be a tourist for the day or you're with little ones and/or older ones that may tire of walking for one reason or another. It can make the trip more enjoyable. Yes the tours can be pricey, but sometimes you can find a coupon deal online or in the Money/Mint magazines that's not expired. I love doing the Trolley Tour and, ironically, I always seem to learn something new on it. read more

We used Old Town Trolley Tours as a way to explore downtown St Augustine and get from attraction to attraction. Trolleys were frequent and the narrations given by the trolley drivers were engaging and informative (though some drivers were definitely better than others!) We managed to get a discount booking online with a third party, which made the tickets excellent value for money. We would use Old Town again if in the area as a good base for exploring the city! read more

Unfortunately, I suffered from a concussion from the trolley ride after hitting a bump. I experienced severe eye and head pain immediately after. I continued through the day in pain. I did message them on Facebook to let them know what happened and did not get a response. When I got back home I went to the hospital. I found out that I had a concussion. It's a week and a half and I am still struggling with the symptoms. Please be aware that this ride is very bumpy and uncomfortable. read more

At first, I was a little nervous to use the trolley to get around town, as I have never done it before. It was so easy to do and I am so glad we did. Very convenient. We never had to wait long to get a ride. We saw and learned so much from using this service. Furthermore, before we ended our day in downtown St. Augustine, we took one last, long trolly ride with "Chief". He was the best tour of the day. He was funny, knowledgeable, and interactive...very great personality. He was also helpful to everyone that needed to figure out exactly where they needed to be, nothing and no one was a hassle. Went on this tour today, it's nice cause they have multiple stops so it makes it convenient to jump on and off to hit the attractions you want to. The tour guides are not all created equal and if you get "Davie Jones" stay the whole tour as he makes it lively and gives loads of history. The second time we took the tour (as we didn't get off cause Davie Jones was that good) we used it as a jump on jump off. Worth booking this tour as each driver has a script to follow (with there personality add ons) and you will get some history about the area on a guided tour. There can be some street noise during times, just bare with it the drives do adapt and speakers are throughout the trolley. read more

TAKE NOTE: good way to get a general overview of the history of St. Augustine. You begin the tour at the visitor center and get on and off at the historic stops. you may want to ride around the complete circuit then make plans to return to the most interesting spots. That being said, please know that YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET BACK ON when you are ready to resume your tour because there are no seats. People aren't getting off. Or they are hogging the seats -- two people spread out in a row designed for 4. We waited 20 minutes at the Lightner Museum but the trolley that pulled up was full. We waited for the next one. It arrived 20 minutes later but by that time a crowd had accumulated and we still couldn't "fight" our way on. So we ended up walking two extra miles to get back to the parking garage. If it were 90 degrees this would have been even more annoying. read more

My husband and I decided to tour around town using the trolley service. It's okay, once on it's good but the minute you get off it is hard to get back on. Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour to hop back on. Reason being that most of the trolleys that pass by are already full, and you are lucky if two get off. I think it would be a better option to rent a bike and do your tour. Or Just stay on the trolley and don't get off, but that is no fun. We enjoyed the Whiskey tasting and the small town which is stop number 3. The old jail tour was interesting and fun as well. read more

To start with we used to go to St. Augustine all the time not anymore. The trolley tour is $40.00 per person and each driver tells you a different story of the area which makes you wonder what the truth is. Summer a trolley driver was extremely rude and would chastise you if you happen to talk to another rider. We rode the trolley all day and heard many different stories that many were just lies --- the last tour was with Summer and she is a rude person. She advised us to take the trolley running behind us for it was empty and we would enjoy that better. Never again will we go and use them. Apparently, the company is only interested in making money and the drivers keep on mentioning tips. You are better off getting a guide and taking a walking tour for the trolley tour takes you places that are not open to the public - only very limited days they are open so they decide to give you a tour of Black HIstory instead. Arrived at stop # 14 Plaza de Constitution to scan QR code as instructed to obtain stickers for continued tour. Diana was one of two employees at desk and there was a long que at this location. I briefly approached desk to inquire about stickers along with my sisters .She instructed for me to 'get back in line' despite my prepaid tickets and two employees working one customer at a time. Diana then stated very rudely 'My pet peeve is people interrupting me' Another customer stepped up to inquire about location for golf cart tour with prepaid tickets. She stated ' across street' three separate times to customer who was simply asking for clarification. Again very rude to all customers... We like taking trolley tours when we visit cities. This is a tour where you can jump on and off at different locations. The trolleys are prompt and drivers are knowledgeable. We bought our tickets on line. It was not clear that you had to go to one of their booths so that they could scan your ticket and get a sticker to put on your shirt. But we quickly figured that out. The person in the booth is obviously trying to sell you tickets to various museums. We did not want to buy any of these tickets and chose to wait to see what we wanted to do before purchasing tickets. When it was realized that we were not purchasing any of these tickets, the attendant quickly shut down and became non-engaged and rude. We found this weird, especially because we spent $155 for trolley tickets. I would do the tour again but could not give 5 stars because of the attendants attitude. read more

Julie, was the ticket sales person, who didn't assume I remembered everything, a good assumption on her part, and explained everything to me and my guests. The tickets can be pricey however there are plenty of opportunities for discounts. If you purchase in person at their kiosks they provide from 10-30% off the ticket price, online has a discount and there's coupons in local St.Augustine maps/guides I recommend checking to compare discount options. My family and I were touring this past weekend and my . mother purchased the tickets ahead online for a one day hop on hop off option pass. In order to make the most of the hop on hop off option we chose to tour around Saturday morning. The process for getting on board at any stop was a bit confusing so we asked one the kiosks personnel down st.George street who told us we could hop on at the next stop about a block down. Once the next trolley cam around we hopped right on. Covid 19 precautions: -Passengers were seated 4 max in every other row for spacing and were told to wear masks. Drivers did well expressing the requirement of keeping your mask on (though unfortunately not all passengers listened). -I recommend bring hand sanitizer/wipes as this was a hop on and off tour I did not witness the cleaning of the seating areas while we were making stops but I did witness some being cleaned at their final stop by the old jail tour site. Experience: -We had multiple drivers each with different personalities of course while giving the tour were very comical and witty. I especially remember our driver who went by "Alley cat," because she repeated this so often throughout our stops. -This is a quick way to go around the town and a more relaxed way to make your way around town sight seeing rather than the walking tours (some of which don't even allow for a bathroom break in between) -The trolley maneuvers around the town's traffic and into alley ways not all normal tours can which was cool to see and gave us ideas for places we wanted to visit. -Because we had a group of six we often had to split into two rows and with all the spacing precautions being taken once we got off at a stop it was usually easy to get a trolley or wait for the next one. Often times they took less than the 15 minute time lapse is stated online which was good. However, once 2:30-3pm hit our larger group had to wait for about 4 trolleys to go by full as no one was getting off and we could not fit the whole group even split in different cars. Once we reached the final stop we were able to get on a bus that took us to where we needed to go whether it was the main parking garage or our hotel which was nice and kept us from having to walk all the way back. Confusing ticket check process: We were then asked for our stickers which we noticed throughout the day others having had on their shirts or what not with the trolley logo. Apparently we were misdirected and had to have gone to one of the main trolley kiosks to get the tickets checked in and the sticker to show you were good to go on the tours. It's important to note when we went to the stop were initially told to go to, that kiosk was closed so this may or may not have been the correct place to go and there just wasn't someone there at the time. It was not clear on where to go and what was required said sticker to board. Even after checking the site this was unclear. read more

Really enjoyed this tour. It has many stops along the way. Plenty of sites to see and especially good when you have a great tour guide which we did and that was Tony. From the minute we got on he provided funny commentary but more importantly great information about the sites we were visiting. We got off and back on with a different guide and there was a difference. Tony is the best!!! What I enjoy about this tour is that you can hop on and off and get a good idea of what the city has to offer. They offer free parking at site 1 and 2 which is good when parking is difficult in the city. Highly recommend getting the package deal which gives you a better deal than purchasing the tickets at the site. read more

I have been on these tours in many cities and am happy with the experience overall. This one was disappointing in a couple of respects. We never got off the trolley so our tour was uninterrupted and we listened to just one tour guide, Bud, who was very polite, courteous, and knowledgeable. He talked literally nonstop about the rich history of St. Augustine. That was nice to hear, but it would have been nice for him to pause a few times to allow for questions during the tour. But our main issue concerned the heat. My wife and I are from Texas and no wimps when it comes to hot weather. But the trolley had no means of cooling at all, not even fans, and the heat index was 107 degrees that day in August. Lack of climate controls made for a very uncomfortable ride, so those who are susceptible to extreme temperatures should be aware of this when booking. read more
